  1. Welcome. Is this from heat in the car, engine compartment? Not the sun reflecting off a building / glass and an external cause?
  2. Forget what a 3 cylinder 1.0 TSI MHEV does. But the similarity is the 1.5 TSI does need to fire up. The engine can stop while coasting, and you can have drive from the battery. EV mode only. It is not the same as a PHEV though for running in EV mode.
  3. @CFB Is this a Motability lease car that they are buying and which is getting adaptions for disability requirements?

Well the only LSD they might know comes as tabs, or maybe on little bits of paper. It is mushy season, these might brighten there minds.

Sounds OK. Actually sounds better than OK if the car drives well. Maybe you will be needing to change the spark plugs, pollen filter and cabin filter, maybe tyres, but that is as with any car. Check the windscreen looks ok, not too many tiny chips.
  6. I would leave the DQ200 DSG well alone. There are 2 oils in that box, in the MCU and in the Box, it is not 'Sealed for life' it just has not Service Schedule, guidelines, advice or recommendations for oil changes. The Timing belt is not due for change. That Recommendation, Schedule, Specification or Advice was changed last June / July. The Water Pump gets changed when faulty. This is not a TDI.
  7. They are in the Car Trade Business. A deposit is one thing, and paid on a credit card for protection, but if their business is wanting paid for a vehicle still In Trade or maybe not even with them as the Registered Keeper they are not getting my money. They could be in Administration overnight. At least 'Skoda Approved Used', HPI checked. Get them to send the Report from the Rigorous Workshop Checks of the vehicle, and the Full Service History. The Body Check report etc. Thanks @Gaz for these from your Skoda Approved thread...
  8. @Aspman'The Gin Bothy' or 'Bothy Larder' more likely. http://ginbothy.co.uk (The lookalike but i think newer one has the registration HAM but it is parked at The Cross.)
  9. Do not pay until viewed / inspected and you are happy with the deal. Why should they be paid while they have the car?
  10. I have only seen 2 members post on here abut failures of DQ500,s while the threads have been about DQ381 MCU,s.
  11. Simple toilet. Only 20 pence but £1 would be ok at charging hubs in Scotland.
  12. Not something that can easily be done and plenty threads asking the same about DSG,s. I drive a BMW and shifter opposite of VW,s. Total PITA in my opinion.
  13. 51pence a kWh, £8.80 to get to 98% and 95 miles indicated. Expensive enough for 55 miles. Edit. Down hill to the Harbour and at 100,% 105 miles after 4 miles. Must just try to 97% next time.
  14. I am getting a charge at 45 kW which is fine. 4 degrees C just now. Started 55 miles ago with 106 miles range showing and 1 degree. No AC on heating at 17 degrees C. So 55 miles and used 66% battery, average speed 60 mph. The 44% battery left was showing 40 miles range when I plugged in. Not great really but I could have slowed a bit but I was going with the traffic in the outside lane, cars and vans, 70 mph average cameras. A few hundred yards of 50 mph at Laurencekirk. 2 more charges needed before home tonight. A cheap one further north and a PodPoint on my way south Awkward to get charging at this Tesla Aberdeen and lucky to get this charger.
  15. It is getting really quite common, but @EnterName is not seeing these reports and the Technician / Mechanic 'Gearbox' guy he spoke to says they are pretty bulletproff. VW Group know the failure rate while in warranty, must have a good idea of the reports of failures out of warranty. So like the DQ200 DSG issue, it needs someone or people / class action to be taking a court action, or maybe an Australian Regulatory body to take them and then a Senior VW Executive can be asked in court the actual numbers / statistics of premature failures. That happened in Scotland where a Civil Action was started against VW Group / Skoda UK actually over a DQ200 DSG. They did not go to court, did not defend them selves because that would have meant revealing the number of failures. Same with 1.4 TSI / TFSI 1320136 PS Twincharger Engines. They just replaced engines, paid costs and had a Confidentiality Agreement signed.
  16. Owners here have had VAQ Diff failures, leaks / cracks with non serviced ones. So if any VW Group cars, Skoda, Audi, VW or SEAT have VW Approved used cars with a Warranty and they know the VAQ has not been serviced but are selling with FMDSH they are at it. They know not 'Serviced to the manufacturers recommendations'. But then Service Desk Staff or even Workshop do not know the Recommendations, Guidelines, Advice, Spec or Schedule. If you buy a car, and all is well, and you buy a Approved Extended Warranty remember they will sell it but if you claim for the likes of a failed VAQ Diff they might come back and say 'No Servicing record'. If you buy one cost in getting the servicing done. New car Manufacturers warranty. Used /Extended Warranty much the same. SKODA_Warranty_Terms_July_2023.pdf

Plenty threads here over the years on painting calipers or refurbished ones. eg Fabia Mk1 vRS in green. Appropriate heat resistant paint is just 'Simply Clever', AKA Common Sense.
  19. There is areas within 30 miles of where Just get a Tesla is where there is no Mobile reception, Digital Radio, & the Sat Nav disappears. A total PITA when the phone keeps dropping out etc. Hopeless not only in winter time. Even reception to EV chargers sims is pathetic, or trying to call a help line. Tomintoul probably the worst.
  20. Welcome to the forum. Always worth having a look at the various threads & posts on the same subject. Most subjects have been covered many times. Wheel & Tyre section and this section. Briskoda search or Search engine key words.
  21. What has it been counting down since it was serviced and the technician reset the indicator for 20,000 miles or 24 months? Flexible / variable Is 18,000-20,000 actually. Had the Tech or Fitter left the car with Inspection Service and oil Service showing at different amount of days? Ie not reset it properly.
  22. A mod might move this to the Mk3 Superb section...
  23. @chrisandrew64 TSI or TDI ? Is it a Euro 5 2.0 TSI that there are known issues with as far as excessive oil use? Do you not check the oil level regularly, and if you do do you know where it is checked cold and as it should be checked, at the normal operating temperature. so once up to 90*oC indicated or so. The question is, where is the oil going if the correct quantity is in when topped up?
