Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
thanks @Gaz i suppose its worth saying the ru ning and cycling is as much for mental condition as the physical. over the initial lockdowns it was mentioned to me that i get pent up and frustrated and difficult to live with as i become a ratty bollix if i dont have a physical outlet on the go. been doing alot of work on that over the last 2 yrs, so being laid up now is gonna wreck some of that progress aswell... but being aware of it at least i should be better able to myself managed.

yeah, in the grand scheme of things the injuries werent massively serious, and i know theres not much can be done about them other than time and rest. but i want to know for myself how much time thats gonna be and how bad the injury actually was. ive done a chest ligament coughing myself too ended up missing a close work colleagues stag because of it..

so, i havnt done anything for 3 weeks now... from Sat 2nd July to Wed 6th i was on early morning kick offs on a work project. on Wed i had a pretty serious accident at work, and ive been on leave since. currently coming to the end of a course of Ibuprofen and Codipar (Codeine and Paracetamol) for the rib cage damage. waiting on an xray result at the minute from Tuesday to see if i did actually crack any of them. im confident i did. 2 days after the accident i couldnt steer my car comfortably or lift my 2 1/2yr old. Got out for a walk last night, a gentle 5k that took an hour... i really really really want to go for a trail run... or a big long dirty mountainy cycle 😞 but i need more time on that i think. the condition loss is gonna be horrendous but equally me head is gonna start gettin irritated too...

Running discussion - experiences, tips, equipment, motivation, etc
following from the above thought process... https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMN9v8wRe/?k=1 just watched the above. when i did my First Aid refresher earlier this year we were told about rice being phased out but not told why. this explains it nicely. im just not sure whether it applies to boppin yer head on stuff. . further research needed .

Can a Mk1 window switch work on a Mk2
maybe but... mk1 octys, mk4 golfs, mk1 Leon, Cordobas and Ibizas... all also same problems with bellows cables breaking and or water corrosion.. cant say about mk2 octys, i think the engine problems over shadowed anything else...

anyone had trouble with message " KEY NOT FOUND" when you have the key in the car with you ???
thanks @wokwon i didnt know about that little trick.. my missus literally just walked into the house and asked me why her Seat Arona would be saying "KEY NOT DETECTED". i know she got a genuine battery replacement done only last week on one of the fobs after shed been getting the low battery warning. possibly shes picked up the other one and its losing power now too. will check it out later on.

Skoda Octavia IV pictures thread
no idea... i spotted it parked in the wild (parent and child spot outside local Dunnes) and took a snap. i have seen it again around town since, but im not sure if its someones car, or possibly one of the sales team in the demo model from our local skoda dealer. it is a cracking colour though, and id say it will be rare... its as bold a choice as the dragon green on a mk3... im gonna say something controversial though.... the mkiv.... its very samey shape to a saloon A3.. almost disappointingly samey...

No-Obligation test drives
used to pull into random dealers and take the odd car for a drive just to do something for a half hour if i had time to kill. any dealer that wont let you oark a car outside their door and drive a diferent one around without needing you make any sort of commitment is worth avoiding imo, as they clearly have trust issues so are going to be a lot harder to make a deal youd be happy with.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
2 weeks of trail running as much as possible... ive been sticking to the tickincor area, nice long climbs and fire break/ deer path cuts in the trees. and trying out a few different routes. i really dont know why, but i find it so much easier to keep pushing myself to keep a pace whole on these harsher, rougher steeper trails than when i was running on the flat around the town. its just better, even when im completely shagged at the end after 8 or 9k half of which is uphill, it feels better than the shagged i was after 10k on the flat. antway, some routes and times.. tonights trot.. that local legend was after my second run up a new bit of hill. monday - same route other than one bit i did differently down into the trees, tomights was a tad longer because of it. its a tough route, but i think the whale shape route is a bit tougher as theres a really dirty climb in that for the last 2km back to the start.

So I went and bought a Jaaaag
question not about an m3... i was behind a 2021 218i today. looked tidy, vibrant colour. did a reg check on it out of curiosity and.... it was a m sport, but was only a 1.5??? since when did BMW stop using the displacement as the badge id?? i assumed prior to checking it was a 1.8, but engine capacity is listed as 1499cc. i know audi have been playing silly beggars for a while now with the 4.0 etc that are only 2litre diesels, but i thought beemer still had more more integrity than that.

2022 crazy used market…
used market is nuts. my late built mk2 octy is currently "worth" about a €1000 more than what i paid for it in 2019. problem is everything used is also worth more now, so i still cant afford to change it. its not just cars though, profiteering is going to kill everything soon though and we are gonna have a major recession. eg - i saw that someone had their house up for rent during the irish open this week for 15k! they obviously didnt get it and so got nothing other than a bill to pay for their own holiday abroad which they thought would be covered by the killing theyd make for the golf. result their spending power just got a kick in the nutz which will have other knock effects into the near future.

Octavia 1 TDi 90 Scrapyard rescued, crossover? ALH with AXR spec.
pretty sure the post 2005taxi special was a 100ps pd tdi eather than the ALH? i qouldnt say crossover, maybe when factory ordered as a classic some requested the couple of extras, or as a runout buold they just fired them on as a bonus to use up the parts bin. the egr delete, thats hard to know as rrally depends on your driving and a bit of luck. fir the deadlocks - ebay chinese pattern mechanisms are perfectly fine and about 20-25 quid each, and easy to swap if you can open the door :D

So I went and bought a Jaaaag
ive just seen something in that pic of the front end id not seen previously that i will now never unsee. and im not saying what it is, to preserve the dignity of the car. and its a tad annoying as i was going to say its growing on me a bit more, and the plate breaks the grill up enough thats its less massive looking.
