  1. okay, so i headed out on the East bound loop this morning, wasnt sure about the knee, but said id take it handy and gauge how it went. thank god with doing nothing other than stretching it out a bit yesterday it was grand this morning, so when i got around the eastbound 5/6k loop i was happy to head onto the west bound loop planning to make another decision at the turnoff for the 8km route. it was still alright so i kept going... onto the 10k route. at about the 8-9k bit theres a moderately steep climb on which i got a couple of twinges but it was okay. the last km is a constant climb too, but i got on okay. so i successfully completed my second ever 10k run! given the knee it was bit slower than Tuesday, it was also the same route but run the opposite direction so all the climbs and drops are t'other way round. im confident the knee thing is just a minor muscle twinge so fingers crossed its not going to feck up the future plans...
  2. yeah, id get that in me octy. little bit of sizing up time and it just becomes a real world game of tetris its impressive for a yeti given how small the boot area is
  3. if the tension is wrong on either handle pulley the mech wont work. i had the problem when ichanged one of mine. had to restrip the doorcard to get it open again. inside handle wouldnt work because outside Bowden cable end was on the wrong groove. pita!
  4. today was an odd one... i woke a bit late after a bad night sleep; had a load of things to do before dropping spud sr to school and then hoof it 2hrs sth west for a meeting and be back for pick up time. so i wasnt aiming for 10k, was gonba do 7, but decided id do the west loop first to see how long that is. but.... about 1k in and i got an ache in my left knee.... first one ever! quite annoying and i didnt want to do damage, so i culled it after the west loop and as it turns out.. that is a 5k loop. have to blame my school buddy for it though, he started running in November on a couch to 5k as gyms are closed. like me he never ran before, likes his cycling though. and he asked me on Monday after i updated him on my 8k acheivement "do you have much problems with your knees or hamstrings?" as his are aching from it. "nope, nothing yet, its all good" i replied. so he f'ing jynxed me, the ball-cox!
  5. it could be the tension on the outer handle cable has been altered by the breaking.. open the window, pull/push in the outer handle a bit and pull the inner release bar at the same time. it MAY let you in
  6. have you yad it plugged into a diagnostic reader to check for fault codes
  7. @Fastblack what part no is on the one you removed from your car? the electrical connector looks like the standard one to me. but if the part number matches then its correct.
  8. cam chains on petrols has a sticky post at the top of the section. worth a read to to know what to ask any potential seller. diesel vs petrol really comes down to which fuel suits your usage better as to what issues you may end up facing.
  9. thanks @Gaz_ im enjoying the running now which is a sentence i never in all my days thought i would write down im building toward a 50min 10k by new year. if i hit that ill be utterly thrilled
  10. oh man freezing fog is cold running, but the alpkit gear makes it a lot more tolerable. tolerable enough to ag an extra 500m... 8000meters.. in under 41mins. so ive added 3.2km to my original route and only an extra 5mins to cover it. i think thats solid progress. no where near award winning, i had a look at the leader board for those segment times... lets just say id be lapped (twice) by the entire top 10 if we all did my route together and they kept going until i finished...
  11. any chance of some photos of where the puddles /wet areas are forming that you can see?
  12. where are you talking about in relation to the overflow outlet?
  13. id go with this.. or it was caught behind the front pad - theres a single deep scoring line about 1/2" from the outer edge of the disc. the thin black line along the caliper to the left of the pic, really does look like a crack rather than a shadow line though
  14. it might be a hair line crack in the expansion tank that only opens when hot and under pressure. id look really carefully at that first, especially if theres coolant under it.
  15. 7.5km this morning.. oooooooèeeeeeeee look at me go still fairly well on nominal pace too. it was bloody freezing!!!
  16. i think the weather warning level of cold and rain got to me this morning... 7km this morning in 35m 14... ive never run that far ever, and to have held my target pace 5min/km for it to... that was nice
  17. seems a bit half arsed design wise that it pushes out the line of the rubber seal along the bottom of the glass? surely they couldve made it more discreet so it wouldnt squash the rubber..
  18. well disconnect the plug from the maf, then start the engine and compare how it runs with it plugged in. if the maf is going the signal to the ecu will be causing intermittent over/under fuelling as the air flow wont match what the engine thinks it has, which then can cause a rough/erratic idle hunting around all unsettled. its a free and easy test and if nothing else rules out something syraight forward. if it does improve then you need a new maf - get a genuine one not a pattern cheapy as they never work properly for very long.
  19. disconnect the maf if its failing disconnecting it will settle the idle as the ecu reverts to a default value. if the idle stays the same the fault is elsewhere. i would expect opening the filler cap is going to make it worse as the engine sucks in air which it doesnt want or need.
  20. whats the engine code on the service book / wheel well sticker? thats your answer... unless its been mapped; the engine code is the engine spec.
  21. the motor may be flubbed in the one that wont adjust with the roller switch (had that on my old mk1) but its somewhat irrelevant - your issue is the headlights need to be focused regardless of the roller position. there is an adjustment screw on the headlight unit. if your headlight wont move in either direction while twisting it then the motor unit may have over wound and the projector has come off the end of the adjustment screw, or said adjuster screw is broken inside the headlamp. have a look at the good one and compare with the immobile one and see whats different..
  22. i only just watched the video of the crash... 1. the fact the safety cell went through the barrier is ridiculous 2. the fact the cell went rgrough the barrier probably saved him.. the amount of energy he would have absorbed if the barrier stopped him would have been carnage.. 3. the fire ball from the ruptured fuel tank.. christ
