  1. It is who you are talking to at Skoda HQ or the Customer Services Provider, or Skoda / VW Finance. Arse and Elbow is the issue with them.
  2. Which is lovely. But just a pity they can get it wrong at the Engineering / Manufacturing then at Dealers, and then again. Factory Trained, and the product replaced still has Design, Manufacturing or material faults.
  3. BS i think. Recalibration to suit the increased tyre size. You are looking at the wrong size. Go a smaller wheel to get a tyre with more sidewall and even rubber on the road, and no greater circumference. Tyres / Wheel size that will not cause you issues, including fitting and then the Type / Approval and Insurance.
  4. Welcome. Sorry really i have no idea what you should do as the DPF might not be an issue, it depends how the car was used. Was the water pump replaced at the time the cambelt & tensioners were. When was servicing, oil changes done, annual or variable, 18,000 - 20,000 miles. What service history is there, Pollen filter, Air Filter, Brake Fluid etc? Are the tyres good, do the brakes look OK, and what is the MOT history looking like, passes, any failures, and advisories and no record of work done? The higher mile car might be better serviced than the newer lower mileage one. Might need less doing in the next year or 2.
  5. @JackHenry Welcome. Look see what size is fitted now. Maybe while checking the tyre pressures then resetting the TPMS. What sort of recalibration are you getting done if your intention is fitting tyres with a greater circumference / total diameter than on now?
  6. & all that matters as far as the PCD is that Fabia, Roomster, Kamiq & Scala are 5x100. ............. As to better tyres on the rear and all that discussion. There are the vids, the arguments and much else over the decades. Do not have crap tyres on any end, and the worse tyres on the front are no help if the tail end with no drive but ESP as standard loses grip and the front steering / braking -abs / Traction / Friction means no steering, to counter act what ever. If you even notice the back end sliding.
  7. In and around the UK there are plenty Automatic Gearbox Specialists that Service & Repair DSG,s / S-tronics. That is there full time job. Maybe some are ex VW Group techs, but have a speciality now. I am lucky in having 1 a mile away, an Automatic Specialist that is.. There are others about Ex Master Techs now Independents, where you go when Dealership Fitters mess up. They own & have access to all the gear (Equipment) / tools, parts & the software and the 'knowledge' & experience. Many Main Dealers do not have this and farm the work out to the Automatic Gearbox Specialists. Those that do not often need these Specialists to sort out what their incompetent Technicians or Fitters attempt.
  8. Minus 4 C. Battery at 92% range 93 miles. Turned on pre heat now and will see in 5 minutes how the scores on the doors are. See if the windows drop ok. Should be fine it was dry when parked and now just hoar frosted.
  9. I am not looking up to see what that wheel number is. I am pretty sure the Mk2 wheels will be fine on the Mk3, But @Carlston can give you the scores on the doors. It would be nice if you just posted the Wheel size of the Mk2 Fabia rather than us looking them up. & say what the size of wheel and tyre on the Mk3 just now. EDIT.
  10. @EnterName Your DQ381 might be wonderful for ever, serviced early, because the failure rate is not 100%. But the matter in hand is the issues, the growing issues and those saying mine is fine is lovely for them. As to Gearbox Technicians and mechanical engineers saying bullet proof, well that is questionable. 'Fake news' even. *Early servicing appears to make little difference to the MCU failure issues, many failing being pretty new, not high mileage and often below 60,000 miles.* The issue with main deal techs fitting new or refurbished MCU,s. Training, skills, so need to watch the Youtube Vids on how to set up before fitting. The same nonsense keeps getting repeated. All he gear and no idea. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/491117-superb-mechatronic-issues/page/2 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/491117-superb-mechatronic-issues
  11. @wyx087 -3*oC at present. This being repeated is a nonsense. 'Most people charge at home' is not true really, is that supposed private / business users of passenger cars and some with vans? The Office for national statistics & the HMRC / Government, RAC / AA does not even know how many people in the UK, how many Houses / Accommodations there are, or how many drive. Or work, pay taxes etc etc They know how many cheat benefits supposedly, odd that, why not stop them then? Winter prep starts in September for many in the UK because temps can drop even though the BBC / Sky weather will say the first real cold weather of the winter in November just as they said this week, just because it will be cold in the south. Some use winter wash all year in the UK because low night / day temps can be anytime. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/140853-get-it-ready-for-winter/page/9 Fortunately extreme low temps in the UK are not common and the Thames freezing over. But, frozen is frozen. be it at zero or minus 5 or 10 degrees C. TESLA, Amazing advances in technology.... Not. As to washing cars in freezing weather, that always amazes me for stupidity of others. But in the UK it can just be rain or thawing before a freeze, or people pouring water on the door locks to defrost or the filler flap and not expecting it to be frozen next time when they have no warm or hot water, rea or coffee handy, or do not need to pee.
