the truth about electric cars
E Manufacturers like VW Group were saying (trying it on) Warranties were invalidated by doing too many 'Launch Controls' as they knew you had from the ECU. & BMW saying the same about Track use of their Ultimate Driving Machines. Issue right there was they sell Media cars, or Ex Media cars through Dealership Networks and even with Approved Used Warranties. Cars that were at Launch Events on Tracks or Roads or Offroad courses. This was at the time of Turbo failures & gearbox issues and diff issues of some VW Group performance vehicles. & high oil use, Audi RS3,s. The media teams had to go warn up PRESS cars before influencers took cars out and ragged them. There was no warnings or anything in brochures or owners manuals that when you bought or borrowed or just drove a performance ICE vehicle that 'Launch Control' use should be rationed. ................ If you watch various Police Accident type programmes they know when a bulb was on or off at the time of accidents / incidents, when the brakes were or were not applied before a collisions, air bags deployed etc, Enjoying 'English roads' ! When brains were being handed out they were off that day.

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher Points mean prizes, or clicks for the Dude with the Raybans, and a Smart Watch on the Wrist & a phone in the pocket that even knows his heart rate. So nothing new here, other than to him maybe. Years of experience and a nose for a story while working in media, but more a nose for click bait. It has been so for years now with all kinds of vehicles. Manufacturers / Dealers have had demonstrators tracked and how used and functioning. Motorists have been convicted using data from vehicles for a long time. As to 'Snitches', The Mac Master is just a muppet. Insurance Loss Adjusters / Examiners and Police / Accident investigators have ECU,s investigated. Not looking for snitchers, just evidence..

EV real world range and cost to charge
Warm weather and MINI Electric charging to 100 % at home and getting at least 110 miles from full battery is costing me £32 for 350 miles. That is 110 miles from the 6.7 pence a kWh and then public charging fast (slow AC) @47 pence a kWh & twice on Rapids @ 49 pence a kWh. 45 MPG & petrol at 135 pence a litre (£6.14 a gallon) would be 7.7 gallons, £47.25 40 MPG 8.75 gallons = £53.72 200 miles or even better 250 miles from a home charge @ cheap rate would be nice. I would not have a New Chinese built MINI to be getting that as i like how the current car costs me more to run. Maybe for the future a BEV with 350 miles range and being able to do that using 100 kWh of off peak so only £6.70 will be just too sensible to not get.

the truth about electric cars
Is it MG UK trying to gag and not just a dealership? Well that is simple enough to get out to the Motoring Journals and the Press. Not as hard as it was with VW Group and any issues that Haymarket Media Group, Autocar / What car and Dennis Publishing Auto Express were deaf dumb and blind to.

the truth about electric cars
? What is the safety issue please with the MG EV,s.? Anything to do with the one that allegedly Kidnapped the gent from the Glasgow area? I can not believe with his Social Media presence that there has been no more on that story. This thread is about The truth of EV,s,'. Facts can not be anti, libel, defaming of the likes. If it happening it should be public and open to discussion. If just a Chinese whispers then maybe not.

air con
@markbsac when you put it to Low what actual temperature does it get to in the centre of the car, and what temperature was it at inside before and what is it outside? So basically what is the too cold, is it lower than 14 degrees C? Does it get to that and keep going lower and just how low?
-
Is it too expensive?
Is it a Skoda Approved used car, and is it just getting a 2 year warranty if bought using finance? It is not Serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations, Advice or Schedule even though it has only done 180 miles. So brake Fluid is due a change. if that was not done in 2022 or 2024. (Not being serious but they want a sale.) After all when was it built 2019 and was it bunkered during Covid early 2020 on? I take it the mileage is from when taken out of In Transit mode at the time of the PDI. ? Has it actually been in a showroom all this time, or when was the showroom period? Ex Showroom, maybe 3 months.

the truth about electric cars
He is a bit casual regarding facts. ? Did TESLA take Jeremy Clarkson to court? They attempted to sue the BBC. So TESLA sued the BBC for libel because of what Jeremy Clarkson said on Top Gear 2008 review of the Tesla Roadster. The UK courts ultimately rejected Tesla's claim and dismissed the lawsuit and they lost the appeal.

Which gearbox?
Given the premature failures of DQ381,s i would want an extended warranty covering a DSG, but that really needed to be 5 years purchased before first registered. Have you driven a 1.5 TSI e-tech?
-
Which gearbox?
@kannanni the idea of the Mild Hybrid and the DSG was to get the emissions but to keep using dQ200,s. They are no more of a lottery than a DQ381` DSG is as far as longevity,
-
Which gearbox?
VW Skoda call the DSG for the e-tech a DQ200-e
-
High oil temperature
? What was the ambient temperature (air temperature.)? Be sure the oil level is nice and high, but not overfilled. Up in area A of dip stick, so full quantity in doing the cooling.
-
Which gearbox?
@Breezy_Pete should be able to confirm. First one is a 1.5 TSI PHEV an iV so a DQ400-e DSG, 6 speed wet clutch. (oil and filter changes of the DSG @40,000 mile intervals. the 2nd a 2.0 TDI so a DQ381 7 speed wet clutch DSG. EDIT, Thanks @logiclee Sorry my error thinking a PHEV and not a MHEV.

VW own the Warranty provider. Dealerships / authorised repaired are your agent as much as they are theirs. A master tech or warranty manager on your side is far better than one that is not and not supporting a claim. I worked in or for dealership and did Assessments for paint / corrosion warranty claims in Dealerships. I also do rectification of paint defects. I also did pre and post sale treatments in the past. PDI preparations as well. Also did dealer fit options for different manufacturers.

Looking of getting another skoda (Superb Estate 2025) advice please
Do you mean a 1.6 TDI diesel? (Do they still do these? ) They would have the same gearboxes. 1.5 TSI ACT. Have you looked at PHEV,s petrol plug in hybrids? Could you charge at home? That is a different DSG from a 1.5 TSI ACT. A 2.0 TDI is a 7 speed wet clutch DSG.

Finance - 2nd year warranty. Want to buy in cash
Cash used to be king, and still can be. If you have cash and just use that then lovely. But car sellers in dealership make money with finance or did and a better deal might be had, then pay off soon. Keep the extras. BUT, I am waiting to see what Black Horse have to pay me from Dealers taking commission. Really it cost me little, but I never claimed with PPI or with VW defeat device scandals as I lost nothing. But then many that were like me and lost nothing recurved cash money payments. I will go with the flow on this one. & Take the money if getting paid some.

Re warranty claims. Dealerships or actually staff so employees say many things. They are not the Warranty provider / underwritten. They might give opinions, but the claims and any decision goes to the Warranty Provider. They look at declared or approved modifications just like Insurers do. Many do knock back stuff but have then to reconsider once to he facts are clearly understood.

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
36 miles added, 11.5 kWh 11kw AC charging £5.45. so just about the same as running a petrol when £0.47 pence a kWh slow charging. Or the 50 pence. 70 pence public charging and 50 kW max is too expensive IMO. The minimum £5 charge that had me plugged in for just over an hour to get a fivers worth is ridiculous.
