i like my running. i like getting out and the feeling of accomplishing something. i dislike getting up really early in the morning to do it. i hate getting up after a broken nights sleep courtesy of what i believe is an evolutionary oversight - the growing of teeth. anyway, i dragged my sleep deprived head out of bed and went running. went the tow path again, but added on a bit at the start to bring it up to a 10k. ive also noticed im getting pains in my knees since i swapped to my new asics trainers... not good, hope its just while they soften in.

think ill be alright for the supersapiens 7hrs, and 100km Jan challenge. the 200km is looking dodgy though... need to average 7km every day for the next 21days!! im only meant to be running 4 times a week..

slightly better sleep... not much though. went for run at 815am, but i went a different route for a look. 8.7k and 43mins later i was home for a wash.

im gonna say no, as the overall front suuspension on diesels is completely different to the vrs. eg droplinks are only about 4inches long on the diesel compared about a foot on the vrs

imperial or US gallons? i paid €1.189/litre yesterday for a tank of diesel, about $6.53 / imp gallon going by xe.com just now...

@DeanVRS20VT might delete one of the posts, to help confusion.. assuming you arent accidentally pulling out the switch to turn them on with regular lights.. check the wiring to the light clusters, in particular under the cd changer's home as this are can get wet if the windscreen washer hose separates and cause electrrical gremlins

spud jr messed me up again.. wake up cry at 130am; 230am & then 420am that meant i wasnt in bed again until 550am.... no way was i able to go anywhere this morning. then i got up at 815 and when i went out to start my car for trip to the recycling centre at 930, I learned it was -5degrees. still -2.5 when i got back from there and a tesco pick up at 1045am. may try and get a 5k in later..

postponed yesterday due to snowfall at departure time and being up half the night wIth a teething spud jr. today would have been a beautiful and perfect run if the footpaths were reliably salted.. clear sky, crispy cold dry air. but clipping my stride to be able to reduce falling risk my right knee is now sore 🤦🏻♂️ after 10.5k in 58mins and ive to go to Killarney now for the day walking worksites

not yet, though i think ill be making use of a spare tripod from work and getting an adapter for a more easily adjusted mount. i dont want spend a mad amount of cash on this yet either.. no idea if spud will maintain a serious interest yet..

look what turned up today... just flicked it in for a quick test, with the 10mm eyepiece i can more detail in the neighbours roof slates than if i was standing on them.. so the magnification is now 400/10 x 3 = x120. bit of good "seeing" this evening for a moon test would be nice..

subsidiary systems start to get shutdown by the ecu as the battery starts to lose life. its probably locking okay as it has a decent charge after a drive, but the slow drain is putting it into a sleepy state. if the Excide battery is the right size and strength for your car then its going to be fine.

yet another 2am wake up cry... and then he woke up 2mins before my alarm was set! so i left for my 10k an hr later than usual. it was more of the horrible damp cold. my legs necer warmed up, just ached the whole time. slowed me down kind of aching.. i think they felt the extra 1.5km hilly section from yesterday a bit more than i realised. and the recent lack of sleep is starting to catch up on me too.... any way i got through it and eventually warmed up. rest day tomorrow... hoping we avoid the blizzards forecast for the end of the week... really dont fancy running in that.

drop the sump and clear the pick up pipe, its likely blocked - common enough problem. if its clear and clean then the pump may be gone, but that its only doing it on heavy load i reckon your pickup pipe is a good starting place.

if the belt goes its a potentially (quite likely) destroyed engine...

from a 15second google i found this - Apparently it's some old British standard (related to the packaging, not the bulb itself), 477 and 499 are both identical H7. personally i have liked Osram Nightbreakers the last few yrs, though i currently have a set of philips extremes in. havnt gotten to see what they are like for proper night driving yet though. historically from experience around this forum the Osrams tended to have better life than the ohilips, though the guy in the parts shop assured me the newer philips ones have improved a lot. . they better given the higher price!

when was the belt done last? top of my head the skoda recommended change on the 1.9 was 1st 100,000miles / 5years 2nd, 3rd etc at 40,000 / 4yrs so your 2004 would be 2009, 2013, 2017,2021 based on age. mileage may vary this though.

iirc there is a little plastic barb at the end of aerial where it goes into the base. it squeezes in and the aerial slots into base then it springs out inside the base to stop it coming back out. thats the anti theft. you literally need to just pull it Nd will likely break that tab off doing so. if your replacing it with a fin though, im pretty sure you get the whole thing off inc the base in one go? pull down the headlining and undo the nut. then disconnect the wires from the base. then attach wires to new fin base, put in your fin in make sure the seal is a good fit or use some sealant if in doubt and do up the nut nice and tight.

hes not up to no hands yet the stabilisers are still on the back. Only got it mid summer, but havnt had the weather to do much other than around our estate since, where the amount of turning needed would hide any alignment issue. ill have a good look at it later, see if theres anything obvious.

is there a knack / tool / technique i can use to check and adjust the wheel alignment on spud srs 16in fixed frame bike? i have a feeling its off even though it looks pretty good by eye. noticed he was drifting left a lot yesterday on the cycle track which made no sense as its cambered the other way for drainage. then when i was walking it back up, before shouldering it, it felt like it was drifting again and was doing a lot more correcting than i felt i should have needed. so whats the best way to check the frame and wheels are square and tracking straight??

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 so i went for an attempted 5k yesterday with spud sr on his bike. ended up walking about half of the 4.7k we logged but carrying his bike on my shoulder so still counts. it was a slower than normal run... this morning was horrible. junior woke at 2330, 0215 and then at 445am... a bottle and a settle later i wasnt going back to sleep.. it was 605am. so i geared up and left at around 625am.. it was freeeeezing cold, damp, nasty and being sleep deprived and sore legs from the cold.. anyway, i pushed hard and did... 11.5km in almost an exact one hour. the hills on the lap of our block at the end made it really disgusting.

check the cable harness from the driver door to the A pillar. look for any wear/splits/ crushing etc. disconnect its connectors and check the pins for corrosion. if you have a multi meter continuity check all the wires. repeat this on the harness going to the door with the open window. check the relay itself in case its sticking. and then... get the door card off, and apply 12v directly to the rear window motor. if it spins that narrows you fault options,and you can close the window. if it doesnt the motor is failed.
