  1. A Skoda Fabia carries 4 adults just fine, 3 if the driver is tall. Has a good boot in that mid sized car class. Family car for many that do not need Airport Transporter / Funeral / Wedding sized cars like a Superb. There are new, pre reg diesel and petrol cars at dealerships for many many manufacturers around the UK. As far as Factory Builds then waits might well be expected, and if a dealer someplace can not supply what someone wants in the way of a NEW car there will very likely be one someplace else that can. EV mandates are one thing, there is the Fleet C02 requirement for the UK. That has lots to do with what Toyota and other have to offer ICE wise or MHEV, or PHEV.
  2. Any engine could be put in as a replacement at any time, even from a salvage yard where cleaned up, wrapped up and delivered. 'Water in the hole Captain'. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/324108-replacement-engine-engine-numbers-v5-dvla-skoda-uk-what-happened
  3. Petrol / Diesel at the pumps can go to £2.00 a litres so £9.09 a gallon to take you 45 miles and still that is much like 10 kWh public charging @ 89 pence a kWh. BP Pulse. Maybe the fortunate with their Cheap Rate Home charging that really is not 50 % of EV drivers no matter what the Government, RAC, AA or who ever says need to think about the bigger picture. 60 pence a kWh and Porsche Taycan getting 2.4 miles a kWh is 24 miles for £6.00
  4. Engine code needs checked. Not that that means anything as Skoda / VW replaces ones under warranty and told keepers DVLA did not need informed as like for like and they had the same numbers. They lied.
  5. 11 x 28.6 at the absolute worst would that not be? 315 miles.
  6. My best guess, the engine was cleaned / degreased, or there was a flood pre you getting the car and the Dealership sold an Approved Used car and without know if serviced to Schedule, recommendations, guidelines or advice of the Manufacturer put it out without them servicing. Changing plugs, The Rust / Corrosion was there then, was there when the plugs were changed and is not somehow disappearing as if by magic. ?How many registered keepers before you, and how long did the last keeper have the car?
  7. I can understand them not wanting to take any blame, or expense. You should have those that put them in have to take them out. Personally i would do what is needed to do to remove them. Penetrating oil, the good stuff, not just any old water dispersant would have been down there for a day or so. Then i would be driving the car and getting the engine and plugs hot, and with care and a good plug socket be removing the plugs.
  8. @Bobov Must be a sensor or wiring issue that the light is still on. Because if you had low oil and got a Yellow Oil Can warning light, or low oil message and opened the bonnet yet did nothing, never topped up the oil the light goes off for 100 km / 62 miles or so. PS A Red Oil Can symbol light is Low Oil Pressure.
  9. Welcome to the forum. Before the plug change at 72,000 were the plugs changed at 40,000? I had to look at your profile because you do not say where the car is parked, or how long you have had it. Was it valeted sometime maybe engine / engine compartment steam cleaned. De-greased, detergent. (Sodium / salt) = corrosion quite commonly. Is it parked at the seaside or maybe before you got it.
  10. Is that a pre-mot then or inspection service before the MOT?
  11. I believe that releasing a hand brake / parking / e-brake will have the light go out, but that does not mean automatically that the pads are not sticking, caliper seized or a cable is restricted / sticking. Servicing of the brakes required.
  12. As to paying going up. Try an EV where you can see exactly what is gained. I often go up on route / road a direct why, shorter steeper climb but return the longer route with the same drop in elevation but more regenning / coasting. Generating power. Like cycling routes in a circular manner really, anti clockwise or clockwise, same journey different energy exerted. That can be measured easily e-biking. Power / assistance required. How much battery to you get home with or not.
  13. @domhnall might know more about the batteries and degradation.
  14. No idea what else the sales person could say. They want to sell it. I think that is really pretty poor. Looks like it could need a new battery while still under warranty.
  15. Try the way of getting the light out as comes from the owners manual.
  16. Welcome. 69,426 miles. Has it had the spark plugs changed at a service at 40,000 miles. Have you read about the GPF and what to do? Is it doing short trips cold starts? GPF & Stop / start might be if you are doing. Engine Stop / Start issue is maybe just the battery condition, state of charge. Battery needs tested.
  17. I had older RR gearboxes in my Land Rovers and they got the oil changed and had the dip stick tubes sealed over for going wading, but then there were axle breathers and a snorkle. My BMW gearbox is due a oil change but it might be moving on before it gets it.
  18. Mata AI had an answer. We can take our pic.
  19. @super717 The Manufacturer has no Service Schedule, guidelines, recommendations or advice on servicing DQ200,s. They never introduced since 2007/8 any Oil change servicing advice on the 6 speed tiptronics to change the ATF either. ? Could i ask you who the Oil Manufacturer of the OEM oils used in a DQ200 DSG are?
  20. The new generation of BMW BEV,s are looking interesting. I am seeing lots of the current ones that look like just cars about and also the munster SUV,s. I will never have one and likely never drive one since right handed and drive right hand drive cars and am not going to be touching a screen in the middle while driving. Looks like lots of steering wheel input needed, or very light steering, or is that Deep Fake stuff.?
  21. Floor the accelerator now and you can get to 140 mph into corners, maybe not out with them. Better braking is good if with a fast car you take more chances overtaking and need to get in quick before over take is completed. Obviously i am joking, we all want to go quicker safely & stop quick and no over heating brakes in the parallel universe we drive in.
  22. Nothing is strange in the UK about anything to do with Type Approval, Legislation, MOT,s and how lax they are. As far as the insurance industry nothing strange there either. They will sell write offs and other than those write offs where parts can not be used they might well be rebuilt. repaired, well or poorly and be back on the roads. Maybe using a stolen vehicle or it,s parts as a donor. Anyone can run a garage, or tyre and exhaust centre and anyone can buy and repair or modify vehicles. & still, you can get a MOT around the UK without the car ever being at the testing station. There needs to be CCTV at all testing bays as there was in a pilot scheme with motor cycles at some test stations. VIN readers & stations and Registration Plates that can not just be changed to any car would be a starter. & a Annual Sticker / QR / Bar code on the windscreen showing MOT,VED & Insurance would be 'Simply Clever'. Actual Build Stickers the MOT / Police can check, and the cars revenue weight checked and plugging into the OBD would be simple, and was proposed. Came to nothing.
  23. @scree82 Once you increase the acceleration are you going to start driving faster on the roads or taking the car on track? Is the car going to become heavier than it is now with a remap? Brake upgrades is a great idea if the brakes are poor performers, as is tyres. Suspension as well because obviously a Revo remap makes a difference into corners at the UK,s 60 mph NSL.
  24. Time to have it done again then and a reset of the clutches. Software reset.
  25. Is that 110,000 km? Was the DQ250 DSG given an oil & filter change at 65,000 km or so? If they can not identify the issue with all the gear and more than ideas and a test drive then that is a problem. Best go to an Automatic Gearbox specialist where they might know their arse from their elbow and give a damn,
