  1. @TiltNothing to do with getting them in the car for me, just drop the seat into the seat tube for that or take the post and seat off the bike. I ride with an artificial leg above knee and ride with a seat high. That was for decades getting on at kerb, standing on a stone or fallen tree etc. Not riding in town etc if it meant stopping at lights, starting off on hills. I used to start climbing hills and had to keep riding because if i stopped i had to start going downhill then turn and keep going up, or get off and push until a flat bit or a down slope. Dropper seat posts mean getting my leg over the seat, sitting with feet on the ground and placing my foot on the pedal and pushing off and then raising the seat. Dropping the seat to stop or to adjust my riding position and keep the artificial foot on the pedal. If i am going someplace where i am going to ride a hire bike i have 2 sizes of Dropper Posts with me incase there is no bike with a dropper post. Changed my life over the past 6 years, as has E-Bikes.
  2. Earlier i did a 12 mile ride having started with 23 mile range in Turbo and stayed in Turbo and got home with 17 mile range showing. No headwind, scorchio and as much downhill as up and i was feeling good after doing the ride yesterday on a pushbike. It shows eMTB but then just goes to Sport. I ride in Turbo mostly unless trying to get range to get home. 20*oC plus and 35-40 mile range. 10*oC sort of temp and 25-28 miles.
  3. A dropper seat post is the greatest thing ever in my opinion. Worth every penny of about £100 for one that does not need feeding through the frame. I am riding my bike with a Bosch Performance motor just now. It does not have e-MTB enabled. When i am pedalling and getting to around around 17-18 mph i change gear and go back to 15.5 mph because i prefer to spin and save my knee. I have my Brose Motor on my Specialised Chipped for 'Offroad' Use. Actually i end up riding much the same speed which is as was standard and when the 'Wheel Circumference' is not changed on the Mission Control. I got the bits to chip my Yamaha motor Fatbike but have never bothered to get it fitted.
  4. @JohnnyJohnBoy worth starting a new thread on that in the Mk2 Fabia section.

  6. After Teatime & Tour de France coverage for the day, i might go for a ride in the local slate quarry and try to not die on the easy paths. Often i bottle it and end up walking my way out of scary spots. I am in awe.
  7. @KenONeill Actually if you know anything about Scottish Rights of way and vehicular rights of way and pedestrians you will know that pedestrians are human powered. And it is cycling and walking and even human powered scooters or wheelchairs. That is in Scottish Law / statute. By-laws might mean no cycling on pavements where there is street lighting. Just because someone blocks a vehicular right of way and makes it just a right of way or even blocks that, then putting up signs means nothing. So that is not just a path or passage for people on foot or in wheel chairs. People that are going to accept others interpretations of law should get to know the law for that country. This includes police officers and even council officials. They should get to know the local authorities Right of way officer. I have been a member of The Rough stuff fellowship and the Mountain Bothy Association for 45 years now. Important to know your rights in Scotland. PS I have on my new tribute to you helmet today. Ok just need an extra L to put on it. I have a set of letters someplace. PPS. All-around Angus are shared walking and cycling routes and pavements or pathways. Also paths for all which includes access for horse riders. Millions came from the Commonwealth games shooting being held at Barry Buddon. There are loads of new projects in the planning and opening already. http://gobike.org/cycling-info/cycling-faqs
  8. Maybe those buying an Enyaq in Scotland using a 6 year interest free loan of £28,000 might keep them longer than the majority that will be leasing them and handing them back in 3 years.
  9. Two weeks back i was riding along singing a song and as happy as Larry, then i was laying in a new dug stony and concreted drainage channel thinking how am i getting out of this after i had dropped into having caught my pedal on a weighing down block & then my bar end mirror (that broke) on the security fence that was there to corral you along the temp path that was replacing the right of way they are building houses on. (ride it and know where the path is and come back a few hours later and it is moved by workers or even closed right in to let vehicles through and then not widened again.) So i was on the ground with the bike on top of me, head down & a shoe had come off and i had only scrapped my elbow and my wrist was a bit sore but still i could not really get up as trapped against the fence, so lay a bit, then got the bike off & sat a while, took helmet off and gradually sorted my self out. Some old nutter walked past and just ignored me as i said, i fell off my bike! Long story short is for about 4 years my left shoulder has been pretty bad since falling sideways one time when i forgot to drop my seat as i came to a stop, now that pain has gone. Sorted by the wonders of having another accident and hitting the same body part. Scene of said accident 4 years ago, now 4 years on the houses are built and phase 2 under way and the 'Developer' still gets away with making life difficult on a right of way.
  10. The 1.4TSI / tfsi was a beaut, with or without ACT/COD but then the emissions meant it must die unless it was to be used with a hybrid, there was to be no more 'implausible' test results. So now the 1.5TSI's are running engine management that means that the WLTP or RDE2 results can be replicated if ever they are tested at a country like the UK on importation. Australia / USA and other get 1.4 TSI's still and an 8 speed torque converter auto, because that is 'simply clever' or Vorsprung Durch Technik.
  11. I did quite well today then by not falling off. I was riding a pushbike and not an e-bike which i usually do this route in an average 13 mph. Today was no traffic and on and off pavements and no stopping at junctions, not much climbing or a headwind.
