Is someone using "counteract tire balancing beads" pearls in their tires? Experiences?
I have used Ceramic Balance beads on 4x4's that go offroad and some that might be taken offroad and lose the weights on the wheels. I have them in my 4x4 van with SUV Cross Climates fitted.

New Sorento
What Car seems to have presenter / motoring journalists with short memories or many just can not make up their minds after the first video, then filming and making the video below that. They really need to look again at the various cars boot space when the cars have all 7 seats available or even just 6 seats.

New Sorento
No idea if the New KIa Sorento is being built in Slovaki or the Czech plant but Hyundai are likely the best manufacturer is Czechia and might use as many European manufactured parts and materials as Skoda do. Hyundai Motor Europe is headquartered in Russelsheim Germany and has a R&D centre in Frankfurt which is maybe why demistiing / heating and other stuff can suit European conditions which sadly the VW Group somehow get badly wrong on various vehicles from a German Owned manufacturer. PS 7 seats is not much use if you then need a trailer to be able to get the luggage for them with you.

damper creaking, 66 plate / 9K miles
@911hillclimber The VW Up!, Skoda Citigo & SEAT Mii were built in the same VW Factory in Bratislava so unless any cheaper hardware went on the Citigo the quality is what VW Group manufactured.

Car check up?
Dealerships are well recompensed for Servicing but Motability do them on Variable interval servicing now, but if under 18,000 (20,000) when at end of lease it will get serviced at the time of the MOT. Motabiliy cars are MOT'd usually at around 1 month before hand back and last year mine was done in mid September for a mid November hand back and had a Service as well. The hand back pictures were used by BCA to sell the car and Arnold Clark bought it, it went to them direct from the dealership i handed it back to without going to the auction, and it is still sitting advertised for sale but it was given another MOT in May. No advisories on the May MOT like on the September one.

@MickA I hope you have had the chance to use the A93, or the B974 Fettercairn / Cairn o' Mount, and the A939 Lecht / Tomintoul routes, and by Grantown-on-Spey to the Moray Firth.

Full-time 4x4 in S mode?
Really the fuel consumption difference is neither here nor there between FWD and AWD other than Official figures from very dodgy tests. If the cars are at the same weight they pretty much do the same economy, and if you put more people and stuff in the FWD vehicle and do the same speed as the AWD with just a driver in you might use more fuel.

My NC500
I have all the charging points checked out for doing free EV charging and fully intend getting my 20,000 miles a year's allowance from my motability car. Spare batteries for an E-bike as well to revisit places that i have not spent much time at. Sooner i get starting off the better.

My NC500
@Mickmartin I have been fortunate enough to have done most of the coastal roads and cross country and glens by moped, motorbike, pushbike, campers, vans and cars over the years. You mentioned Lochgilphead, my uncles was the head postmaster for that area and i have a cousin that is still in the area but i have not been there for quite a few years.

Car check up?
No debate on a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG, there is no service schedule or guidelines for maintenance. (if someone wanted to change either or both of the oils then that is up to them, but why would you at 3 years / 58,000 miles?) @broona What servicing has it had like the Air Filter checked or replaced at the last service, and have the spark plugs been replaced. The Brake Fluid can get checked for H20 content, or just get replaced. Have you cleaned or replaced the Pollen filter & that area, or was that done at 2 years.

My NC500
When the lockdown is eased to allow more freedom to head off doing more touring and road trips i have my OLPRO Extra Large Pop Up Toilet tent and Porta potti ready to go, literally. Along with my camping gear. Trying to avoid the usual tourist hotspots and get on the best driving roads in Scotland and were there is a lesser chance of the midge. But then many others will have the same idea & maybe even busy out and about this winter where usually you can find quiet places.

2016 Yeti 2.0 Diesel Oil service
@Tomskoda Are you 200 miles over a 9,400 / 372 day Fixed Service interval with VW504 / 507 so Long Life oil in the engine.? That is the spec of oil for a TDI. VW507 and likely 5w 30 FS III. You can go to 18,500 thousand miles or more if you want as the car could be on Variable / Flexible Servicing rather than fixed.

Never seen tyre wear like this before.
Draper Tyre Gauges have been what i have used for years, i always have one in cars i use and they have been accurate when checked against professional and calibrated tyre inflators / compressors. Nice and easy to read when you have a bad back. I will over inflate tyres getting the bead on then put the wheels on the vehicle and let the pressure down with one of these.

