  1. They are good and i have recommended them on Difflock forum for many years. Not necessary to travel that far though if @adamarchiedoes need a rebuild. There are good transmission engineers around Scotland and one of the best is just 1 mile away from me. Still not in the Inverness area, but then plenty Motorsport / Rally, Comp Safari etc engineers and Mechanics around the Moray Firth area.
  2. Location location location. When snow is on top of ice like that it is a case of getting it brushed away and not blocking the scuttle / air intake before melting ice / H2o then adds to it and freezes in place. But then we all know that from where and when we are de-frosting or clearing vehicles. Plus 9*oC is much nicer than -9 was at the weekend. This morning it was damn dangerous as the temp came above freezing and the rain came on and the ice was still thick on the ground. Then there are the muppet roadshow people with days of frozen snow on the roof that drive off with a layer of melted ice inbetween and they deposit on you or on their windscreen as the apply their brakes. The wipers and air intake on an EV like mine are pretty damn crap and need a small hard brush to clear snow or ice to get air into the car. Rear wipers and filler flap as there are are just hopeless. The windscreen clear easy and the side windows, but even driving tor sitting when it is snowing in traffic the air intakes can block up, No heat under the bonnet so that can mean having to get the frozen stuff off the bonnet and try not scratching it.
  3. @zetzet which country are you in? Is it frost your glass is covered in rather than frozen ice then snow that is has fallen then been freezing and thawing. As long as the screen heats enough or warmth from the car interior it heats and it just slides off that is a win.
  4. Other with more knowledge than me will be along. All the best with it. I hope you were not running suspect oil, or oil at a low level. 5w 40 FS to VW502 00 is fine for Fixed Service Intervals. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/440213-engine-oil http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/352058-skoda-fabia-vrs-oildsg-problems-part-3
  5. Did you open the bonnet and dip the oil when hot when the Low Oil Pressure / Red oil can light came on or the message came up? Was there plenty oil as in at the top of the cross hatch? Remember once the bonnet is open the Low Oil or Low oil Pressure Yellow can or Red Can lights go out, even when no oil is added. For as much as 100 km.
  6. The Low Oil Pressure Light can happen even before the Low Oil Light comes on if the oil is low. So i am assuming the oil was not low. I had an Oil pressure light once with a Twin Charger after doing an oil and filter change and putting in Mobile 1 i got from someone. Correct level oil, i had put in 3.9 litres not 3.6 and got it hot. 'They had given me hooky oil'. I dropped the oil a few miles later put in what i knew was good and all was well there. ? THERE WAS NOT A RUBBER SEAL LEFT ON WHEN THE OIL FILTER WAS CHANGED WAS THERE, OR THE OIL FILTER PUT ON VERY TIGHT? So ? Was the car actually 'Towed' as on 4 wheels in Neutral, or the front wheels on a dolly, or the car on a low loader. They should not be Towed. Above 3,500 rpm you are on Turbo only and not Turbo & Supercharger. So ? Has the car had a new Water Pump / Supercharger Magnetic Clutch? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/415178-fabia-mk2-vrs-twincharger-water-pump-part-numbers-supercharger-clutch This was CTHE's not CAVE. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/438447-2012-2014-cthe-mk2-fabia-vrs-timing-chain-issues http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/457262-2013-fabia-mk-ii-vrs-rattle-to-left-of-engine
  7. Try opening the bonnet and closing again. Try the button on the door pillar and turn off the alarm as you would if an animal / person is locked in the car or the car is on a transporter / ferry. Someone will be along that can help hopefully. Wiring / shorting issue. The Alarm Battery might be on its last legs or corrosion. They are shown as a 5 year Service replacement item, that is the complete siren. Many last 10 years or more, yours has maybe lasted as long as it will, what a shame it still sounds though.
  8. People tried the bag of water on their windscreen this week when it was shown on the telly one morning and discussed on the radio. There were mixed opinions. The warm water is fine, until it is gathering in doors of a Skoda and not draining if say the passenger door is not opened. Locks freeze, water freezes in doors, day after day when temps stay below freezing. You can get a lot of ice inside a door when day after day you pour warm water on the windows to deice them when the h20 does not drain out. The air intakes freeze with water as it gathers maybe day after day. Snow not cleared and then water on the screen and ice formed and then you see the inside screen fogging up. That is obviously a location location location thing and where temps might stay below freezing day and night as can even happen in parts of Scotland like in 2009/ 2010 and 2012. Snow came late October and stayed to Hogmany 2009. 7 weeks that winter of Cold Weather payments triggered and a few weeks missed by 1 day. A little prep goes a long way. Door / Hatch rubbers, fuel filler flap prep, hinges, bonnet latch, cables, locks and other bits and pieces for an island nation like the UK where there can be all sorts of weather and micro climates between the south and north, east and west and islands. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488545-winter-driving-observations The same thing crops up winter after winter. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/490125-drivers-door-lock-issue-in-freezing-temeratures Today there are areas where the temp is supposed to change by 22 degrees C as the warm front comes in. That happened in the Spring 2011 when there was a heat wave and over night after 2 weeks the temperature dropped, the snow fell and roads were blocked. 2013 http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-21934213
  9. I am not against them. Where do you read that in my posts? The older ones worked so so. It is just after decades they have not improved. As to what was said about staring and using recycle air and not outside intake, that is a location location location thing. Very cold dry air acts totally different from when there is damp cold air, hoar frost etc. Also as many in a Skoda find, ice inside the car not just outside. Then there are different engines and heat to the heater, diesels, TSI and ones that let heat through quicker. No point generalising on which cars do what and where. Sometimes cracking the door windows open is required for when the ice clears outside and the front screen starts running wet inside.
