This ^^^^ Whichever diesel engine you have, it'll be a belt driving the camshaft and all your valves. If the belt has jumped, that's bad. Once it's jumped (teeth on the cam belt) far enough, you'll start to encounter contact (interference) between the piston and valves. This can often end up being catastrophic - as in engine rebuild or new engine time. I wouldn't be running the engine without knowing exactly what the problem is. Not safe and far too risky in my opinion. Gaz

I've asked a Moderator to look at this for you. I think your question about creep will depend on what engine and DSG combination you have. My DQ250 Golf (2.0 litre) creeps. Mrs Gaz's DQ200 Polo (1.8 litre) also creeps, but a friends 1.2 Fabia with the same DQ200, from the same year as Mrs Gaz's Polo, doesn't creep. The DSG's have differing settings according to what car they're in. Gaz

Hello Bikerzz I agree with Paws - comfortable is so subjective. Mrs Gaz has a 2015 Polo. I'm 6'4" too and find it very cramped to drive. Having had an Octavia and a Superb, for comfort, I'd say Superb all day long There have been some gems for sale on here this very year - if you're handy with a spanner ad paying out for a DSG repair: If you search on here there's a wide range of views on Octavia seats. Mine was a vRS (2015) which I found fine, but a number of people can't get on with them. You'll find far fewer adverse comments on Superb seats. Gaz

Is it soaking up from under the carpet (is the sound deadening wet?) or dripping down on top of it? Has the windscreen been replaced? Are your door drains all clear, running free? I think I'd be checking the door seals, looking for signs of water runs, then looking under the dash and behind the glove box for similar signs if it were me. Also maybe lay upside down in the footwell while someone runs a hose over it. Gaz

Mrs Gaz's Polo has recently been exercising its EPC light. Just had it checked and the battery's at 38%, 460CCA when it should be 650. Can't complain as it is the original, so nine years old. Full car scan completed and no other faults 👍 It's a Banner EFB battery. I was thinking about changing to AGM, but then if this one's lasted nine years, maybe 'upgrading' to AGM is a bit pointless? A Varta 096 AGM from ECP is £290, but I can get a Varta 096 EFB for £118 (70Ah, 760CCA), so am I spending an extra £170 for very little gain? Hmmm... Gaz

If you can see or feel the silica bag inside your expansion tank, pull it out. That way at least you'll know if it has actually ruptured, or not. You might still have a blocked matrix of course, but if it's not ruptured, you could reset your heater flaps, and see if that's a factor, and you won't have the silica bag in the tank any more. Plenty of us on here have removed the bag - it's not hard. Does depend on what tank you have though. My 2018 Golf (so same era) had a bag in, which I oiked out, and if I can do it, anyone can! Gaz

Probably timely to ask which engine does your Octavia have? Those faults are going to have a significant effect and, without being addressed, may negate any remap, and leave you with the original problem, as @J.R. has pointed out. Gaz

Hello Lyes Not quite sure what you mean by '... delete it from the ECU and unplugged'? Unless you've had major work done, your car needs a throttle body in order to run. Deleting the EGR I can understand, although the merits of doing so will have mixed opinions on here (i.e. Briskoda). Remapping a car that has a known throttle body problem sounds an odd thing to do (to me at least) without further information. Do you know what the problem is with the throttle body, and why the mechanic decided not to repair or replace it? Gaz

Well remembered, and yes, we still do. Owned for seven years now. It's been an absolute peach and a pleasure to own. Would I remap it? No, I would not. It goes well enough and I don't think it needs more power. Would the DQ200 be more reliable after a remap? That I doubt, and I certainly wouldn't be tempting fate With no expert knowledge whatsoever, I'd expect a remap of the DSG would likely increase load - clamping pressures, accumulator pressure maybe. I think increasing load will increase wear, and increase risk too on the weaker links. I could of course be completely wrong on that. The Octavia's a bigger car of course, but I thought the 1.4 went well, so I'd expect the 1.8 to be an improvement on that. Agree completely on needing a LSD - when driving ours enthusiastically, on good PS4's, it's very easy to not be able to get the power down, or lose traction in all but ideal conditions. Gaz PS: My 2015 vRS TSI (DQ250) was remapped to north of 300bhp, so I'm quite familiar with remapping. Given that, I still wouldn't remap the Polo, engine or DSG.
