  1. Tell the Dealer Principal that their employee was lax and for safety the spare should be bolted down. They should have done the job correctly and pointed out if you needed to pay more for another part that never came with the kit. No idea where you get the Code for your locking nut other than the Dealership trying their set on until you get the correct one, or take a picture of the nut and you get charts showing which is which when you want to order a replacement, or extra one.
  2. The MP gets enough money & their travel expenses paid they don't need a donation from you. If you decided to live and buy your car in the UK and then never joined the case action you can hardly expect to cash in on VW Groups cheating. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486766-anyone-making-a-new-claim-for-the-vw-emissions-dieselgate/page/2
  3. Leave it set on 'Lo', then if you need a setting to a higher temp wind it forward to your chosen number.
  4. The more the manufacturers of EV,s in the UK want there to be battery manufacturers in the UK the less likely there are to be any new ones any time soon. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-66012303
  5. Welcome. I flagged your post for a mod to move it to the Fabia section.
  6. With a TDI that has been doing 30,000 miles a year if it only had the oil changed every 8 months or so at 18,000 -20,000 miles that would not be unusual and not a concern to me. With a TDI that has averaged 47,000 miles a year i would not expect it to have been getting oil and filter changes 3 or 4 times a year. Unless maybe used as a taxi in a city rather than a motorway mile muncher.
  7. Many have been sanding them and repainting these for over a decade now. Many were looking like that within the first couple of years. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/369788-rusty-wiper-arms
  8. @aidy55 Just checking. This is FWD 2.0 TDI manual hatch you have and not an AWD one?

Pre heating car or battery is surely not necessary anyplace in the UK in the past weeks. Cold weather yes. As to Cruise Control try the same journey without it on because you might find that there is not as much 'Coasting' or regening as your foot on the accelerator and energy into the battery in comparison to that going out when cruise has the control of the accelerator. Just as with an ICE vehicle where power on and power off and coasting with an auto if available or just off the accelerator is more economic.
  10. There is an Energy Emergency for many places & people. Also a drinking water shortage type emergency so much more energy to desalinate sea water is required.
  11. In the Scotland part of the UK the loss of energy turning Electricity into Hydrogen is nothing compared to not having any use or storage for the Electricity that can be generated but is not because the Wind Farms and Turbine owners are being paid not to generate electricity because the National Grid does not want it or is not connected to the location where tye electricity is being generated. 5 Cities in Scotland have Local Authority vehicles, bin lorries, vans and other light commercials and busses and taxis that can be in the mix running on Hydrogen as well as ones on electric. Then there are HGV,s & plant running around docks, forests and routes that suit being hydrogen powered and being fuelled at the places hydrogen is being produced. But that is already starting to happen with schemes that are introduced or in the planning and running as trials. http://energylivenews.com/2022/04/05/sse-unveils-plans-for-a-green-hydrogen-at-scottish-wind-farm http://cne-siar.gov.uk/news/2023/may-green-hydrogen
  12. ^^^ This, & what pressures have you set the tyres at since you got the car?
  13. Probably Toyota have enough Self Charge Models sold / first registered in the UK for the 'Fleet Average Co2 emissions' so do not need to bother with the kidolgy of these Hybrids at the moment. They can concentrate on getting the Fleet Average for the EU where it needs to be.
  14. Good stuff. They appear to not have the equipment or knowledge to actually replace the Cam Belt of a 1.4TSI ACT & if you find someone that says they will for £700 or less i would question their ability to and if they have done one before. The price goes up from this when OE parts used. So when getting the job done anywhere if you are at any time you need to ask them about this. If done at a main dealership there should be a 2 year warranty on parts and labour.
  15. Are you looking at the Coolant Temp which will get to showing around 90-92 *oC, or the Oil Temp which might get to 50*oC after a few miles and then up to the normal operating temp around 90*oC which is where the coolant is trying to keep it at, and then it can increase to over 100*oC and the Coolant System operates to bring it back down again with the use of Coolant, Radiator, Fans. As it has been with Liquid Cooled petrol engines for decades.

@J.R. Tim is a Briskoda member & that is just his presentation style. At least he drove a Yeti and other Skoda as dailies which is more than others that big up the cars and when asked if they actually had one or bought one have to admit they did not. eg. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512923-outsider-being-convinced-at-last
  17. When they sell cars with Full Main Dealer Servicing that might be FMDS of stuff we know needs serviced only. Mk3. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/494489-differential-service-vrs-245 Mk4. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509911-vrs-owners-cars-with-a-vaq-front-diff-a-question-on-the-servicing-and-what-you-are-being-told-at-main-dealershihs

  19. Dealership Sales Executives driving BEV Demonstrators home to a charger or no charger and back to work and plugging them in at work has been the issue for years now. Maybe not Tesla Sales People. but other manufacturers sales staff that do not have the cars for personal / family use / trips. Clueless to charging / charging networks and public charging, and even to the cars equipment and features. This applies to Service Staff as well in many instances. They do not know the products, just as has been the case with ICE vehicles for long enough, they do usually know the difference with a diesel or a petrol but as far as manuals vs auto,s / semi-auto,s not so much.
  20. Best get that price from a Main Dealer as long as their Service Desk person understands exactly what your car / engine is. Have you had the VAQ diff serviced? That is / was due at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. ............................................................... Examples of how prices can vary. Main Dealers might well be participating dealers on Fixed Prices for cars 3 - 10 year old, or maybe not anymore as prices / quotes are all over the place now.
  21. Sorry if the pictures i posted which have come from this section in the OP,s first post in the Performance section which i linked are not exactly the right ons. I thought near enough to the engine compartment / parts.
  22. Someone is getting cheated. You, & the HMRC so all of us. Charging the same for 3 Spark Plugs as 4 means that they still have 1 plug more from your service a car with 4 cylinders for A.N. Other's car. You or anyone paying the same price including VAT for 3 plugs and 1/4 less labour as the person getting 4 spark plugs. That is a con. The pads are not 70% worn though, they likely are not 30% worn and the Service Desk staff have know idea what 100% is, and likely the Tech that filled the Service & Inspection sheet does not know how many mm they are.
  23. I was charging today and got talking to a couple with a Vauxhall Mokka Electric they got in March. They were / are so disappointed with the car and wish they had not made the error of getting it. I asked the lady what the issue was and it was lack of performance and range and chargers because they like going north on trips, around the North & North East of Scotland. I asked how she drives and she says in ECO all the time and i asked why. Well the Salesperson set it in ECO for her and she has never changed it and other settings were set by her son and she just drives. So i showed her that her car starts in D, Drive and unless she pressed the Switch to change to ECO she has never been in Eco. She has never used Sport, knows nothing about it, nothing about regen or going into B. Yet in her previous car she had 'Coasting' function and knew how to nip on and 'Coast' or drop a gear or 2 and slow down. I showed how the screens worked and quick steps like touch the touch screen with 3 fingers to bring up the different functions. This was while we were both on 7 kW chargers and she said they have a charger at home and how many hours they spend charging on trips. They were told not to use Rapid chargers, never been on a CCS, never pulled the cover off so that they knew what the CCS looked like. There must be many many being sent out with BEV,s and PHEV,s from dealerships with no knowledge of the vehicles they just got.
