Hello and welcome Sounds unreasonable to me. It's a known issue, with a TPI. You've been sold an 'approved used' car, which is now faulty. In my opinion, I'd think this is their problem, and not yours. If it was sold to you with a pre-existing fault, surely it's for the seller to take remedial action, or am I missing something? I had a completely unrelated issue with a 2015 vRS, which I bought new. The one thing I learned is that I should have consulted Consumer Direct/Trading Standards before I entered into any further dialogue with Skoda. I won't be making that mistake again - a word to the wise. Gaz

I think you'll find some will and some won't. My local VW will fit tyres, but for about £20 a pop more than anywhere else. If I were you, and knew what tyre size and type I wanted, I'd google it and go with the best local price option for a fully fitted tyre. My local tyre depot was Tyre City, and their online prices beat everyone else, including their own drive-in price. It's now owned by Kwik-Fit, but is the same staff at the same place. Take a photo of the alloy immediately before you go in - a local main dealer had to pay to refurb two of my alloys when I showed them damage wasn't there before they'd put new tyres on. It took them by surprise as their initial response was 'wasn't us' 🙄 Gaz

Difficult to see, but it could be a Lanvigator CatchPower - made in China. Never heard of them personally. I agree with John - it's too grubby to tell what's grime and what's damage, cosmetic or other. I wouldn't buy it without seeing it in person. Seller appears to have good feedback overall. Gaz

Go on condition and service records. If the lower mileage one is a dented, smelly rustbucket and has yet to have a service, you're probably better off with the higher mileage one, and vice versa. I've had a 2005 V6TDI Superb (Saloon), and a 2015 vRS (Estate). The Superb is really spacious, comfortable, and wafts along effortlessly. The vRS was certainly more fun, a bit more sporty/nimble, and had the versatility that comes with being an estate. I'd have either again without hesitation. Like Colin, I prefer an estate. I've needed the versatility far more often than I've needed to waft along in comfort. Gaz

But I can't fly and there's only one of me I might take it back on the ants front as one's just come in on me. Unusual to see a dense swarm rather than them sailing off as individuals. G

Unusual phenomena - I've got a swarm of flies the other side of the road to my house: Probably about 8' in diameter. They're rising up from the ground in front of this shrub. Don't think they're ants (although it is the right conditions for them). There's a waterway (sewer) behind the shrub, but they look too small for Mayfly - Augustfly maybe? 🙄 Chris Packham talks about the 'apocalyptic reduction' in insect numbers. Going by the splats on my recently cleaned car, I reckon it's just that they're down here and not where he is. G

My next car's going to have brake dust coloured 15" steelies (with a bird poo and bug splat coloured paint job) Back on topic I'm looking forward to @toot picking up the Minie (Mine?) too, and his experiences with it. Gaz

45k miles, FSSH (whatever that means, as we know). It could be needing a bit more beans from me, or a reset. Could be as simple as me being used to a DQ200 that's set up differently. This was pulling away without the handbrake on or any pressure on the foot brake. With the recent wet weather, the brakes were stuck on, but only a bit (the owner had left the handbrake on when they dropped it off with me) and just enough to hear a light clunk as they released. It does it hot or cold, didn't think to try switching to S (Doh!) so will give that a try. Don't know for sure but I think this is a post mineral oil update car. It is quite literally that first moment, not even a second, as you pull away. And only from a standstill - it behaves impeccably otherwise. The owner's not a car person, so likely as not wouldn't even be aware of it. I'll dilly with it a bit more, obviously with some caution as I don't want them coming back to a broken DSG and me looking sheepish Cheers @Crasher about the accumulator mounting. Were it my car I'd be having the DSG checked out, and I'll likely advise them to when they get back. G

I'm currently looking after a '65 1.2 Fabia for a friend while they're on extended holibobs. When pulling away from stationary there's a momentary delay in drive, so it revs before engaging drive, much as like might happen with a manual gearbox if you rev before the biting point. In all other aspects the DSG is fine. Mrs Gaz's car also has the DQ200, but her Polo's a 1.8 (also a '65 plate) and doesn't do this. My DQ250 doesn't do it either. Both are driving from the get go. I was momentarily disconcerted by it, but then wondered if it's normal behaviour for a DSG on a 1.2? Ta for any thoughts, comments or observations. Gaz

I'd always had 174mph (well, since 2007 anyway) in my head. Wonder where I got that from. I'll try to forget it, but I expect it's too firmly etched now 😇 G

As I was cycling home, over the Polegate by-pass this afternoon, I saw some tell tale LED DRL's and a flash red Polo come off the Cophall roundabout slip road. Mrs Gaz was on her way back from Crowborough (funeral directors and solicitors) - what are the odds of me cycling over it at the exact time Mrs Gaz was driving under it? She beat me home 🙄 Said she didn't see me..... in my dayglo orange hi-viz cycling top, bathed in bright sunshine, cloak of invisibility Gaz

Like ords, not an issue for me either. I'm 6'4" and it wasn't an issue in my 2015 vRS estate. I did used to have the seat back as far as it would go on its runners though - maybe your seats have less adjustment range? (not that I know, just guessing as to why you can't find the right spot). G

If the steering wheel is at it's highest point of adjustment and the seat is uncomfortable any lower or further back, I guess the only options are to put up with it, or get a steering wheel with a larger diameter. Gaz

Out of curiosity, do you know Graham well enough to make such a statement? Fair play if you do. But otherwise it doesn't seem very nice, and adds nothing to a quite interesting thread. I actually think everyone makes good comments from all perspectives, which brings a nice bit of balance. How I was taught too - cadence braking was it referred to at the time? (My memory fails me once again). My Golf still catches me out from time to time, as I start gentle braking and the car decides to assist me, leaving any passengers wondering WTF I'm up to as we go into unnecessary braking. Gaz
