Tuesday was an over sleep morning... but i got out for a nice 8k on Wednesday. then i was a little getting up yesterday, so knocked it to a 6k. a 6k that ended really annoying. if you add them all up you get... 30mins 12seconds... i wouldve been sub 30mins except.. i had to slow up for 50yds as i approached a corner because there was 2 other giys approaching from the other side who i wouldve run i to if i kept my pace, and as they were going straight while i was turning left, i gave them right of way.... then ended up maintainng their slightly slower pace for the last 400m of my run to keep a responsible social distance between us 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ today was a 3rd day in a row after not great sleep sub 31 30 average meander down the 6k route, was tired...

i had never heard of it until this thread. and after a quick, i dunno would i bothered going to that level. a couple of tanks of good quality diesel and a bottle of millers run through with a proper long "Italian Tune up" (ie rev the nuts off it for as long as possible in every gear) should do everything you need. if thats not enough then you need to go deeockeaning the engine or you have a running problem that no fancy fuel will solve

double check that membrane too. a tiny hole, or gap in the adhesive can let a strangely massive amount of water through.. might be having a look around the edge of the windscreen too i seem to remember someone having water getting in and eventually discovering the windscreen adhesive had broken down in the corner and water was getting through it.

thanks Gerrycan, yeah, its a bit... weird.. running moonlight and cloud reflected street lights, but i try to stay to the riverside path which is relative straight, and quiet at that time of day. the cold and wet can make it feel a bit miserable but makes finishing and having done it anyway that bit more rewarding for the day ahead.

got a 6k in this morning.. slept.... middling. jr woke up early in the night, and resettled pretty fast so i got back to my bed for a change, and slept, but i was dreaming all night... those dreams where when you wake up you feel like you were doing whatever it tha went on in the dream? so i nodded off again for 15mins when the alarm went off, thus a late start so shortened distance. nothing special, just glad to get out and try to keep the routine.

in terms of things drivers seem unaware of - our L/A put a roundabout at the entrance to our estate during the summer. and i swear to god 80% of drivers seem to have forgotten how roundabouts work - ie that I have the right of way to enter the estate if coming from town over you, ****, heading towards town... on top of im pretty sure the number of speeding drivers o. the stretch of road has also increased... i watched a spanner in a 5 series get fairly squirrely while braking for the roundabout as i positioned myself to make it quite clear to him as he sped toward the r/about (id say 90kph in the 50 zone (55mph in a 30)) that "no numb nuts, i have priority not you..." and drove around in front of him as slow as i could without stalling... he was the 4th in the last week alone. on the specific articles above.. that reads like a really ****ty advertorial by the leasing company to try and increase internet traffic to the site and boost their own advertising revenue.. sites like that should be ddos'ed in to oblivion imo... you want more visitors? here have so many it kills your bs pedalling site, muppet.

stupid but... have you checked the fuse didnt go pop when the old was being intermittent and thats why it died?

ugh..... what an 'orrible night of not sleeping on spud jrs floor and in his 1400mm long bed.. but i eventually got out of there, at 625am. just in time for a run.. oh my good lord the wind was more like high velocity ice particles than air. i was also aware despite the black dark time of day, that the sky was clear, but there was a slowly approaching cloud bank that the forecast was saying is heavy rain on the way from the sth west. so i gambled but hedged it - 8k in under 45mins to get the extra distance but hopefully not be 3k from home on the 10k route when the rain got here. i got home dry other than sweat, but it was bloody baltic.

yeah, there is a way of doing it alright, but i dont know if you can if you have a different key for the driver door. what is the spec/trim level of the car? that would give a clue whether it had remote locking from the factory or not. the fact the key literally only locks/unlocks the drivers door as well as the fob id would guess theres a good chance its only wired to the drivers door lock mechanism. if you strip the door card you might get luck and the previous owner who fitted the thing may have replaced the rivets holding the window regulator panel in place with riv-nuts so you can have a look at the wiring without as much hardship

ugh... aftermarket locking or alarm... they get butchered into all sorts of wiring systems, it could be chopped into the immobiliser too, or does the original car key start the engine?

its all of it from what i remember- safety, type approval and they would also assess it for any duty due. probably 0 given the age of the etc anyway pretty sure mine was going to be 0... i didnt bother doing it in the end, as i wouldve had to then re- register and custom clear etc when bringing the car back to ireland again after uni..

to import the car once you have the headlight swap done you need to - get it MOT tested bring it to a DVLA Single Vehicle Assessment Centre where it is given a deeper going over than the mot in order to pay any import duties that may be due and then allow you get a UK registration plate for the car. i know this as i looked into it when i was moving to Aberdeen for 2 yrs in Uni back in 08, so i have no idea on the cost now.

breaking fuel filter clips while removing them is/was a running joke in the mk1 Octy sub as so many people posted about cracking them while opening up to replace the filter. this probably happened during the service and the pipe was just shoved back on - say nothin, the owner wont notice.... clearly it lasted a while at least before it worked it way off, or maybe it had just cracked and it failed just before when you noticed the smell.

i used a stanley knife to cut through the plastic.. thats how soft it is, dont even need a drill

well, i did some googling last night and found a guy selling a peruzzo 3 bike new cruiser for 20quid about a mile from my front door. itll do the job for now, given the price of the Thule ones and the farthest ill carrying the bike for the next while will be 10miles. so unless its wrecked it shoukd be fine. hes only selling as someone got him a roof mounted rack as a present. hed also cut the price from 30 to 20 only 2 days ago

H7 on the dip. Osram night breakers are decent and last pretty well. the philips extreme vision or whatever are "brighter" but anecdotally on here they dont last as long as the NBs. i use the Osrams on my cars and they are good. usually find someone on t'interweb with a discount going too, ive never paid full price. LED upgrades are a legal quagmire (many discussions about them here if you search any model subforum) so not worth the risk imo..