  10. Guest_ replied to pinkpanther's topic in Škoda Citigo
what a shame that VW discontinued petrol Up!MiiCitigo's. & Citigo iV,s. Then partner with MG and others to get the required Fleet Average C02 g/km figures to stop from having to be fined. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/453741-700-mile-tank-range-citigo http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/414309-600miles-tank-range-possible-in-citigo http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/364603-500mile-tank-range-possible-in-citigo
  11. That seems very acceptable as you just need to buy oil and top up. If you want to use less oil it is going to require you to spend money on the engine or someone doing the work required.
  12. ^^^No. never. Let others use aggressive scouring powders on glass. EDIT. Sorry, It does say Scratch Free now. BUT Maybe what you have under the sink or in the shed / garage is not scratch free. I see there is Ajax spray now.
  13. The stuff used by the cleaners / valeters before car delivery can make a mess after the cars is used for a while and the AC and the new plastic fumes / chemicals getting on the screen. Soft Clean Cloths or kitchen towels, J-clothes etc, scrunched up newspaper after cleaning with white vinegar or products then lint free cloths. Diluted washing up liquid works, or shaving cream / foam and lots of other stuff that has been used for decades. (some swear by using toothpaste, see youtube.) Methylated spirit or alcohol used with care and where no naked light. Elbow grease.
  14. Round here they can be EV vans that cost more than a Kodiaq sitting unlocked, but if they can be driven away if the key is inside is for the toe rags to try. This Infiniti Q30 was probably not worth recovering. Other than it is required for earning their living. http://thisiswiltshire.co.uk/news/23187652.delivery-driver-stolen-middle-delivery http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-63958206
  15. I have never seen it done or knew that it could be and i had to stop as i thought WTF and i had the guy just in front that had flashed me on. His opened all the way. EDIT. Bottom vid. If i had hit the door i was wide enough out it is a big door. It really will be dangerous for a cyclist, even a motorcyclist, & the old coot that opened the door on me was not even near the front of the car or stepping off the pavement. (In the Forfar area there really are some old drivers that no way should be allowed on the roads. Some rather nice cars driven by retired farmers and others that will never have been in an accident, but cause plenty.) As here.
  16. You can indeed do that. He can very likely get you that and it is refreshing he is telling you you can do that. He really must be keen to get a sale. Probably hoping you will not settle it quick enough. Plenty threads about on doing that. Google. briskoda pcp settle http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504672-finance-2nd-year-warranty-want-to-buy-in-cash
  17. @Expatman That is what others are saying, the older ones were quicker / more efficient.
  18. @JorgeminatorYou lose that bet. Send your donation to any charity to help the rough sleepers out in the cold. I used to stay and work outside of Braemar where it is colder than the weather station in Braemar which is right in town, & have had 50 winters of de-icing / defrosting cars & vans and all sorts, doing recoveries with 4x4's in winter and offroad and going to & working at ski centres and periods of freezing weather lasting days and weeks. All cars needed defrosting with the engine started, and they used to be less iced inside than in recent years. Now that i feel the cold in my joints and old broken bones i can just sit where i am inside and on my phone start the heating in my electric car and the ice will fall away in a couple of minutes, and my 4x4 is ready to go with the green house heater keeping it dry inside and the ice off the glass when the weather is constantly below freezing. Or i can just switch on the extension and start the fan if it has not been on all night. (There is a thaw away to start today.) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489573-winter-roads-ice-snow-and-wet-or-dry-driving-in-an-ev/page/4
  19. @Carlstoncan maybe tell you about the ET, tyres etc. So which RS6 wheels are they, as in what year and size?
  20. Hopefully like the ones stolen this week the thieves take the ones that are running with keys presents rather than smash glass and set off the alarm and drive off without a key present. Maybe they can just drive off with the courier vehicles sitting with their engines running while the drivers are delivering. Plenty of those about.
  21. Probably why not sold by them as a Skoda Approved Used Car if not a Full Service History at the time they got it.
  22. Just wondering if it was Henrys or Parks. Sadly you certainly can not be sure of the quality of servicing. ? So is it a Skoda Approved Used car and with a 12 month Warranty or even 24 months? Haldex Service @ 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner, to be Serviced to the manufacturers guidelines, recommendation, schedule or specification, and Lookers know that and know if no record or having been done as do any other Official Skoda Dealerships / Approved Repairers.
  23. Many do the same, but then the tyres on a fabia mk3 with 16" rims are not like 'Rubber Bands'. 205/40 R 17's on a Mk2 Fabia vRS are.
  24. @polzky Unrelated to your noise, just the full servicing, has the Haldex been serviced yet. & properly, not just the oil changed?
