Rough 1-2 shift only in manual mode
Does it have the DQ250 six speed DSG? When you say 'rough', is that noisy (if so, what?), it doesn't want to change, there are mechanical aberrations, or something else? Does it make any difference whether it's hot or cold? If it doesn't feel right, it might not be right. Have any fault codes read and the DSG looked at. In a worst case scenario, you could unwittingly be causing damage that might be costly to repair. A stitch in time and all that... Gaz

Buying Skoda Octavia 1.5 TSI
Curious questions 🤔 1) It will perform 15mm closer to the snow, ledges and slightly higher ramps. But you may have mitigated that by being on 55 profile tyres rather than, say, 40 profile tyres. What suspension you have will also be a factor - 15mm lower could mean (or might not) it has independent rear suspension, rather than a torsion beam. 2) This will surely depend on what footwear you use. Barefoot I could see metal pedals being less comfortable than rubber ones. I wear steel toecapped DM boots, and in a blind test, would most probably not be able to tell the difference. The type of pedal covers you choose will not affect the clutch pedals resistance. 3) Yes. Whether you like it, or use it is completely subjective, and personal choice/opinion. Gaz

VRS Purchase - what to look for?
Make sure your heater works and you get hot air from all the vents. You do need to know what was the cause, and fix, of the coolant leak. My 2015 vRS TSI blew it's turbo, the first sign of the problem was a delay in heat getting into the cabin: Gaz

Snapped Drivers Side Interior Door Handle Skoda Superb Mk1
Just looking for photo's from when I had to replace my window regulator back in 2015, but not of them really help. This is the nearest, showing the cable that hooks onto the handle: My memory fails me, but I thought the handle separates from the door card quite easily. Getting the door card itself off is very straightforward. Gaz

Lia Block. Vids or anything.
Plucky little 16 year old 😎 When she took it out for the first, 'getting used to it' drive, and then sent it, someone started cutting onions in this house too

- Superb estate vs Octavia vRS estate - leg room for child car seats?
Having had a Mk1 Superb (saloon, not estate) and a Mk3 Octavia vRS estate, if rear space is key for you, then it's the Superb all day long. The rear legroom/space difference is very noticeable. It does of course depend on front seat occupants size too. At 6'4" and with the drivers seat all the way back, it was a squeeze behind me in the Octavia, but not at all in the Superb. As @edwards has already pointed out, there are Superb's that have a good turn of speed. Gaz- the truth about electric cars
My 1972 1300 Van Den Plas had one too 👍 G- Changing MFD from KPH to MPH in Catterick area help? Will pay! :-)
From this thread it looks like you'll need someone with VCDS or Carista: Details of people who have got VCDS: Look for someone nearby and contact them direct to see if they can help you. Gaz- VRS Estate Aquaplaning
Perhaps '40+' is too fast for the conditions? It won't be because it's an estate. My 2015 vRS estate, on 225/40/18's, never gave me any trouble with water, including once it had a significant increase in power/torque. As has been said already, anything can aquaplane in the right conditions. Just on a point re tyre wear. The last CRX I had came on good brand tyres, with 5mm of tread all round. Fine in the dry, but downright dangerous in the wet. While they looked okay, they were actually hard as nails, and had, to all intents and purposes, simply aged and gone off. Changed to a set of new mid-range tyres and all was well. So tyre condition, as well as wear, could be a factor too. Gaz- So I went and bought a Jaaaag
Jag sure is purdy! 😎😎👍👍 G- Greetings from Queensland, Australia!
G'day interfreak Monte Carlo - nice 😎 Gaz- So I went and bought a Jaaaag
You shouldn't have to, but given the two visits from scrotes, might it be an idea to keep it elsewhere until next week? Different level, but we looked after my Daughter's motorbike while she was away in Kenya recently, for fears that it wouldn't be there when she got back. Gaz- DSG stalling & Jerking
It's a diesel then? In what circumstances is it stalling - what's going on at the time? It happening in Eco suggests to me it might be happening on coasting (so the DSG isn't keeping the engine revs up). Does it stall at tickover, while stationary? And to get an obvious question out of the way, it's not the stop-start simply doing what it's supposed to? On what equipment did the 'fault' show up on? (This question will be irrelevant if it was at a Skoda main dealers). Some simple code readers might not necessarily see all the codes. Someone near you with VCDS might be able to check if there are any other tell-tale signs: Gaz- Best tires for grip on octavia VRS MK3
Lots to read about tyres and grip, et al, in the Tyres sub fora: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/213-tyres-wheels/ My personal preference is Michelin Pilot Sport, but I've had AV7's before and liked them too. Gaz- I locked my keys in the trunk

I see a Kingfisher from time to time on a waterway near me (Horsey Sewer). It's such a beautiful little bird. I've long since given up trying to get a photo of it, and just enjoy seeing it when I do 😎- the truth about electric cars
G- First bong this Autumn.
Got my first bong at 9pm last night. We’d have probably had a frost too, but a cloud layer arrived and saved us. G- VRS 2.0 TSI (EA888) oil consumption?
Not in my albeit limited experience. My 2015 vRS used no oil, although it was only at 25k miles when I sold it. My current GTI (230, but also EA888 G3) also uses no oil - currently at 31k miles. Someone else with greater knowledge than me will be able to say what Skoda/VAG consider 'acceptable' oil usage. Gaz - Superb estate vs Octavia vRS estate - leg room for child car seats?
