Picked up the iV today
See that is the classic example of who not to have a phev. It's only been 3 weeks and I am already seeing the benefit. Needle hasn't dropped from max fuel since I picked it up. Likely to change tomorrow when I take it to VW which will end up using all the battery before I get back home. Tempted to force it into hybrid mode for the trip to see how it goes.

Changing to 18" wheels on 1.4TSI Sportline.
Has anyone clarified if a straight swap of aftermarket shocks (B6, koni active) need notification to insurance company? When I did my B6 I claimed for sport suspension which includes lower springs as I knew I'd go the whole hog anyway and they were happy with that.

Midway through MIB 2.5 upgrade looking for coding advice
My mistake. Maybe it can be done with vcds but with some very careful attention. Not that you shouldn't pay attention to any coding you do but this sounds like it definitely needs backups and double check the backup so you have something safe to go back to.

You cannot code it with vcds. Give @pab567 a shout as he has the kit to do the work and is a guru with it.

Changing to 18" wheels on 1.4TSI Sportline.
@boydeeeit was aimed at anyone who wanted to answer but thanks. We made do with the Octavia in its stiffened form for 2 years with the boy who is now 3 and a bit and a little lady who joined us in lockdown 1. The boy loved it and used to shout "faster daddy"! Not so much now with the new car but a couple of tweaks should help.

Android auto maps issues
Change the cable. 90% of issues with AA are cable or update related. You've ruled out updates as it works fine in another car.

Changing to 18" wheels on 1.4TSI Sportline.
Do you find the road holding any different will the change in size either way. Gone from a lowered octavia with b6 shocks and 18s (225/40) to a passat gte stock suspension with 18s (235/45) and its so smooth but feel a little bit of unwanted body movement. Getting cross climates on next week so hope some of it is in the crap tyres that came on it.

Any Smart Home nerds here?
I am a bit of a nerd with this stuff and although I havent transferred my hue items to my r-pi running home assistant I do use it for most of my automations. Some wifi plug/extension leads/sockets dotted around are useful for stuff that isnt smart. For example we have an outdoor socket that i swapped to a wifi (bg home) double to allow us to plug our outdoor lights on a timer. Motion sensors in the hall and landing and a zwave contact sensor on the garage door to help with walking around the house. Default brightness settings on hue works well to not scare the jeebus out of us if we have a power cut. Google homes dotted around for radio/music and shouting commands. works well for us as I have put time and effort into making it wife proof (other spouses are available). Not quite inlaw proof but when we move house in the new year I will ut more effort into stopping unwanted light switching.

Octavia 1.4 Stop/Start & battery issues
You need to recode with OBDelleven/vcds so the car knows it has a new unit onboard. Google it or search on here for the procedure. Should be very similar for most modern VAG cars. Clearing the fault is not enough.

2021 Model L&K Superb IV Estate (UK)
When I picked up the passat it had zero charge and only 1/4 tank so filled it up with vpower less than a mile from the dealer and the 35 mile journey home (mostly m25/m3) gave 43mpg on the dash. not sure what the actual mpg would have been as needed to get home with no time to refill locally to me. Still on the first tank and the needle has barely dropped from max as been doing most of the miles on electric. pretty sure overall readout I something like 78mpg (have played with gte mode a couple of times which significantly affects overall readout). I'll be sure to keep tabs on mileage when I finally refuel but at this rate i'll be into the engine starting itself to clear the pipes due to not using the engine much.

Lowering springs install on a 280/272 Sportline - DIY and results
It will still sink the same amount as before. All it does is raise the starting point (by 6.5mm) so the compressed point is slightly higher (by 6.5mm). I have a pair of these sitting doing nothing as dont have the car anymore. Happy to deliver (covid depending/within reason) or post for a donation to charity. Providing I can find them in the madness of packing to move house!

Octavia 1.4 Stop/Start & battery issues
Did you recode when changing the battery? You need to tell the car it has a new one or it will charge the brand new battery thinking its the smaller capacity, worn battery that was on it before.

2016 Sportline TDI 150 DSG - cambelt & water pump change confusion timing
Not sure on the current official numbers but 60k sounds early to me. 5 years is normal and there has been variation between 80k and 120k in the UK from reports I've seen on here. I would suggest your friend seeks advice from the service manager specifically about the documentation regarding the servicing. The water pump could also go soon as that age and mileage is ripe for failure I think. Not a bad thing to get it done now depending on how long they intend to keep the car.

Remap Kodiaq Stage 1 - not detectable by dealer?
@Redboy the clutch was an example. Just to illustrate the warranty issue.

Remap Kodiaq Stage 1 - not detectable by dealer?
I would doubt it's not detectable by the dealer. Whether they will look at it is another matter. So e dealers are happy to warrant parts that are not related to the map so could be worth discussing that with them. You are of course raising the flag that your car could be modified if they tell you they won't cover it. If you then rock up with a claim for a clutch and they do a scan......

Oil temperature
With my mapped 2.0 TDI I used to give it more when it gave a figure which started at 50 as root says. The hotter the oil the harder you can push .... To a point. Now with a GTE the engine hasn't run long enough to get warm as run it on electric 99% of the time.

Skoda Octavia RS 2.0 TDI Modifications available and where to source?
The thing to understand about diesels is that the engine is controlled by the fuelling and not throttled by the air intake like a petrol engine. The intake on the TDI is capable of flowing far more than peak requirements in standard form. Adding a panel filter or changing components to increase flow will do nothing for power. What it will do is help pick up when coming on to power.

Bilstein B6 DCC shock absorbers available at last
Absolutely agreed! Just a shame I couldn't follow 2 Octavia's with another Skoda.

Further research I need to do now is find out what is cross compatible between superb and Passat. Not been able to find a good enough forum yet for Passat that has the same wealth of knowledge as here. SpeakEV is great for the ev side of the GTE but the car side (arguably the bit that interests me most) is hard to find good info on. I imagine the shocks/springs are somewhat the same.

Bilstein B6 DCC shock absorbers available at last
I think we can all agree that all the settings (or at least normal and sport) need to be a little firmer.

Bilstein B6 DCC shock absorbers available at last
That was what my second point was aimed at. I didn't think it was possible for Joe public to adjust the dynamic characteristics so didn't want to ask about that. This was my thinking too. Golf r DCC settings are clearly more firm than the Skoda offerings. Yes some is achieved by stiffer springs but all know springs must be matched to dampers for the best performance. I guess it has been looked into a fair bit so I'll not dig any more.

Bilstein B6 DCC shock absorbers available at last
When I did some digging into how the DCC works it struck me as quite a basic system as far as the 3 settings go. As you change a mode it simply rotates the adjustment to make the base setting slower or faster. There are other more complicated things going on with how it responds to input which I think is what makes the system so good. Back to my first point. Is there a way to set the dial up a notch for each setting? For example, instead of 1,5,9 for comfort, normal, sport. It could be 2,6,10. Making it that much stiffer in each setting. This could be achieved by vcds or mechanically. Maybe dunno possibly I'll get my coat.

Bilstein B6 DCC shock absorbers available at last
It was just a thought as DCC was something I would have liked in a new car. The ability to change on the fly would be the target. Individual knobs would be a fiddle too far for a family daily. Maybe if I manage to get a toy I'll put coilovers/adjustables on. Just looked up that KW DCC kit. That's definitely a price too far especially as my current kit works fine and I've had it for less than 2 weeks!
