  1. 🤣🤣🤣 It's 8 or 9 years old I think, with around 56k miles on it. No idea if its the V6 or not. Chris
  2. On my Karoq it's on the Menu / Settings / System Settings / Information screen on the Amundsen screen. There is a thread on here talking about updating the software yourself via a USB port, but the thought of trying that and it failing to update fills me with horror! I dread to think what the cost would be of getting a dealer to reinstall the software on a car if you brick it!! Chris
  3. Just had a phone call from my son with a Range Rover Sport. He wanted to get his car serviced last month, and was told it would take a day as he needed the cam belt changed. He booked it in, to be told the day before it was due that they'd need it for two days as it was a big job. Went to pick it up yesterday to be told they hadn't been able to change the cambelt as they were out of stock and on back order! They also couldn't MOT it as there was an airbag warning light up, which needed a new wiring loom to cure. They also couldn't give him a courtesy car as he needed it to take his cats to a catttery before they went on a short holiday - and animals weren't allowed in their courtesy cars, even when they were confined in carrying crates! Perhaps Skoda dealers aren't so bad after all? He's tried several dealers in Suffolk, but none of them seem any good 😞 Chris
  4. With Karoqs this seems to trigger a software update by the dealer. Mine went from 0270 to 0276, and the fault hasn't returned. I know the current software versions are at least 0306 now, but dealers only seem to update a car when you report a fault that the update should clear. If your Scala is out of warranty, it'll be interesting to see if they accept it's a design fault that is still covered or not. Chris
  5. I've added more info to my reply, so you need to re-read that too. You can format the USB drive in VFAT, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT or NTFS, and I just copied the MP4 files from my PC in a folder for each CD/album. They are then displayed with the artist, track name, album name etc (and usefully you can set favourite artists, genres, or albums to quickly select the desired tracks). I don't know if you need to be set up as a primary user to use a USB drive (I wouldn't have thought so to be honest) but this does need to be resolved. Is there an existing user that needs to be removed first perhaps? I was able to set myself up fairly quickly, but the procedure is quite strict on how you do it. (I did it back in November 2020 so my memory is a bit hazy now.) But I remember I needed to have all the car keys with me, and my phone. If you can download a user manual that should guide you through it, otherwise complain to the dealer who sold you the car. My car came with a printed manual, but even that referred me to a downloadable manual for details of the Amundsen (but that was when the MIB3 units had just been released). I also hate this "green" idea of not providing written user manuals, but I'm of a generation who received a bookshelf of manuals back in the 1980s when I first installed MS Office onto a PC! Chris
  6. The maps will update automatically whenever you drive into an area with updated maps (as long as you have a current online licence). My car is on software version 0276 still but the maps are currently showing as version 22.12. You can check this via the Menu / Settings / System Settings / System Information screen on the Amundsen display. But if you are having problems registering as a primary user, then this could be a problem. You are stuck with the radio logos provided by Skoda as there is no way to add your own as we used to on older systems. But I have no problem playing music from a USB-C drive in the socket in front of the gear lever. I use one of these: Integral 128GB Fusion Dual USB-C & USB 3.1 Flash Drive - 200MB/s £19.99 - Free Delivery | MyMemory The facelifted car will have the same infotainment system as cars made since August 2020 I believe, but it is easy to tell which you have as the rear lights look very different. See here for an example: Skoda Karoq (2022) - picture 64 of 232 - 1024x768 (netcarshow.com) The facelifted car was announced in November 2021 (see The new ŠKODA KAROQ is here - Škoda Storyboard (skoda-storyboard.com) so yours could well have been produced in February in preparation for its launch in the UK early 2022. Chris