  12. Re, Charge Place Scotland. What is the story as far as Scotland and chargers 8 kW or more around Scotland with chargers that only can start with a RFID card or the App? ChargePlace-Scotland-owner-guidance-V510.24.pdf
  13. -20*oC or even lower Winter Screen wash really is not much cope even at -12*oC ambient. Even if it comes out the nozzles it freezes on the screen and leaves you seeing nothing. Most likely to freeze in the pipes under the bonnet without a heat source under it. @3*oC here now. Damp traps in the car and plugged in ready for pre-heating later tonight or tomorrow.
  14. Those with no children, partner or friends to borrow a car from or money to hire an ICE vehicle might just have to make do travelling with what they have, parked out on the street as they have no off street parking. If -20*oC the traffic might be moving pretty slow or not moving. Many a frozen up windscreen / washer liquid. Mostly that will be EV,s with frozen washer fluid.
  15. ^^^ Then when you know it is not faulty there can be an odd sized Spare Wheel fitted at a totally different pressure, maybe even narrow SPACE SAVER at 60 PSI and the TPMS reset and no warnings. Or there can be different circumference tyres front and rear and no TMPS warning. Or a new pair and an old pair on and still no TPMS warnings.
  16. 4 perfectly matching tyres, or even all 4 or 2 pairs at matching pressures are not required to not get warning with the TPMS when not faulty and resetting OK.
  17. I have only used the Auxiliary heater up to now while plugged in and charging. Trying now while just sitting parked. Seems to be not taking too much energy. The heated seat stays nice and hot once off and stopped long enough really as long as not getting out of the seat. It can not be on when stopped / parked and car turned off.
  18. Simple truth, they can be Bl00dy expensive cars to run for many who do not have cheap home or work tariffs. Cheaper charging might require to park the car and charge away from where they live. Even that charging for longer on less powerful chargers might not have the cost of charging cheaper than running a petrol or diesel car.
  19. Very important win with a Warranty Claim. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/528055-succesful-warranty-claim
  20. Welcome and well done. Really really well done. A game changer for any Skoda owners of different models with corrosion issues and Skoda / VW trying it on . You really will be setting a president. A Case that can really make a difference to others. Very strange they have rolled over. There are no T&C,s in the Corrosion warranty about Annual, B-Annual or Periodic Inspections for the Corrosion Warranty so why they keep saying not carried out i have no idea. The Service stuff from Skoda. / VW about main dealer servicing does show that Body Inspections are part of the Services. ? Is the panel holed / perforated more than just pin holes? Was an inspection and report done and the paint measured to see that no previous repair / repaint had been done? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/456455-rust-around-the-fuel-filler-door If you only noticed it after 8 months but on a 8 or 9 year old car, was that because it had been painted already for the sale to you or before into that dealership selling to you. (A cover up job had been carried out at some point.)
  21. @rbhelle I take it you mean you sit on a slope holding it with your foot on the accelerator & in D. How can it war out pads quicker? When parked on a hill you are in P Front wheels locked, (Pawl holding) & with the Parking brake on, back wheel braked. You need your foot on the brake pedal to start, move shifter to D, and foot is on brake, you might let off the Parking brake and accelerate. The Hill hold is there just to let people move their foot from brake to accelerator, stop car rolling back, they are not left foot on brake and right on accelerator, they might be letting the parking brake off. No wear, no nothing out of sorts happening, it is all pretty seemless. But each to their own. Little difference be it your Wet Clutch DSG,s or Dry Clutch DQ200,s. .......... Things moved on to e-Brakes and in came 'Autohold' still press the brake and actuate the brakes front and rear and hold the car but take your foot off the brake pedal. Held until the accelerator or brake touched. Maybe with stop / start active as well. No extra wear of pads, you is holding a stationary vehicle.
  22. ^^^T0$$er. Bigger battery EV and a house with a drive / off street parking. The great divide. Thine eyes are blind he can not see if he does not wear his glasses or open his mind.
  23. @rbhelle What is the problem with Hill Hold Assist / Hill hold control being active? It is only holding the car for 2 seconds between a foot on the brake pedal and to the accelerator. For people using 1 foot and not the parking brake when on a slope.
  24. I just read that some in receipt of some benefits may be exempt from the fee, and now i know who. (Whom.)
  25. @J.R. Magnifying my word. Winter sun can be very intense in clearer air, and lower in the sky possible reflecting differently for other times of the year. Nothing special going on, Just like when kids with a bottom of a broken bottle we used to light fires as no magnifying glass available as we used in the Cub Scouts or mirrors. Try a search, Using a magnifying glass to start a fire. You look at the Solar towers aiming the heat from the sun directed by mirrors to generate power / heat a liquid to turn turbines. This amazing modern technology will have been used thousands of years back to start fires. Even Crocodile Dundee must have learned it from maybe a book if not the Natives of Australia...
