My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
The old ones and new ones are faster than official figures. And Sport not automatically quicker. Set dynamic off etc. Or on or try in MID or Green but really tyres and pressures matter most and that does not mean 18 or 17, wider tread is quicker and less wheelspin. Front wheel drive and some say the old one was too heavy at the front. I think and know they really have not timed them. I use DRAGY.

Matt Watson,s vids with EV,s cut out in the centre medium were just plain stupidity on their part IMO. As to the AC and cooling. For me where it is essential is rainy mist conditions and windows steaming up. Then the difference of just a driver or driver and passenger cab make a noticeable difference. Really an extra 100 or more weight in a MINI small battery car makes a difference for the worse. As far as the 218 ps car with more weight and crap traction on OEM tyres, it is not more efficient it really is pointless having more power for UK roads. IMO.

@lol-lol somebody pointed out to me that there are countries in the far east or Asia where the New SE has been given less bhp. I think the MINI E is far better for the lighter weight and 16" tyres the one I had was wearing. But I would not want one over the version I have. These guys check surely see the likes of 100 miles done and half the battery and no way will they get that with the next half the battery. 1% and 1 mile or 1.1 mile is simple. But then if getting 1.4 miles for 1% it is not actually a complicated thing to figure out.

Green Plus mode restricts power so acceleration, throttle response, but not the TOP Speed, (Like in very cold weather.) you can go at 70 mph, you can go at 94 mph on CC or not, but acceleration is restricted because power is. He could have tried it and floored the accelerator. Or you just move to GREEN, MID or Sport, boot it and then back to GREEN + if someone is up your jacksy. 116 miles CrossClimates on an AC is pretty damn good. AC off sooner (windows open or sunroof) and into Sport Mode and more coasting with Regen on Low it would have gone further. . Ye olde. He gets 170 miles... Bottom vid. I get 110 miles when it shows a am doing 3.5 miles a kWh If it showed 4 miles a kWh then that would be 130 miles plus.. His cars @ fault, (There were Software updates since.) it is never averaging 4.9 - 5.2. it works it out on the 32.6 kWh total capacity. (That is where they get the WLTP Figure) 5 x 32.6 is 163 miles available, or if counting 30 kWh @ 4.9 miles then 147 miles. The estimated range changes if you set the heating say from 16 degrees to 20 degrees, put on the AC to cool, go from Mid to Sport it might not, go from Mid to green it will show an extra 3 miles, go to Green + and maybe an extra 6 miles. I know what is best, and if you need no heating / cooling and can go into Cruise Control & Green + you might get an extra 20 miles range still at 70 mph. Amazing, i did get 145 miles and not empty. on a77 slowly, warm day not roasting. No AC on. Loads of traffic from ferry on way back, some on way south.

Potentially buying a 2.0tsi 4x4 sportline
A DQ381, according to VW Group oil serviced @80,000 miles and no filter till next service. Haldex at 3 years / 30,000 miles and not a proper clean up might just be how that is done. Haldex should have been done. DQ381 7 speed wet clutch DSG may well not have been.

Service Confusion
The Skoda in Europe/EU/UK and for here are leaving the factory set for Variable / Flexible servicing. The Citigo petrols were on Fixed and so were PHEV.s. oil and filter changes. If changed to Fixed that happens at the PDI because someone decides to. Service plan. Fleet, demonstrators or greedy dealerships not asking the new owner. Manufacturers warranty only 2 years in some countries and 3 in the UK.

EA888 evo4 / DNNA vs EA888 / DKZA
VW Used pure magic and software on 1.5 TSI ACT,s to get the WLTP Certification. It worked, they got the scores on the doors. The cars run like sh!te and eventually a Safety Recall was required because of Lack of Torque, which was the Kangerooing issue. But they sold them, supposedly fixed ones, never had to do a buy back. Vorsprung Durch Technik. You can get away with any old crap.

Car Park Fires, Transporters / Ships, any fires, any EV,s involved or not thread, were they the cause just there and so made fighting the fire harder.
@Graham Butcher We are doomed, doomed into damnation. We all die sometime of something so whats the worry about a few ship fires or retired busses. I have no idea of the death toll with these BEV fires compared to deaths in other fires. Stagecoach have busses going on fire quite regularly, probably more regular than their service.

Well they keep on rolling on and off the Bulk Carriers and the occasional fire, and the occasional busses and scrap recycle yards go up. The odd BEV goes up as well and all the time the vehicles get manufactured. The vloggers vlog and the news stories are repeated by them. Where will it all end. When will Israel stop bombing and killing, and when will Russia? How many vehicles were destroyed today in war zones, or in countries not at war? Best people stick to horses, donkeys and camels and stay near home and Stop the Oil.

