Coolant Temperature Sensor replaced........issue not fixed - SCAN INCLUDED
as soon as i saw "CTS" and "one from ECP" i had a feeling the next bit gonna be "its still not working". VAG engines have always been fussy about non oem engine sensors. i think the different thicknesses of metals in oem vs aftermarket can make enough of a change to the resistances the ecu expects to get that it just goes "fk that, its broken" i cant say if youve accidentally put the new one in the fuel sensor hole, but assuming you havnt, try unplugging it and see how the engine runs?

What's It Worth?
unfortunately its worth what someone will pay for it... but it should still be a good little bangernomics bus for someone. have a look at some ads for cheap ones, and expensive listings and gauge yours for where it falls between the quality / age / price brackets.

Octavia vrs mk1. Splutters and bangs when floor it HELP
it sounds though, like your throttle body might be sticking.

Octavia vrs mk1. Splutters and bangs when floor it HELP
start with the basics - have you checked all the fuses both cabin and battery box top? when was it serviced last? is it speed /gear related, or does it happen in any gear or speed?

Biceps tendon rupture, anyone 'been there'?

Fabia vrs smoke map?
i thought the "agri spec" look had been and gone already? it was very mid recession over here, among the few boy racers that couldnt get to Oz, or afford to run petrols any more. "ratted" (just ****boxes in reality) mk4 golf tdis and 307s with turned up exhaust tips covering the back of the car in black gack...... fk me it was ridiculous.

wind deflectors
i put a front set on my mk2 octavia 2 yrs ago. hekos, and the little clips were a tad annoying, but a good shove with a flat head screwdriver got them in and even up. wind noise is a bit worse alright, but the main benefit is - leaving the windows open an inch and not worrying about it raining inside. and the lack of fogging up on the move.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
i just went back and checked... sunday 19th July 2020 i did my first 5k attempt. so im 2 yrs and 3 days into this journey.. i had set myself a target for the end of this summer to make an attempt at running up Slievenamon, starting at the Church we got married in at Kilcash. it would be roughly 550m meters of uphill trail, so tough, and more than my average gain since starting the hill/trail running a few months ago, but if its not tough it doesnt work for me. i need there to be a target to build to, and a challenge at the end or ill get bored and give up trying to improve without noticing it. and now im realistically a good 6 weeks behind on that challenge. so when i do get back its gonna be mentally tough for me knowing that im behind where i want to be. but im alive and have everything attached to let me keep pursuing the goal so i have to keep that going too...

thanks @Gaz i suppose its worth saying the ru ning and cycling is as much for mental condition as the physical. over the initial lockdowns it was mentioned to me that i get pent up and frustrated and difficult to live with as i become a ratty bollix if i dont have a physical outlet on the go. been doing alot of work on that over the last 2 yrs, so being laid up now is gonna wreck some of that progress aswell... but being aware of it at least i should be better able to myself managed.

yeah, in the grand scheme of things the injuries werent massively serious, and i know theres not much can be done about them other than time and rest. but i want to know for myself how much time thats gonna be and how bad the injury actually was. ive done a chest ligament coughing myself too ended up missing a close work colleagues stag because of it..

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
so, i havnt done anything for 3 weeks now... from Sat 2nd July to Wed 6th i was on early morning kick offs on a work project. on Wed i had a pretty serious accident at work, and ive been on leave since. currently coming to the end of a course of Ibuprofen and Codipar (Codeine and Paracetamol) for the rib cage damage. waiting on an xray result at the minute from Tuesday to see if i did actually crack any of them. im confident i did. 2 days after the accident i couldnt steer my car comfortably or lift my 2 1/2yr old. Got out for a walk last night, a gentle 5k that took an hour... i really really really want to go for a trail run... or a big long dirty mountainy cycle 😞 but i need more time on that i think. the condition loss is gonna be horrendous but equally me head is gonna start gettin irritated too...

Can a Mk1 window switch work on a Mk2
maybe but... mk1 octys, mk4 golfs, mk1 Leon, Cordobas and Ibizas... all also same problems with bellows cables breaking and or water corrosion.. cant say about mk2 octys, i think the engine problems over shadowed anything else...

anyone had trouble with message " KEY NOT FOUND" when you have the key in the car with you ???
thanks @wokwon i didnt know about that little trick.. my missus literally just walked into the house and asked me why her Seat Arona would be saying "KEY NOT DETECTED". i know she got a genuine battery replacement done only last week on one of the fobs after shed been getting the low battery warning. possibly shes picked up the other one and its losing power now too. will check it out later on.

Skoda Octavia IV pictures thread
no idea... i spotted it parked in the wild (parent and child spot outside local Dunnes) and took a snap. i have seen it again around town since, but im not sure if its someones car, or possibly one of the sales team in the demo model from our local skoda dealer. it is a cracking colour though, and id say it will be rare... its as bold a choice as the dragon green on a mk3... im gonna say something controversial though.... the mkiv.... its very samey shape to a saloon A3.. almost disappointingly samey...

No-Obligation test drives
used to pull into random dealers and take the odd car for a drive just to do something for a half hour if i had time to kill. any dealer that wont let you oark a car outside their door and drive a diferent one around without needing you make any sort of commitment is worth avoiding imo, as they clearly have trust issues so are going to be a lot harder to make a deal youd be happy with.
