  1. I have a polar vantage m that is bang on budget. Battery love is 2 weeks with multiple activities. Links to my cadence/speed sensor on the bike so should do your trainer. Should work with swift too. Activity type is really customisable. You can set the poling for GPS to really long to give more battery. I have done this for walking although not used it for that much this year. Wore it daily up to a couple of weeks ago when I got a smart watch for birthday. Still use it for exercise though.
  2. Someone explained it to me as driving gently allows the air flow over the rad/engine bay to spread the heat around in a more consistent manner. Also gets the g'box oil doing the same thing.
  3. If jacking one corner at a time I usually jack it by the correct point and place the stand next to the jack a bit further along the sill and let the stand only take some of the weight. If propping up on stands both sides I jack up on the sill to allow me to place the stand on the jacking point. For what it's worth I use rubber inserts on both stands and trolley jack.
  4. Turbo choice aside, is the original tuner willing to refund and return to OEM map? If so then I'd be doing that and going somewhere else for a new turbo and tune. Any tuner worth their salt should offer this service especially with what has gone wrong.
  5. Yep. Usually 40k interval for the wet clutch dsg. 7speed wet dsg has a longer life I think. I'm sure someone will come along with the figures. I would definitely ask at the dealer again with the info that it is wet clutch.
  6. 50k for a modern cambelt is really low! Some man's are going to 10 years unlimited mileage.
  7. To add to the confusion, I was under the impression it was 100k and 5yrs. You have to drive a fair bit to hit 100k in that time. 75k is more likely but it's sensible to change at 5 yrs if the pump hasn't packed up before then. Mine went at 3 1/2yrs and 45k ish.
  8. From what people have said in the past, dealers use the mantra of 'ain't broke, don't fix'.
  9. Mib2 screens are largely interchangeable. Mib1 versions require the matching units. Should be fine with an mib2 Columbus unit. Just realised the screen you have doesn't have nav button. Not sure how you would access nav without. @SashaGrace or @pab567 may have that answer. Unit should be £400-600 (maybe) CP removal £50-100 depending on dealer Coding ~£200
  10. The unit in glovebox isn't a dummy. It's the main unit. You'll need to replace that with a Columbus I think to get a cd player. -fit unit -pay dealer to remove component protection -send unit off for coding -done Or just pay for a streaming service and use carplay/Android auto.
  11. Id5 should prove popular if they can keep the price down.
  12. I think it's clear that premium fuels are better generally with a higher octane rating and some other additives that help keep things clean/performing. The variance between them is less than the difference from standard 95 so I say knock yourself out and get whatever premium fuel you have available and that offers what you want.
  13. This was mentioned during lockdown 1 and someone seemed to think you could bend the lever inwards to allow into function. You can also charge via the 12v socket bas it stays live if your charger has this option?
  14. I noticed this and I think it's part of the standard logic built into the software. It does it less when in S.
  15. High miles on a youngish car is a difficult one. If you see the history has regular oil change and some other bits then it's probably ok but I would be looking for a once over* to be sure. * Oil change/filter Air filter Fuel filter Pollen filter Brake fluid Check all suspension joints/components for wear DSG oil (if never done then it definitely needs it. Otherwise due at 40k so worth doing early to be sure)
  16. For a while I was set on a 272/280. I need rid of my oil burner as I mainly do short trips now due to reducing family numbers and not doing a weekly trip for studying. I'm now looking at Passat gte/superb IV to partly future proof myself but I wouldn't pass up a 272 if I found one in the right spec/price (£25k sportline estate, under the 40k ved, heated seats). If they did a 4x4 gte/iv I'd be all over it! Edit: actually if not going plug in the budget would suffer and I would only plan on keeping the car for a short time till full ev makes more sense.
  17. B6 fitted when No1 had just turned 1. Profit fitted a year later (ish) then had no2 during lockdown and not had an issue. Just need to watch the mounds they like to use as speed bumps round here. My boy (No1) loves it and says "zoom zoom" when I do the nursery pickup 😁
  18. Looks to be an option to me. The map mode is interesting as you can include steering angle. Seriously making me rethink my replacement car!
  19. Can the modern haldex units be tuned? Maybe a little tweak to send more power to the rear sooner than currently would give you a more involving drive. I've heard that it's a bad thing to have it on 100% but maybe a little tune along with a gearbox tune would go well with a set of B6 DCC shocks. I would have thought it's the same haldex as in a golf r or S4?
  20. I'll chuck this in before the debate starts: The dsg on the 1.5 is the dry clutch DQ200 and has the potential to be not as reliable as the wet clutch DQ250 as in the larger engine car. It would be worth you doing some research into the 2 types of dsg to understand what to expect. That being seaid there have been many reliable dry clutch boxes particularly the newer ones.
  21. Currently on b6 with prokit springs (octavia) and as newbie says they offer support and control but without being overly crashy/firm. Used the B6 on stock springs for a while too and definitely something I will be doing to future cars when shocks die. The way I see coilovers is you get loads of adjustment which is good for the tinkerer but not so good for a daily.
  22. Standard fit wheels should fit fine across the range brake calipers allowing (going bigger is fine for this). Speedo calibration is not needed if fitting wheels/tyres from a vrs Octavia. If getting wheels/tyres from another model then you may need to pay attention to it.
  23. There are 2 mods used in the Octavia section that adjust the throttle. Pretty sure when I did one of them (Audi mod?) it changed the steering characteristics too. Could be what you are after. Search audi throttle mod and you should be able to fin the other one too.
  24. Another good tip is to look in via the front hole to guide the bulb in.
  25. Did mine a week ago. Pop the side off the key, new battery in, job done. Works fine. I made sure I had the spare key with me just in case.