  12. https://onlyrevo.com/blog/1-4-tsi-twincharger-known-engine-issues-to-be-aware-of The Elephant in the room that VW Group just ignored with the 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136kW Twinchargers 2009-2014/15 is Borewash. VW Group never admit to it, or that Long Life oils and Super unleaded petrols can be an issue, just how much detergents does an engine require? Funny how the Superunleaded even over 100 octane is not really an issue if you do not use the Oil VW Group Recommend. Also funny how remaps were better than the Mapping / Engine Management that was & is OEM with the Twinchargers. Not REVO's though, they got theirs wrong. They were as bad as VW at owning up to that. Over 25% of the CAVE engines had failures and like for like replacements failed as well. VW Group changed mapping, breathers, oil spray jets and discontinued the engines after 3 years and still had issues and again played about with mapping. All through this it cost many owners lots of money when they had no warranty cover and even those that VW Group sold extended warranties to then they claimed 'Known issues'. There were known issues and the Management / Seniors / Engineers know who was to blame, it was them. A CEO who was an Engineers Engineer. As in Deaf Dumb & Blind to being the person signing the engines off. Like with the Defeat Devices as well.
  13. ATS Euromaster say 'most cars registered before Jan 2017 on the gas that the recharge for £60 and then £130 on the later stuff. 500 yards down the road from me McConnecheys is now a Halfords Auto Centre and no Mobile Service comes up with them, 50 yards further on are ATS and Tyre City sitting facing each other. All are busy at all times and there are 3 other places that are tyre fitting centres. Small rural town with lots of agricultural and commercial customers.
  14. @Ecclesis that a cash in hand job? It is quite amazing how some places can cover the cost of their labour, materials, overheads and pass on 20% VAT to HMRC.
  15. Often it should start at the start. So people picking up new, used borrowed or hired cars need to check there is enough oil and coolant & has whoever handed the car over had it checked, like at a PDI. Then you know where you are starting from. After a Service or your car being in a garage is a good time to check the oil level, before you drive away. That would be knowing where the oil and coolant is when the car / engine is cold, ie before going anyplace. If that is done and the tyre pressures are checked and the TPMS is reset that is a 'simply clever' and pretty much common sense. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/461786-oil-consumption http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/484270-oil-consumption-10-tsi
  16. Many if most do not need topping up yet many come to Briskoda saying they need topping up because they never checked and then got a low oil warning light. Some of those you will find on Briskoda more recently are ones that got a 1.5 TSI's that has a bit of a thirst. But then supposedly only people with issues post on forums. Others go to Dealerships and are told pay no attention to forums. If you get a low oil light / message or even a low oil pressure one and you open the bonnet and do nothing the light goes out, the oil level will still be low and the light / message might stay off for 60 miles. If you pull into a filling station you might have to buy 5w 30 FS III at whatever price, or they might have 0w 20 FS IV again at what ever price, or they might not.
  17. ? Does it really hold the oil in the filter when screwed onto the engine or just when the filter is unscrewed to remove it? Does that mean that if you dip the oil in the sump cold or at operating temperature there is 0.5 litres or so still up top in the filter

  19. If it is brand new there is no way that it should have 5w 30 FS III in it. or 0w 30 FS III as some dealerships are using. Did you collect it with Delivery Mileage? The Manufacturers Recommended Oil is VW 508 00. Enough Dealership Staff tell people that is what must be used even if not true.
  20. Not 'warm', that is what Skoda put in owners manuals while VW, SEAT, Audi said 'Hot' or 'at normal operating temperature'. Hot / Operating temp is the correct if Skoda was to not get lost in Translation. Buy the VW 508 00 / 509 00 wherever it is the cheapest. 0w 20 FS IV. That might be from a Skoda Group Dealer on Ebay like Parks of Hamilton. Or anyone else. Briskoda Sponsor http://opieoils.co.uk Odd how some Maindealers do not know what the correct oil is yet they know how to charge lots for it compared to 5w 30 FS III
  21. OT, last night a Blacked out car drove past when i was at a junction and i nipped on to see what it was as it looked mean and i thought it was new Ford Puma. Got behind it at the lights and even the KIA badge was blacked out and it was a Sportage. Mean looking thing.
  22. Welcome to the forum. Others will maybe be able to answer. ? When does your car need replaced? Best check just how long a Factory Order might take to get to a dealers as there are issues being blamed on the 'Chip shortage' and maybe other things, but cars built and ready for delivery can be a safer bet than the 'maybe / sometime' build & delivery ones.
  23. @xandruDoes your car not have clean OEM air filter fitted now. Is it some Performance one that strangles the engine?
  24. @Andyb100 Welcome to the forum. Did you purchase a new or used car, and was it from a Skoda Dealership? VW 508 00 / 509 00 has been getting used at the factory for months and months before the WLTP / RDE came about to help VW Group get the test results they required. So that was before Sept 2018. The Dealer might not know because they maybe know nothing about cars, but the Technicians should know that it left the factory with VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV. Too early in its life / until the First Service to start putting in VW504 00 / 507 00 so 5w 30 FS III The Parts People should know and even a sales person in the showroom should, after all they are driving new cars for the first 3,000 miles / 3 months before they are flogged. 'Only ever driven by a sales manager' type lies with a demonstrator. Every owners manual says about May use 0.5 litres / 1,000 km. & may use more in the first 5,000 km. Has said this for years. Are you checking the oil level correctly which is at Operating Temp. That is not Warm & not cold. Obviously check when cold and see where it is on the dipstick, but check again with the oil near 90*oC indicated after a few minutes stopped on the flat, and the oil should be in area A.
  25. When 1.0TSI's got a GPF at around 2018 i think the MPI's did not. They might still not have a GPF now in 2021, but i do not know & others might well.
