out last night, ran the hill climb again.. and just kept going. absolutely heaving by the top, but... 3.5km of pretty constant uphill plugging on. had to stop once for a car coming down, and the 10sec gave enough of a refresh to get back up to speed for the last bit of road section. then said right im too close to not finish this and hopped the stile and pressed on to the top. even better was discovering last night that i actually tagged the 9th fastest time on the off road bit, and id gone a slightly longer way than the segment route. reckon i could get to top 5 just by going the shorter route! nice view from the top in the dark too, with the whole town lit up (it was about 2115hrs when i git there)

it got to me... i went... i hill climbed... i got to the first junction on the climb... ignore those pr times, that first km has a data issue... no way i did a 2m 11s km! i wouldnt cycle it in that! the 8m for km3... yeah, thats accurate... i was practically crawling towards the top. it was good push though, think i needed it, hoping it will help blow out my lungs and reset this f'ki g covid cough...

oh lord this is overdue an update... not much to report, i havnt been out since Sunday 2 weeks ago.. i did a different kinda run that night, chancing a run up the 15-25% grade hill i cycle up to get to the hills, to see how far id get.. made it about a km up the hill, after about a k to get there. also held a reasonable pace up it too. given the gradient etc. then swmbo had a couple of work things that stung me for the start of that week, and the weather was appalling, and then i got covid! been down since. really want a good cycle, but feel like my lungs might split if i try.. fingers crossed for later this week thougj.

i presyme you sorted that out Crasher? at a guess the steering position sensor was out of calibration with the new rack?

yeah, i think once the seals get blown out on these racks thats it...

if the door membrane is okay on the rear door - the floor pan slopes to the rear so water will gather there naturally if parked on the level. so, check the front door membrane and door seals. check behind the wheel arch liner for blocked scuttle drain. if its clogged, clear it out. water probably getting via the firewall grommet for the bonnet release cable

a normal grade Sachs or Luk clutch and flywheel kit will absolutely do perfectly fine in that car.

probably a leaking joint somewhere on the exhaust side of things inside the engine bay - could be on the turbo pipework. or, a minor teeny oil leak thats worse u der heavy load (higher pressure) and the oil is burning on a hot surface in the engine bay.

as above - turbo vanes. what engine code is in the car? ALH/ASZ etc?

a heated windscreen is probably one of the handiest things you never knew you needed in your car until you have it, and then dont again..

saw one on the road today. Ioniq 5, in a darkish silver metallic. it looks.... retro-futuristic? especially from the back. as in it wouldnt look out of place in an 80s movie set in the 2030s. kinda Judge Dredd / Robocop type cityscape? does that make sense? all the fake grills along the bottom of the sides and rear bumpers. its... i dunno. not necessarily ugly, but also fairly nondescript and forgetable.

and instrument cluster... be a whole lot easier just find a good vr6 for sale...

step one - pull the fuse for the rear wipers. this solved it for me (yup for the front ones) step two - dose the steering wheel stalk electricals with contact cleaner. step 3 - any recent work done on the linkage mechanism? there was a thread about 10days ago with something similar. have a gander

i dunno, a lot of fords of that age had fake alloys - 5 spoke steelies with very well fitted hubcaps!

ooooo look at you mr ive got fancy back doors at least the seats' weight alone helps a bit with the back end.. surprisingly chuckable cars too.

as for the feshty, we ran a few '05 vans for engineers pool vans back in the day, before they all got replaced by bog level connects 🙄 the feshties were grand. nippy (ish) but with an empty boot f'kall over the rear axle could make them a bit lively on bad roads. and noisy on a long journey... bleeding eardrums after a 2hr motorway to HQ kinda noisy

i still love the colour. it would look vulgar on a mk1, and weird on a mk2, but it looks class on a mk3

hi, straight answer is no. the cars are built off a different chassis platform, so they are going to be very different in the construction and mounting, and the shape is going to be different too
