  4. Hi and welcome to Briskoda @TedM from another Brit abroad (Germany)
  5. Cheers @mac11irl for starting this. I was too tired last night to open a new topic but it was in my head to start today. Re: Linux Mint - I was reading this earlier...https://uk.pcmag.com/linux/124238/how-to-make-the-switch-from-windows-to-linux however I'll probably use Ubuntu myself https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows
  6. If that's your plan then go for it. It's a very simple and painless process from past experience but admittedly that was some time ago now since I last ran Linux. I have a 2017 Asus X555 (I think it is) that's now redundant but serviceable I was thinking of wiping the SSD and installing Linux on. Might be worthy of a topic in the Tech Shed for more input. By the way, I highly recommend upping your Vitamin D from around September when the days start getting shorter. I've done that for a couple of years now and IMO it definitely helps. Another tip is to ignore BST/ GMT clock changes. They always throw my circadian rhythm out of kilter. Not easy if you have fixed start times/ employed etc but I think we're both old enough now not to have to.

  8. Originally? Phillip Hammond in 2017 - it was called the Expensive Car Supplement. You can't seriously be blaming Reeves for car prices going up? The latest Octavia vRS isn't a zero emission vehicle though is it with a 2.0TSi engine? As mentioned, this is topic drift but good luck in your search for a royal green Octavia vRS. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/vehicle-excise-duty-for-expensive-car-supplement-threshold-increase-for-zero-emission-vehicles/increase-in-the-vehicle-excise-duty-expensive-car-supplement-threshold-for-zero-emission-cars

  13. Hi and welcome to Briskoda @OctoParrot 👋
  14. What @Alasdair1 above says, get it done plus tensioner and water pump which is accessible at the same time and is a consumable item anyway. With no history you've no way of knowing when it was last changed so it's a gamble at this point how much longer it'll last.
  15. You know you're always welcome but IKWYM. Frohe Weinachten 🎅🕯️🕯️🕯️

  21. Of course. Skoda are manufacturers of happy drivers 😆 Welcome to Briskoda 👍
  22. The acceleration wasn't too bad with +150bhp There was/ still is a six speed conversion kit for those boxes but the price was too high for my liking. IIRC the adding of the sixth cog and accompanying parts could be done with the box in situ.
  23. Hello and welcome to Briskoda @karlo 👋
  24. Nooooo The MkI Fabia 1.9 TDi Elegance. With a cheeky remap to 155 bhp. Heated seats FTW
