  1. Nice motor 👍 and welcome to Briskoda @RussellB
  2. You never know, Pete. He might have even thought about something similar himself 🤷
  3. I don't know how often @Tech1e checks in these days but I suspect his knowledge would be worth listening to.
  4. IMO = In My Opinion. Sorry, I didn't realise English was not your first language
  5. Fingers crossed for him 🤞
  6. Skoda Octavia Mk3 Amundsen MIB 1 ended production in 2015 and the latest maps for yours are 2020 as they were only updated for five years (I know, ridiculously short!). I had the same issue and the latest updates available for my 2014 Rapid were 2019. I got mine from satnavishop.co.uk. The guy was very helpful in getting me the right card for my Amundsen. IIRC forum member @Tell posted something about a workaround using SEAT? maps but even that wasn't the latest available maps.
  7. Sounds positive then and thanks for the update, Pete. Fingers crossed for you
  8. Hi Pete no idea what the weather's been like in your neck of the woods but have you managed to investigate any further yet?
  9. @Zan I don't know if this stuff will need coding in with VCDS or something.

  11. I'd also keep the wiper. Dunno why but all the Skoda's I've had (MkI Fabia Hatch, MkII Fabia estate x2, MkIII Fabia estate and a Skoda Rapid) have all seemed to suffer road spray on the rear screens. I prefer to know what/ who's behind me.
  12. Ya know I was thinking a little more about it after lol_lol's reply last night and thought 'what about something like they use at the jet wash place' where the hose goes OH on an arm and there it is! IME those spring loaded retractable things seem to not work so well when it gets colder.
  13. A lovely part of the country where some pretty decent people come from IMO. Not that I'm a little biased 😛
  14. Er, what is it?
  15. What about something like this? https://www.vevor.de/kabelkanaele-c_10747/4x-1-kanal-schlauchbruecke-kabelbruecke-lkw-pkw-ueberfahrschutz-kabel-schutz-bruecke-p_010438232388?adp=gmc&country=DE&
  16. Bugger. I really hope nothing has cracked Pete 🤞
  17. Hi @Juliap and welcome to Briskoda 👋

  20. Ashtray with a missing lid. It's in the cupholder. Revove and dispose if you don't need it.
  21. Hi and welcome to Briskoda @TedM from another Brit abroad (Germany)
  22. Cheers @mac11irl for starting this. I was too tired last night to open a new topic but it was in my head to start today. Re: Linux Mint - I was reading this earlier...https://uk.pcmag.com/linux/124238/how-to-make-the-switch-from-windows-to-linux however I'll probably use Ubuntu myself https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows
  23. If that's your plan then go for it. It's a very simple and painless process from past experience but admittedly that was some time ago now since I last ran Linux. I have a 2017 Asus X555 (I think it is) that's now redundant but serviceable I was thinking of wiping the SSD and installing Linux on. Might be worthy of a topic in the Tech Shed for more input. By the way, I highly recommend upping your Vitamin D from around September when the days start getting shorter. I've done that for a couple of years now and IMO it definitely helps. Another tip is to ignore BST/ GMT clock changes. They always throw my circadian rhythm out of kilter. Not easy if you have fixed start times/ employed etc but I think we're both old enough now not to have to.
