  1. yeah, there is a way of doing it alright, but i dont know if you can if you have a different key for the driver door. what is the spec/trim level of the car? that would give a clue whether it had remote locking from the factory or not. the fact the key literally only locks/unlocks the drivers door as well as the fob id would guess theres a good chance its only wired to the drivers door lock mechanism. if you strip the door card you might get luck and the previous owner who fitted the thing may have replaced the rivets holding the window regulator panel in place with riv-nuts so you can have a look at the wiring without as much hardship
  2. officially you need freedom membership to sell through the site
  3. ugh... aftermarket locking or alarm... they get butchered into all sorts of wiring systems, it could be chopped into the immobiliser too, or does the original car key start the engine?
  4. its all of it from what i remember- safety, type approval and they would also assess it for any duty due. probably 0 given the age of the etc anyway pretty sure mine was going to be 0... i didnt bother doing it in the end, as i wouldve had to then re- register and custom clear etc when bringing the car back to ireland again after uni..
  5. to import the car once you have the headlight swap done you need to - get it MOT tested bring it to a DVLA Single Vehicle Assessment Centre where it is given a deeper going over than the mot in order to pay any import duties that may be due and then allow you get a UK registration plate for the car. i know this as i looked into it when i was moving to Aberdeen for 2 yrs in Uni back in 08, so i have no idea on the cost now.
  6. breaking fuel filter clips while removing them is/was a running joke in the mk1 Octy sub as so many people posted about cracking them while opening up to replace the filter. this probably happened during the service and the pipe was just shoved back on - say nothin, the owner wont notice.... clearly it lasted a while at least before it worked it way off, or maybe it had just cracked and it failed just before when you noticed the smell.
  7. i used a stanley knife to cut through the plastic.. thats how soft it is, dont even need a drill
  8. thats a good idea Olduns has up there...
  9. oi! Im Mac!! 😛 hello Mr OfSloidh
  10. well, i did some googling last night and found a guy selling a peruzzo 3 bike new cruiser for 20quid about a mile from my front door. itll do the job for now, given the price of the Thule ones and the farthest ill carrying the bike for the next while will be 10miles. so unless its wrecked it shoukd be fine. hes only selling as someone got him a roof mounted rack as a present. hed also cut the price from 30 to 20 only 2 days ago
  11. another early morni g, another tidy run... consistent enough pace, if a bit "slow" but countered by it being a 10k route
  12. excellent. i knew if i asked here first id get a proper answer to help with the googling!
  13. H7 on the dip. Osram night breakers are decent and last pretty well. the philips extreme vision or whatever are "brighter" but anecdotally on here they dont last as long as the NBs. i use the Osrams on my cars and they are good. usually find someone on t'interweb with a discount going too, ive never paid full price. LED upgrades are a legal quagmire (many discussions about them here if you search any model subforum) so not worth the risk imo..
  14. thread revival.. can you get a boot mounted bike carrier without a towball? donkey 2 doesnt have a hitch but i equally dont really want a roof rack jobby...
  15. if its getting power but not moving thats the deadlock shooting bolt on the way to toward failure, get on ebay and a get a replacement ordered up asap. no point taking it apart as its just wear internally. as niceyellow says, its held in from basically 3 sides. read through Deans link above for it and its not all there, search either Bowders1 or RobClubleys guides on door lock stripping. i had to do mine with the door deadlocked. if it happens, ask what to do... its doable but slow. no need to wreck or break anything!
  16. main stealers.. or a fellow brisky who has one already who might help @Rustynuts is quite good with the headunits, may have better help available 👍
  17. i presume you removed everything that holds it in? the entire mechanism is one piece. yes theres a microswitch in there, but it may also be the dead bolt is sticking. when its doesnt work, does it sound like its getting power and spinning the motor, or is it just dead?
  18. i was out tuesday too, it was grand just a handy jog out. today..... i fell asleep at 2345. i woke at 0250 needing a piddle. then Sr arrived at my bed side at 340an- could i bring him for a wee? ( he never asks for company during thenigjt??) and then, 455am Jr wakes up and starts calling me.. off i go, but.. no, im not allowed on the too snall mattress, thats where he decided to go asleep. so i was on the foam tiles.. sothat was me done sleeping! managed to sneak out at 630am and headed away to the west. rverything felt a smidge "handy so i powered on, and cleared ny first 10k run since the knee pains of last January! and it was sub 1hr! legs were sore in the shower though!
  19. hi @Bazbro amundsen+ needs an update package via the sd card slot
  20. if you know your engine code @Winocan probably tell the exact part number you need - most are bosch. ridex isnt oem, do good chancf it isnt being read properly by the ecu. if unplugging it is improving things that rules out a wiring issue
  21. youllneed a fairly long screw driver to get those 2 grab handle screws out too, pretty deep holes to them. i didnt have any long ones in my kit doing my lock mech replacement a few yrs back, i think i had 3 screwhead holders connected together in to get them
  22. no experience tbh, never had a 4x4, only an auld ALH diesel. however, i recall there being many discussions about it. the better one allows for changing the power distribution between the front to rear axles (brain is tickling at me that 90% to the rear is the max) while the regular one is fixed. have a search in thi section for haldex upgrades, should find some old stuff on it
  23. are they oem mafs you have tried or pattern? vag engines dont like pattern mafs (among other things)
  24. aye, theres a couple of different haldex units too, blue and green with blue being the "better one" iirc, which ever was the TT one.
