Hello Wout , welcome to Briskoda. Gaz
  2. Fault lights coming up on the dash report a very limited set of issues. Nowhere near what may need investigating in your case. What @cheezemonkhaiis alluding to is similar to my asking if it's turning over as fast as you'd expect. Any corrosion around such a major earthing point can reduce the CCA (Cold Cranking Amperage) getting through, which in turn can reduce the rate at which the engine turns over. On some cars (my old Superb was a good example) a certain cranking speed needs to be reached before firing will initiate. In my Superb's case, I could flatten the battery trying to start it, but if I put a jumper set on it it would then start straight away, every time. As well as a visual inspection of the connections, I found a quick check was to bypass the earth strap with a jump lead - if the car then started, there was a good chance that earthing was the issue. I think what @ords is getting at is whether a generic Snap-On reader is capable of identifying a faulty injector. Given that you have at least three other injectors, you really need to know how they've concluded that it's one of them that's up the spout. Injectors can be tested, and thinking one is stuck open is not the same as knowing one is stuck open. You could be throwing money at the parts bin. Are you using a garage with a good track record on VAG/Skoda? Head scratching does make me wonder, when it's a case of using the right diagnostic equipment, and then eliminating the more obvious possible causes. What's the car's mileage, and what are its typical journeys (short stop start, or long distance mile muncher)? Gaz
  3. So was it the original battery coming to the end of its life? (Quite reasonable at seven years old). If not coded to the car, the car might be thinking it's still got the old, knackered battery in it. Perhaps finding and contacting someone local with VCDS might be a good start. With VCDS you can alert the car to it having had a new battery fitted: Or failing that, get a Skoda/VAG friendly garage to have a look and see what's going on. Gaz
  4. Hello Amelka - local I see. Why was the battery replaced? Was the new battery coded? (Was the car told it has a new battery?) Have you got the correct battery? Was it replaced like for like? Were the problems there before you replaced the battery? (I do see you've said 'one day before problem started') When did you replace the battery? Does the glow plug light come on with the ignition and go off a few seconds later? Does the car have a service history? Has anything else been changed or repaired around the same time as the battery? Does the battery and starter turn the engine over as fast as you'd expect it to? Where you say 'no fault codes whatsoever' - what code reader is being used; as in is it a generic one (which could miss relevant codes) or VCDS/main dealer software? I'll ask that a Mod considers moving your post to the Octavia 3 fora. Gaz
  5. Hello Chris - from a bit further South than you. Gaz
  6. I agree with @ApertureS and wouldn't expect your warranty to be affected. The header tank could have been changed at any point. My case was a little different, in that my car was, at the time, still under the three year Manufacturer's warranty. Having had a particularly bad experience previously with my vRS, when the VW main dealer, who was servicing and looking after my GTI (and would have been my first point of contact with any warranty claims) told me not to remove the silikat bag, I decided to err on the side of caution and heed their advice. Gaz
  7. All of which may be so, but having had my turbo fail a few months earlier on my previous vRS, of which a fault in the cooling system may have very well been a factor, I chose not to give VW any additional wriggle room on the manufacturers warranty and left the bag in place, on their say so, until said warranty expired. Gaz
  8. We went to Blenheim Palace today. Highlight for me was seeing this 1990 900 S: Not perfect, but lovely to see all the same 😎 We got caught in the M40 Southbound carnage on the way home. Added two and a half hours to our journey, with over two hours to do just under two miles. Sounded pretty serious with major work needed to repair the central barrier. Lots of people seemed to think it was okay to put their hazard lights on and go along the hard shoulder to get ahead of the rest of us. Gaz
  9. Just on this point alone, I had a 1.9 Passat which was the same. It turned out to be a dud air mass meter. Dunno if your Scout even has one, so just a suggestion. Gaz
  10. Sorry to scoff, but it seems nuts to me that a 4x4 280 might not be suitable for towing 🙄 Hope it transpires that it can 👍 G
  11. Ours was a 1983 model. We'd changed from a 1.2 Starlet because our Daughter's pushchair wouldn't fit in the back. Only real problem we had was the drivers door stuck, closed, when Mrs Gaz was in it and eight months pregnant. She wasn't best pleased. It always felt very solid and safe 👍
  12. Agree with the sentiment, but without knowing otherwise, the defect could've occurred after it was sold. My take is that an installed part of the cooling system has failed. The car is under warranty, so remedial action should be taken via the warranty. It's the dealers problem. It'd probably be worth discussing with Trading Standards/Consumer Direct to ascertain rights and expectations, including rejecting the car if it was bought within that timeframe. G
  13. We had a Volvo 343 that came with a French flavoured Renault 5 engine. Tbf it was a good little engine.
  14. It was indeed. Sold it to a mate after I bought the 9-5 HOT Aero. Drove it several years after I sold it, and found myself wondering what on earth I was thinking to get rid of it. Dimwit! 🙄 Many happy memories - drove it up to western Scotland (Acharacle) and did the 620 miles journey on one tank, fully loaded up with a family of four. Think it's the only car I've owned that was capable of that 😎. Pre-PD too so had the simpler fuelling system that'd run on anything vaguely oily (well you know what I mean). G
  15. I was told, very clearly, by my local VW that if I removed the 'Mit Silikat' bag from my 2018 Golf GTI's header tank that I would void the cars warranty. I'd asked them to remove it during a planned service, which they declined to do. Bought new, but not from the local VW. I took the bag out once the 3 year manufacturers warranty expired. Gaz NB: Not Superb, but worth a read:
  16. Looking for something else and I happened across a photo from early 2006 of my 1999 B5 Passat Estate: 1.9 TDI (AFN) auto. Six CD changer in the boot (Gamma?). Awww Gaz
  17. Blimey, it's still up there somewhere then
  18. Passenger side rear footwell, with the front passenger seat all the way forward is what I do. Gaz
  19. You've obviously not read enough of the forum just yet, 'coz we like daft questions and they put you in good company. Welcome Gaz
  20. @PPIZulu Have you seen in the for sale section: Gaz
  21. And you'd be right to exercise caution. When I owned a Skoda, my local Skoda knew who I was (not hard really) on here, without me revealing it to them. G
  22. Oooh, covert joiner uppery, say nuffink, tell no-one
  23. Just out of interest, this little bundle of joy sold for £74,000 earlier today: I didn't bid on it Gaz
  24. Nah, that'd be just daft Only an eejit would do that (btw, and for the sake of clarity, I was just joshing)
  25. I've tried clicking on the 'Take our survey ->' button ^^^, but it's not working for me 😁😇 G
