  1. I am at Stirling Castle View Park and Ride. There are 58 fast chargers with 11 cars charging. There are only 4 DC Rapid 50 kW chargers. Only 1 is working the other 3 are out of service. Thankfully the Mustang Mach-e is plugged into the AC on it and has been for 93 minutes. Silly place to plug it into IMO if parking up the car for hours. Luckily charging speed is good on this one so ready for heading home with plenty spare if the charger keeps working. If not I have 2 good charging hubs on route between here and home. Weather was lovely and in the teens and got to Stirling and frosty verges and roundabouts and no sign of salting. Low winter sun. Good for the solar panels here.
  2. Yes just 6.6kW on them unless you have the 11kW on board charger. So the difference might be 21 miles added in 65 minutes or 33. I was desperate to get some charging 30 mins ago and plugged into one but luckily the owner on the DC came out a leisure centre and now in10 mins I will have enough charge for tomorrow to get 110 miles to a charger. Tea time I was at a hub with 6 x 50kW chargers but filled with bigger battery EV,s. One Merc had been on 2 hours and was at only 80% and no driver about. I could not get an AC charger to start and I needed some power, but there was a BMW iX3 sitting and it had only 83% charge after 90 minutes. I asked the driver if he would be long and he was already feed up and said he was happy to let me get a charge. I never stayed long and let someone else get on and got to where I am now. It is getting crazy really with so many EV,s wanting on rapid chargers and not enough about. Then what there are having so many faulty.
  3. The 12 year old or the dog is not hanging on the rearmost part of the car. Look at the max gross weight / revenue weight for the estate and for the hatch. Look at what was given in 2010 then again when corrected in 2013. The correction was no just the change of a driver from 60kg to 75 kg. So the standard factory ballast does make a difference on the grip under acceleration in the real world with the front going light and wheel spin on damp roads. That is just daily driving You get more TC flashing lights That extra weight on the crash bar affects handling. It is not the same on an estate car sitting with the standard rear springs or even the Dealer fit option spings. Then if you are putting another 25kg or so hanging off a bike rack it makes more of a difference. Where the extra unnecessary weight is located is what makes the difference. The extra 9 and a bit inches of estate cars weight sitting on the correct springs is not an issue even if you put lots of bags or sand or gravel in the load space.
  4. Luckily right on to a PodPoint and charging at 26 pence a kWh quickly. 50kW charger will work out at 33kWh charging up to 98%. So no messing about to see if the free chargers happen to be working. Checking while I charge Apps show they are not. The next 2 charges today will be on CPS chargers and free. So 450 miles might cost just under £10. EDIT. Done, 60 minutes added 65% to the battery. £7.44. that gives 90 miles. Scorchio now out. Edit PPS. Looked round to Airport. Only 8 22kW chargers working and occupied in the park and ride. None of the new fast or rapid chargers enabled but all powered up. The single old Rapid has no powere.
  5. Setting off on a few hundred miles with a full battery. So going to need to charge at least 3 times. Charge Place Scotland chargers i might use in Fife or those near Edinburgh Airport are reported and showing as Out of Order so i know just to check when passing but not expect a charge. Other CPS Edinburgh Airport ones near are showing OOO. So there is one 6 miles away that i have never found available to use but i will go try, and there is a PodPoint 50kW 1 mile away from that if available. Next option is a BP Pulse a couple of miles from the Airport which does not take Contactless so i have Credit on my account. Happy enough to pay to charge to get a shift on but it is unbelievable just how much a lottery it is to get a Rapid Charge in the Newbridge / Ingliston / Ratho / Airport area if you have not got a Tesla. I might try BP Pulse at Harthill Services West Bound to see if any better than the East Bound Services and if there is a proper charging speed on 100+ kW chargers.
  6. You can not see the DSG price in the link because it is not there and other prices are missing because they may be getting increased. The DSG Oil Filter Change is required at a Oil Service if there is one to be changed. Ask the Service Desk person to check with a Master Technician in their workshop. A Haldex Oil change might not have them touch a filter / screen.
  7. 2022 prices could be up. https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance-fixed-price This is 2021 & Year 3-10 Fixed Price Service & Maintenance at Participating Dealers. So you are looking at £215 or less. That less is maybe at a VW Independent.
  8. It should be part of an Oil & Inspection service that they check it on the diagnostics. & Carry out any software or hardware enhancements. But sadly Service Plan Fixed Service regimes seems to be an excuse for Dealerships to do an Oil & Filter service and maybe a look see. Best get the car booked in and give them notice of faults, failures or issues that need addressing under the warranty. ? Does your Service Plan show a 'Oil Service' and then an 'Oil & Inspection Service'? So only an 'Oil & Inspection Service' at 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months.
  9. Michelin turn out some real crap that manufacturers fit as OEM like the Primacy 4, ECO tyres that give range to EV's / Hybrids but i had off my car within 2 days of getting it and putting CrossClimates on. Then they were changed for Alpin 6's. TIGAR Synergy would have been an improvement for Summer use for traction over the Primacy 4's as i know from having used them in the past. I have also used TIGAR winter tyres which were excellent. Performing better than even Michelin Winter tyres.