  7. It's 140Nm in my manual for a July 2020 (MY21) car.

I think I've read elsewhere that Karoqs now come with a digital instrument panel rather than the analogue one as standard. But some people are querying whether it is a smaller and simpler unit than the one that was optional for my MY21 car. I wonder if the cost of the Amundsen Plus option is justified by including the bigger one, that lets you display the map at the centre of the instrument panel rather than on the central display? I suspect you need to visit a dealer and look at showroom Karoqs to get the answer - and don't believe a salesman unless he can prove what he tells you! Chris
  9. Odd... on my Karoq I can set the Lane Assist to be on or off via a button on the steering wheel (which gives access to the Assist System menu) and it then remembers my setting. I just wish it would also remember that I use the Speed Limiter function rather than the Adaptive Cruise Control as I have to reset that every time I start the car! Chris
  10. The puller for the plastic covers was missing from my car, but it's cheap enough to replace. Chris
  11. There is an older thread at which talks about this problem, and may give you some help, or at least people to contact. Best of luck, Chris
  12. When I had the SOS problem back in November 2021, my dealer updated the main software level from 0270 to 0276. Later cars have had further updates to the software but it seems that these are not installed to older cars when they are serviced, despite my invoices saying that they have checked to see if there any software updates required. (I am told it takes hours to download the updated software from Skoda's servers so can understand why it is only updated if will cure a reported fault.) Note that this software cannot be updated over air like the navigation database and 'shop' screens, but you can check which version is installed by using the Menu / Settings / System Settings / System Information screen. Mine tells me that I software version 0276, and navigation database version 22.12 at present. Chris
  13. Emission regulations mean that the car has to start in the mode used for the tests - which is the normal drive mode since not all models have a choice. So regardless of whether you left in Sport or Eco, it will restart in normal. But my car MY21 does exactly that... it doesn't get confused and still try to kid me that it is in Eco when it isn't! Chris
  14. All it needs to do is cause a hairline crack in the varnish coat. Water will do the rest. Chris
  15. I'm sure a dealer would call it fair wear and tear. The plastic centre caps on all VW cars are also susceptible to the same problem, but it costs much less to replace them! Chris
  16. Not noticed it in my rear fogs, but common in the front lights as the LED bulbs don't run hot like tungsten bulbs to burn it off. (One benefit of having tungsten bulbs as rear lights and rear indicators perhaps?) Chris
  17. Looks like water has got under the varnish. It only takes a stone to hit the wheel to crack the seal. But it's a common problem with diamond cut alloys. The only cure is a refurb when it gets bad enough to be obvious. I'm thinking of having mine painted all black when they need it. Chris
  18. For the satnav voice, you can choose a male or female voice when you choose the language. Does this carry over to Laura perhaps? Chris
  19. On my MY21 car, you just press the Station List virtual button, then scroll down to see all the available stations, both DAB and FM. If you only wish to see FM stations, go into the Radio settings menu / advanced settings and then select see only FM instead of DAB and FM. The radio settings also let you choose to step through all available stations by pressing the arrow 'buttons'. Note that the settings menu will also let you choose whether or not the radio will switch between DAB and FM transmissions for a station depending on which has the best signal. And I think there is also a setting that allows you to see a manual frequency scale for FM so you can set the radio to a particular frequency (although I've never tried this). Finally, you can then save the desired radio station to a preset. Chris
  20. I have a different problem with mine! I have the Virtual Cockpit, and so normally resetting the trip odometer needs a trip into the settings menu... but twice now, it has reset itself! Each time I have only driven around 300 miles since it was last reset, and I haven't noticed any other software updates causing it. But it's annoying as I use it to record my mileage each time I fill up with fuel (luckily I record the total mileage as well so my records are still correct.) Chris
  21. Can you see the files on the TV still? If not, it sounds like you removed it before the files had been closed by the TV. Chris
  22. Hi DaniC, There is no way that I have seen for the Amundsen to format a USB disk. Instead, it will read files on any USB disk that has been formatted already using the VFAT, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT or NTFS file system. Details were in my digital owners manual, in the Amundsen / Media / Supported Sources and Files section. Presumably the web-based owners manual for your newer car will have the same details somewhere. Best Wishes, Chris
  23. Makes me glad my 2.0 TSI has a cam chain instead - or so I'm told!
  24. Agreed KaroqCZ. This is a long-standing design fault that has been affecting many VAG cars and not just Skodas. My previous Golf Sportsvan sounded an alarm when it thought I wasn't turning the steering wheel often enough - and so gave false alarms on long straight motorways. So I'd hoped the capacitive sensors might be an improvement. But now it's looking like we were all mis-sold a feature that hadn't been designed properly. Perhaps we are due a refund of the money we paid for this option?? Chris
  25. Thanks for the info. My car had been silent for the last few weeks, until I used the heated steering wheel this week. It was OK when first switched on, but the TA warning came up shortly after turning it off. Now one of the sensors required by the TA is the capacitive sensor in the steering wheel that ensures you have your hands on the wheel. I now believe that using the heated steering wheel affects this sensor (through expansion?) as when not using it, I do not get the TA warning. So perhaps the other solution is to get my driving gloves out again rather than lose the Emergency Assist function?? Chris
