Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
oh man freezing fog is cold running, but the alpkit gear makes it a lot more tolerable. tolerable enough to ag an extra 500m... 8000meters.. in under 41mins. so ive added 3.2km to my original route and only an extra 5mins to cover it. i think thats solid progress. no where near award winning, i had a look at the leader board for those segment times... lets just say id be lapped (twice) by the entire top 10 if we all did my route together and they kept going until i finished...

disc brakes skiffing
id go with this.. or it was caught behind the front pad - theres a single deep scoring line about 1/2" from the outer edge of the disc. the thin black line along the caliper to the left of the pic, really does look like a crack rather than a shadow line though

Coolant Leakage Issue
it might be a hair line crack in the expansion tank that only opens when hot and under pressure. id look really carefully at that first, especially if theres coolant under it.

Octavia 2012 rear door mystery piece, cannot identify
seems a bit half arsed design wise that it pushes out the line of the rubber seal along the bottom of the glass? surely they couldve made it more discreet so it wouldnt squash the rubber..

What type of odb port
well disconnect the plug from the maf, then start the engine and compare how it runs with it plugged in. if the maf is going the signal to the ecu will be causing intermittent over/under fuelling as the air flow wont match what the engine thinks it has, which then can cause a rough/erratic idle hunting around all unsettled. its a free and easy test and if nothing else rules out something syraight forward. if it does improve then you need a new maf - get a genuine one not a pattern cheapy as they never work properly for very long.
-
What type of odb port
disconnect the maf if its failing disconnecting it will settle the idle as the ecu reverts to a default value. if the idle stays the same the fault is elsewhere. i would expect opening the filler cap is going to make it worse as the engine sucks in air which it doesnt want or need.

whats the engine code on the service book / wheel well sticker? thats your answer... unless its been mapped; the engine code is the engine spec.

Headlight adjustment
the motor may be flubbed in the one that wont adjust with the roller switch (had that on my old mk1) but its somewhat irrelevant - your issue is the headlights need to be focused regardless of the roller position. there is an adjustment screw on the headlight unit. if your headlight wont move in either direction while twisting it then the motor unit may have over wound and the projector has come off the end of the adjustment screw, or said adjuster screw is broken inside the headlamp. have a look at the good one and compare with the immobile one and see whats different..

2020 F1 Discussion
i only just watched the video of the crash... 1. the fact the safety cell went through the barrier is ridiculous 2. the fact the cell went rgrough the barrier probably saved him.. the amount of energy he would have absorbed if the barrier stopped him would have been carnage.. 3. the fire ball from the ruptured fuel tank.. christ

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
this morning... i had a sort of impromptu running partner for about 500m... another runners route overlapped mine for a bit and we were about 5m apart she was leading, and holding a decent pace, i was doing well to keep up. calves and shoulders say shes been running longer than me.. and her much springier gait. i also tagged on an extra 400m going around the block instead of up the steps by a bridge so 6. 4km today, every little helps!

Friday morning, was a nice run, really damp though, freezing fog... i also managed to get out 10mins earlier than usual today was a nice mild run, little cool and very dark, sun still down when i got home.. im really liking the making it longer, esp as im not stopping and walking a ***** to get home im probably back at the house quicker than i was on my more recent 5km route as the 6k brings me all the way home. downside... no cool down period so i get back into the warm house and flop sweat for 20mins getting spud sr's lunch and breakfast ready

it may be very tight to fit your adapter into the the hole in the panel to reach the port. the Bluetooth dongle i got is slightly too wide for the access panel and i had to break off part of the edging around the obd2 port, and it still needs a hard shove to get it in.

Speeding NIP notification
our pool fleet is worse... any speeding fines are sent to the lease company as the registered owner, who then forward to our fleet management dept who eventually send them to the relevent department's regional manager whose name is listed against the vehicle, who then has to ask everyone with access to the vehicle who was driving at the time and location of the offence for the lease company to be informed, via our fleet manager, so they can get the issuing authority to redirect it to the offender...

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
so, yesterday thank god was a day off any way, the lack of sleep would made any running an act of torture.as a reault i slept well last night, though the body needed another 4hrs sleep this morning when the alarm went off at 635am.. i was tempted to stay put in the cozy, warmth. but i got up and went. this morning was ruddy freezing, the irish freezing where its about 5deg, but 99% humidity so it feels like its -22deg. itwhen youre passing the early morning walkers with 2 jumpers, hats gloves scarves etc on and all youre wearing is a base layer and a teeshirt, doubt they think im insane i took the first km a bit handy as i was feeling the tired, total time +1min on my best effort for 6km but i dont care, i made myself do it when i didnt really want to, so im happy

Interesting stats on the decline of filling stations in the UK
its a trend everywhere i think. i dont have stats for over here, but - anecdote alert - my current town has .. 10 open fuel stations, only one is "independent" but they also own one possibly 2 of the franchised fuel stations in town. another 2 franchised ones are also owned by one family, and i can count at least 3 closed ones that are now used as second hand car sales forecourts, and one motor factors that once upon a time also had pumps..