  10. What a lovely demonstrator that they will not want many potential customer driving and messing up brfore they maybe sell it to a friend of the Dealership or a family member. So nice to get assistance from HMRC so the general tax payers putting a car on the road as a demonstrator and be able to make a profit. They might be sitting fingers crossed that some pleb does not flash the cash and purchase it but if they do then nothing lost. actually just the more profit.
  11. @Roomster201 Welcome. Have you any particular engine type in mind or is it any and all be those petrol or diesel?
  12. Not being fined in 2021 for not meeting the required emissions for the group was a priority. VW Group signed up partners to assist in that. So now in 2022 they should find it easier and they can get cars out before new legislation comes in during 2022 on new type approved vehicles and they will be stopping production of some current vehicles and drivetrains in Europe.
  13. So many tyre brands & tyres from everywhere and the world is a big place and lots of tyres are needed. https://tyres.rezulteo.co.uk/expert-advice/before-buying/brands-products/leading-tyre-manufacturers-which-brand-belongs-to-which-group
  14. In North America VW Group have engines tuned to suit fuel. What is nice is that in North America or Canada and other world regions like Australia you can have a new 1.4 TSI with an 8 speed torque converter engine.
  15. @gm73 If that is who maintains your taxi maybe best you start using someone else because they are not really saving you money.
  16. The Manufacturers Warranty is there to cover faults in design, manufacturing or materials so on such a low mileage you best find out if there is any of that. They can not cover environment influences like hitting speed bumps hard or potholes. Just read your post in the other thread about a suspension and the pothole and your suspension. Best get a very good inspection carried out, and especially as your car is a taxi. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501196-suspention-knock-2015-vrs
  17. What it sounds like to you is the probable the cause, but then surely the local independent checked before changing the damper! Or maybe not.
  18. There could well be Michelin tyres still waiting to be sold that were manufactured in Dundee before the closure there in 2018. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-46097215 I liked my TIGAR tyres manufactured in the Michelin owned factory in Serbia and bought at ATS Euromaster which is also owned by Michelin as is BlackCircles.
  19. @Mickmartin. @vRSgone posted just why removing the weights suited some. He had a tuning box fitted and could handle a car as I found out when he took me for a spin near Preston.
  20. @Mickmartin why guess. There are times of cars aplenty on here. There are people that put cars on scales, weigh bridges or corner scales. Did you weight your estate before you started modding? You are on the Facebook pages and know the tuners. How it equates is as those that take their cars to the drag strip, sprints or hillclimbs know it does. For a daily driver they might have plenty weight in and as I did carry 2 spare wheels but have no rear weights on. Plenty take stuff out of their estate before tracking them. So when using not on the road it is just simply remove the extra weight in the boot. When setting off places with wheels tyres, fuel, tools etc and me in a Fabia vRS it weighed 1,440 ish kg. That was not the weight I took it up a hill climb or drag strip or went for a fun thrash. Ps maybe @Cosmic_vrsknows by now if he got his car with the weights still on or removed. Plenty have no idea unless they check.
  21. @Mickmartin If you are going to hang a bike or 2 off the back of a hatch and put stuff in the boot then 25kg less on the rear crash bar is certainly a help when it comes to traction so moving off, braking and steering and especially on damp roads or even car parks or grass. Without a rear bike carrier with bikes on removing the weights makes a difference on a standard hatch from the factory on the OEM tyres the come with. If the driver leaves the TC on and and is flooring it as many might do there can be less flashing of traction control light and the cutting of power and nipping of brakes and the banging. But if you have tried hatchbacks with and without the weights on you will know that, also if you have been timing them. 44kg removed from the rear with the weights off and the spare wheel and jack out makes a difference. Lighter wheels will not reduce wheel spin but better tyres help, as do wider tyres on the front if of a suitable tread / compound. As to making them a track demon then just the weights removed might make little difference but then the XDS might disable it's self a little bit later as the brakes overheat slower. There are hatches about and some driven by members that have track cars with a bit of modding, that can start someplace with a bit of weight reduction. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/374661-mk2-fabia-rs-trackday-and-auto-x-project http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/424380-fabia-vrs-mkii-mods-detailing-repairs-nurburgring-etc @sepulchrave Still room for you to post something of assistance on the OP about carrying bikes and contribute rather than the usual coming in eventually with nothing much about the OP. Did you notice that a tow bar can not be fitted without modifications and can not be fitted to tow and the member asked about the weights and were they on a vRS?
  22. @chrisluciofg Pretty relevant, What was the actual speed of the car infront and your car before it came to a stop and how far behind it were you? Were you not paying attention so driving without due care and attention?
  23. My nose is bothering me as well. @Joe41do you have the vRS with the damaged engine and how damaged that it can not be rebuilt? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498697-kodiaq-warning-saying-caution-engine-running
  24. That amount of rust never happened this year so in 2022, or last year, that has been getting worse for a number of years and ignored. Never acted upon. No repair or treatment carried out. As much as i bad mouth Skoda UK and them knocking back Paint or Body Corrosion Warranties (Needs to be a holed panel) because they say the Body Inspections were not carried out. The T&C's of the Warranty says nothing about Annual or Bi-annual Inspections, but at a Service a Body Inspection is shown by Skoda in the Servicing as part of what you get done,
  25. @Yetianimal So was the place you bought the Avon Tyres an Avon Tyre dealer or just someplace that happened to have them in stock in the correct size. Or were they ordered in from someplace to be fitted there?
