Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
so... its been a bad week. knee oain last tuesday on the run forced a walking section, which was depressing. weather has been crap and spud jr waking up middle of the night teething meant i just couldnt face going out, esp as i was just expecting knee pain. so... this morning, i got out the bike at 7am and went peddling. quite happy with that, i gavnt pedalled as far in 20plus years. need to get some road tyres..

Superskoda GLS delivery issues
hi, yes anecdotally superskoda deliveries can become a bit.. protracted. also, there is the complications of covud and the umpact that is having on international shipping, and... of course the big dirty B word in terms of import duties and other paperwork type problems..

skoda superb white dust vent
hi Les, if you check and ask in the Superb section you will get a decent answer there. this is just the hello section, which lets people say hi and also helps limit the damage the occasional "spambot" signup postings do across the forum, they get stuck here which makes the clean up easier

Good bye....
yup, hopefully we wont need to utilise the warranty on anything... and now we are up to a new one and decent size, plan will be keep it young and fresh.. on the deal... with lexi we paid €18500... sticker price 23950, list price of a new one to same spec (6months newer, otherwise identical) about €27000

Bike ride stats/Strava etc

Good bye....
we both test drove a manual kamiq aswell, it was what swmbo spottedlast week and liked the look of. i then spent a day convincing her that the arona was the same vehicle, but was available a bit older thus in budget. she found an arona in one nearby dealer we couldnt afford as it was only 1 yr old but wanted to test drive one anyway - it was an xcellence dsg in silver with 5500km on it. she really liked it, drove the manual kamiq same day and preferred the dsg. a little googling and a phone call to a seat dealer up the road.. "i have 6 of them ill send through the details" and after some chatting and back and forth between a couple of dealers with similar models we got a massive discount on it, so its now hers i have to say its a really nice place to sit. nicer than the kamiq, esp as the infotainment is built into the dash fully, instead of the weird half pedestal dust trap setup in the kamiq...

Good bye....
Hello un named Arona.... 1.0tsi 7speed dsg xcellence spec after swmbo drove it 38km home there is now 64km on the clock. 6months since first registered 9k less than new list price with lexi thrown in... too good to walk away!

Good bye....
.... to Lexi the 'Go. after almost 7yrs and 54000km of gocart driving pleasure that always put a smile on my face when i borrowed her, swmbo's citigo is, as i type, being given to a dealer to find a new home. i'll unveil Lexi's replacement later, when swmbo gets home.....

Best time to buy a new car
well it seems like a good time to get a seat arona here! there are loads of1yr old, 1 owner, delivery milage (10-50km...) being sold off. as in 1 dealer told swmbo he would give 5500 off the sticker price of any of the 6 aronas he has - all marked about 4-5 grand under the new list price - with her 2013 citigo... they were all fleet replacement vehicles for car hire companies last year that end up never being used due to the lockdowns and lack of tourism. another dealer down the road has 3, one of them is registered 150 vehicles after one in dealership A. so if in the market for a new car but cant afford one - have a look at the as new but 1 yr old stock available...

how to...bike adjustment

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
..awake at 345am.. got another 20mins between then and 630am alaram... 8.6km this morning. problems... had to stop and walk about 300m after about 5.5km, the pain in my right knee was awful. ive had a couple of days where it niggled since i started wearing new runners about 2weeks ago, but just ran through it with no issues. asics same as old ones, but today got unbearable. its fine again now, so im thinking its impact related rather than muscle/tendon. likely the new trainers have a different support in sole and changing how my foot is landing? i only have the 200km jan challenge left to finish, but ive another 96km to do in 12 days... i dunno will the knee survive that. forecast is misery for tonorrow so having a break. decision time then... abandon the 200km and try the bike for a while, or press on and risk damage... i think i may be checking the tyre pressures tomorrow and greasing the cassettes..

Radio issue
ii4c on my old mk1 octy if there wasnt a "clink" pulling out the key so that the keyhole cover clicked shut the radio would occasionally stay on. as if the car thinks the key is still in until that covers drops. a shot of contact cleaner and jiggle solved the sticky cover and solved the radio. it may be the same?

Skoda octavia vrs 1.8t
hi, and welcome to briskoda. i presume you mean - how many bhp can the standard rods and pistons take in the 1.8T engine? edit - translation : koľko koní znesú prúty i cant give a definitive answer, but i believe if you want more than 300bhp, the engine internals need to be getting looked at

Octavia 2006 losing water.....head gasket?
id wager the waterpump is leaking. or you have had a massive airlock after the replacement stat. but if its constant.. check the pump first. (esp if the same garage that did the belt is saying its the headgasket) get a genuine bosch temp sensor for the needle flutter. vag engines dont like pattern sensors and it start fluttering again soon.

not sure yet tbh... time will tell, though he does need the activity to burn through the energy he apparently absorbs through photosynthesis.. hopefully we will be able to rejoin a pool soon after lock down and get him back in the water too. he loves swimming, but havnt been able to go in a year! (between the arrival of his brother, mother being unwell, then the lock downs...)

im impressed... he managed about 3.5km of the 5.15km we did. about 1.5km he didnt manage i piggy backed him 🥵 hes only around 19kg, but jogging with that bouncing around is heavy going! any way, he enjoyed himself, managed to do a bit of it at my regular pace, but mostly was at his pace, which was alright for a nearly 6yr old

Coolant Leakage Issue
topup the coolant only to the max line on the expansion bottle. monitor it for a while. if you overfill it, it will over pressurize the system when it heats up and expands. the pressure increase effectively lowers the boiling point, so youll then lose even more.
