Electric itch...
Rory has a good cheap home tariff if only paying 14 pence a kWh when on the daytime so not off peak tariff. This Friday i need to get a shift on after being at Edinburgh Airport. If i can not get on the Single Rapid charger when i arrive early to pick someone up and the new BP Pulse chargers are not working i will stop at Harhill Services and use the 150 kW chargers. Contactless guest is 50 Pence a kWh for 40 kWh will cost me £20. If i get 3 miles a kWh that is going to be 120 miles worth. that will do me until i get on the next charger which is a free one if working. After using that i will hope to get to Stirling or Dunblane to charge again free but that is a lottery. I might have to hypermile to Perth and charge there for free before getting home to Angus where it is Tescos that is free and a couple of hours charging will have it topped up. So for handiness £20 on a super quick charger and other than that a few hours sitting about for me to do maybe 500 miles for much cheapness. Actual travel Distance is never a certainty when you have to start trying to get to working chargers and having to change your route. EDIT. PAYG is 44 pence a kWh on the BP Pulse 100+ kW charger. so 40 x 44 pence £17.60. So doing 480 miles if charging 4 times @ £20 a time so £80 is just not very smart in an EV. That is if getting 3 miles per kWh. 45 mpg so 10.7 gallons @ £74.90 and less stress. When at home i am taking advantage of free charging on a 7kW at Tesco.

MG ZS
I had a beige 1984 Metro 1.3 Auto with brown velour interior. 1 lady owner, never raced or rallied. When i sold it it it was 2 lady registered keepers and never rallied. It was used at autotests though.

If it looked just like this it would appeal to many. https://autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/mg-poised-launch-compact-electric-hatchback

Can I remap my 2017 1.4se Octavia to get better fuel economy
I doubt if you brim the tank and do 3 times 12 mile cold start trips and an extra 2 miles that you will only need 4.546 litres to brim it again. If it does do 38 mpg with that kind of use it is wonderful. But then 1.4tsi,s are wonderful.

Changing the differential??
Usually the lost in translation is the other way. Especially with German / Czech / Spanish to British English. They have All Seasons for Summer Tyres. All weathers are not summer tyres. American English or Canadian being another confusion. Michelin being French but owning BF Goodrich can confuse stuff rather easily. How a tread looks does not help much when you want grip in the damp.

I would like to see an exclusion in a Skoda Manufactures warrant that has anything about using launch control. Maybe the lady can find that. It is easy to read the exclusions on Non factory approved hardware or engine management.

You might remove a tuning box but likely not at a roadside before a vehicle is recovered to a dealership. As it is surely you declare mods to your insurance company to have valid insurance. A warranty is an insurance policy. Any loss adjuster worth their salt working for a Warranty Provider checks for social media posts of the Car Owner / driver and then checks with their insurer. Nobody likes paying out thousands on an engine if the owner had a invalid warranty.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy the new car when you get it. I think you are very brave to use a tuning box or remap a plug in hybrid that you own and void the manufacturers warranty. If you have finance on the vehicle so do not actually own it then that is a very big risk.

MG ZS
It has a new face. More importantly the charger port has been improved.

Heat pump
Lightly loaded cars as usual rather than a Large Family car with a person in each seat having to be warmed or cooled and the cars not misting / steaming up. That is a fair enough test for a driver or driver and a passenger tramping up and down roads with empty boots and rear seats.

Electric vehicles and charging
Big family sized EV's again with just a driver or 1 passenger in. Adding an additional 300-400 kg or even more will make a difference. As will a drop of another 4 degrees ambient temp. Maybe that will get shown eventually rather than the Rep / travelling salesperson type driving that so many comparisons show.

Views on DSG boxes please.
6 speed wet clutch DSG's as fitted to 2.0 TSI or TDI have not any common issues if serviced correctly with 40,000 mile or sooner oil change intervals. 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG as fitted to 1.2,1.4,1.8 TSI's or 1.6 TDI's on mk2 2's can be less reliable and could have been part of Service Campaigns started in 2014 on different Skoda / VW vehicles including Mk2 Octavias covering 2009-2012 cars or in 2017 on 2013-2015 cars.

Clutch Failure 2 year old Fabia 1.0 with 9k miles
^^^ Great. If it is just worn out then fair enough, fair wear and tear. But see the links. So do not let them dispose of the parts.

Clutch Failure 2 year old Fabia 1.0 with 9k miles
Clutches can fail and a lot sooner than 2 years and 9,000 miles. The parts will need looked at to see if there is anything that has caused this very premature failure. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/493951-help-69-plate-10-tsi-se-manual-clutch-gone-after-2721-miles http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/446646-clutch-failure

Rounded wheel bolt!!!!
Surely as common in Sheffield as other parts of the UK when it is from desirable motors. Plenty vehicles get their wheels nicked still in this day and age.

Can I remap my 2017 1.4se Octavia to get better fuel economy
@MONKEYSPRAM Welcome. Sorry not an answer to your question, but 38 mpg around town seems a pretty good economy from a 1.4TSI. You could easily get a remap but i can not imagine it will improve the economy around town . Does it really go 38 miles from each 4.56 litre of petrol? ? Is that around Newcastle and how long are the trips you do?

vRS Octavia iV - Range, Motorway Driving
Re Off Peak low Tariff charging in the UK. If you are mot already with Octopus or some others with EV Tariffs for charging then you best check if you can now get on a plan with them as there are Schemes only open to their current customers. You might have to charge at your usual Electric Tariff until the cost of energy drops which could be long enough. If you are 20 pence a kWh then that £2.16 @ 5 pence a kWh becomes £8.64 (Using a gallon of petrol will take you 45 miles for less cost.)

£50 of super unleaded at current prices would be less than 33 litres. which is only 7 and a bit gallon.

Rounded wheel bolt!!!!
Those who go out stealing wheels and tyres have all the gear and more than just ideas. They will have them off a vehicle a lot quicker than any Dealership or Tyre Centre Fitter and could not care a damn about damage to the vehicle. They will maybe have a catalytic converter off a vehicle before the wheels. It is how they earn their daily crust. Security fasteners will not have them thinking too much bother lets move on.

Keys insurance
I received an Email from RAC and i expected it was about a renewal. But no it was saying I had duplicate policies which is correct. So I have RAC insurance on a car with AN Other on the policy and that has RAC breakdown included in the Policy. Then on my Van the RAC would not cover it for insurance but I have RAC breakdown cover for that. Kept it on after getting breakdown cover when buying it. I was prepared to cancel that as the TSB Bank account gives me Breakdown cover as a driver or passenger. So worth the call this morning to the RAC. I was going to cancel Auto renew when the van was due. Instead I got them to quote on me personally being covered on any vehicle with full recovery etc. They are due me a £1.75 refund. So more than enough cover for me for the £65 I paid last year and what ever that goes to this year on renewal.

Petrol or diesel??
I see you are in North Lanarkshire. How many miles a day do you go, or a week or year. Is the reason a petrol is a concern because of the risk of a bad one. Same thing can happen if you end up with a bad TDI / Dpf. Get what suits your usage.