Never seen tyre wear like this before.
@Mickhill My thoughts on getting to the bottom of it is to think the normal things that need thinking. ? What pressure were they set at in April, and up to April, and could you have been running with a few psi low and no TPMS warning and the Alignment / Tracking may be out and needs checked. Regular tyre checking should not just be the pressures and outside tyre wall, you have to get down and look or get under or take tyres off and maybe move front to rear etc over time and miles. Top 2 pics from other Briskoda threads, not my tyres. Rears commonly do this, and moving to the front can be dangerous when they do go out of shape, but many Tyre Fitters and Fitting Centres say they can only put the new on the rear and move the rears to the front. (Plenty heated debate threads on that one on this and other forums. COSTCO Tyre fitters..might be mentioned!) Bottom tyres are ones of mine that a muppet kept telling me the TPMS was coming on but never bothered to get down and check the tyres to see why one was going down. That would be the self tapper on the inner edge of the Dunlop Sport Maxx with wear.

@Mickhill To be honest i am surprised that you are surprised that the tyres have to be changed, and doing lots of motorway miles means you might easily go over objects and do what you did. ? So what pressures do you set the tyres at? ATS Euromaster do Free Tracking checks, and then obviously adjusting if needed costs. Tell the call handler at VWF it is safety related, yours and other innocent road and pavement users and what is the point of Tyre Insurance if they penny pinch on tyres and they go on a mis-aligned car. Then if i was doing high miles which i have and the Skoda / Seat Tech at the 1st service @ 20,000 miles said the car needed an alignment check but they do not do it & Motability agree and the Kwik fit fitter said bog off i would go across the road to my friends at ATS Euromaster, get the alignment done, pay and get my own Winter Tyres on, and i sent the Alignment Invoice to Motability to get a refund and have them get onto Kwik fit. So that was what i did. & when i was handing back the car last year, i put the ditchfinder tyres back on. (OEM are Continental ContSeal as the car has no spare wheel.) Tyre wear noted at the MOT. Arnold Clark are selling that car with near 4 year old inner edge worn tyres still on.

Never seen tyre wear like this before.
Welcome. Like you say possibly pot hole damage. When were the tyre pressures last checked and TPMS reset before the warning. I assume the ATS Euromaster Tyre Centre employee was newly started as a tyre & exhaust fitter to have not seen similar previously. ? Have you had the Alignment and tracking checked and adjusted if needed?

KIA Stinger GT
With an average speed like that many would feel cheated if they never got that economy. 190 ps TDI DSG , Min Kerb weight 1,843 but 4 up / adult people, 3 with their kit bags. Using around 75 ps quite likely and still able to go at twice the NSL if the throttle goes to the floor. Filled up, then zeroed. & then bimbling along, singing a song and sticking to the speed limit watching for Road Safety Partnership Camera vans.

The Fabia (1.4 tdi pd1) is dead....long live the Fabia (1.6cr Monte Carlo)
@TheRivieraKid 35 what's? The Audi A1 competition 122ps came on 225,/35r 18's. Which you could fit on a Fabia but which gave not any better handling and certainly no better ride. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/442801-audi-a1-rotors-to-fit-mk1-fabia-vrs Handling quite good here.

1.2 TSI Oil Usage
Dealerships that would use non Long Life oils used to use Quantum 5w 40 FS. The price difference is pennies and not why people might not buy Long Life oil. I use non long life that costs just the same as long life oil. (for the benefit of a TSI that is a keeper.) Long Life Oil can mean shorter lived TSI's. As seen with plenty of Euro 5 1.4 Twinchargers, 1.8 & 2.0 TSI's 5w 30 & 5w 40 have in common the 5 which matters from cold start up. The 40 is what matters when hot. You can buy your Oil from Comma, Asda, Tesco or where ever as long as the Spec is right. Fixed servicing and VW502 and you will be fine. This is Fabia Engines, But the 1.2 TSI oil Spec is the same Euro 5 & even Euro 6 engines.

- 1.2 TSI Oil Usage
@gav_is_con Using VW 504 / 507 Long Life oil was hardly a treat. Just oil to the spec for Variable / Flexible Servicing or if you want Fixed Servicing. Dealerships will usually use 5w 30 FS III, and now for those getting VW508 / 509 0w 20 FS IV. There are more dealers now that have 0w 30 FS III as their oil of choice. (On here recently some muppet at a Dealership told a member that their vehicle that is recommended to use VW 508/509 would get 0w 30 oil at the next service.) .................................................................................................................................................................. For a TSI you can use Long Life oil and you can use to VW502 so 5w 40 FS for Fixed Servicing. For a TDI it must be to VW 504 / 507 (or now on newer ones if following Manufacturers recommendations VW 508 /509 so 0w 20 FS IV) So basically. Use 5w 40 FS to VW 502 and it might well do your engine good and you might use less oil, and it will do no harm and not cause it to use more oil or decrease your cars economy / MPG. - Porsche Taycan