Service Confusion
@Topbox What have you reset it to, and do you intend getting it serviced (Oil change & filter) a year on from the PDI having been done?

Switching broadband
My man lives up the Shade and was brilliant. Completed the job himself. Nice chap. Pity no land line now and he said contact Sky. I did by mobile to ask about my compensation from BT. He could not understand why I wanted compensation since I was not without my broadband since the go live date back in February. True but they charged me for the new fast broadband while not getting it. Anyway after getting no place I recalled and tried a different menu choice got a nice guy from Nottingham on the line who could give a gesture not compensation. 1/2 the cost from next month for 24 months. That will do. Just need to not move. Pity I am planning on doing just that. PS, after seeing the pavements up in Forfar and done PDQ by contractor for Virgin, there are a crew doing outside where I am just now. Holly s,hit this lot are damn slow. Causing mayhem as far as parking and they have the other side of street to go to next.

I get the 16 miles range warning and then 8 and then 4 miles. So that means I know if already trying to drive as efficient as possible how things are. I could easily if already in Green + go to green, mid or sport and that 16 miles would be 12 just as HVAC is operating. Or maybe speed up and be down to 8 miles in only 2 or 3 miles covered. Much like an ice vehicle then. If reserve comes on at 60 miles, that is 60 miles as driving at that time and before for a bit.

Cr,ap charger infrastructure some places will be an issue. Well reasonable priced infrastructure. So that is 3 charges I have had since away from home. CCS 50 kW charger @45 pence and twice AC 11 kW @47 pence a kWh. The CCS would have been 62 pence. If available. Prices going up in July. To 50 pence AC and 70 pence DC. .. So the Under 50 pence is like a petrol getting 45-50 mpg. Above that is paying too much as far as I am concerned. 75-89 pence a kWh public charging is just crazy as far as I am concerned and just if I really need to and no alternative. But I have all the time in the world. As long as the chargers work. Last night Charge Place Scotland took £2 off me that they say I never paid. Truth their payment company Stripe never charged me. Probably because the charger cut out. £2 was minimum charge. In Ayrshire £5 minimum and no use for PHEV,s small batteries or just wanting a splash and go.

I am never going to push beyond Zero and need a RAC recovery. Not going to drive round and round chargers waiting to run out to see how far an EV can go.

Lane Assist and ACC
Many of the driving aids are great and can be used or not used as needed, location, weather, road types, which country or continent you are on. That is properly developed and engineered ones. Then we have VW Group, the EU / Europe / UK and some of the total sh!te on some models now 2024/25. Really not fit for purpose. There are other manufacturers cars with good or very good systems and some also sh!te, or just that on some models. Now among the EV,s there are the easy select 1 or several items not enabled, or hit one button and enable or disable, and some are a real mystery and you just leave as and adapt. I mean here others cars borrowed cars, ones you are not living with for long, so you adapt as the car requires,

Fabia stuck in Eco mode
@Diermot Looking forward to hearing what you glean from that. Re your upcoming service. Sounds odd. If first registered in 2024 and left on a Vatable Flexible service that is at 24 months, 18,000-20,000 miles. Jan 2026. How many miles has your car done? If they set to Fixed servicing then that was in 372 days, 9,400 miles or sooner. Was the car not serviced before you got it in Jan 2025?

Low oil at 5000 miles
Checked when cold lets you know there is enough oil. But it is not how the engines other than a 1.2 44 kW VW engine is checked.
-
Low oil at 5000 miles
Are you dipping the oil when hot. Indicated 90 c ? My Son stays in Penicuik and my grandchildren so knows your trip.

Low oil at 5000 miles
Not from Arnold Clarks was it. ? Are you checking it hot as it should be?

Fabia stuck in Eco mode
@Diermot you can just tap the brake pedal and not actually brake. If a vehicle behind just touch the accelerator pedal slightly. Both put it back into D7. Or moved the shifter to manual if you want then back to D. Or back to S and then to D. That will drop a gear though.
-
Low oil at 5000 miles
Do you have an issue, is it needing oil?. Did you check the oil level when you got the car?
-
Fabia stuck in Eco mode
I guess you are in D7 as well in the S-A (Semi Automatic) DQ200 DSG. & if coasting in D which is drive disengaged, so Coasting. and it coasts as long as no load required, accelerator pressed, or into Drive, so D7. But if the car slowed enough in D / Coasting and you press / touch the accelerator it could be in D6. Best try, look see and then you will know exactly how it is trying to save fuel / emissions, or just how they engineered for the WLTP.
