E-bike
Bike dropped off at the doctors, awaiting news. Fault not obvious, so needs diagnostics. It needs a service, two new tyres, chain and cassette (has started to jump in 8th/9th occasionally), hydraulics service (brakes) and whatever electrical repairs. Holding my breath, but it serves me right for not having it serviced since before lockdown. Gaz

Junk mail intermittent
Thanks @SteveTheElder - yes, I've got rules that (should) delete Heyspin if the word's in the sender, subject name, and also the specific email address. And the rule: I'm thinking I may have to resort to napalm, or my Phalanx CIWS 🔫 Gaz

Lofty's Sprint Yellow Fabia vRS Mk1 - "Project Daffodil"
You took it outside! Blimey, if I had a car that nice, I'd only want to drive it on freshly vacuumed Wilton or Axminster carpet 😎 Looks jubbly btw 👍👍 Gaz

Forgive me father, for I have sinned... Hocus Pocus
Many a year ago, back when the world was black and white, you could semi prime a dry pump by sucking on the delivery side pipe (and enjoy a mouthful if you were lucky) to draw fuel into it. The way that attempt sounded, I’d be checking for spark too, as it didn’t sound like it was trying. Gaz

E-bike
My bike's just packed up 😭 Powers up but it's not recognising the wheel magnet, so no speed, and therefore no motor. No prior warnings. Was fine a couple of days ago. Tried restarts and moving the wheel magnet a mm at a time, but no joy. I'd just got Mrs Gaz's ebike out and pumped the tyres, dusted it off etc. We still went out, but it was hard going. I was hoping it might sort itself out but nada, nuffink doing. On the bright side, her's will tow me up a steep slope on the throttle alone 👍 Have drank half a gallon since getting home and still don't need a wee! I've left a message for the bike shop (not open today). Sad times Gaz

Junk mail intermittent
I use a MacBook Pro, and I've recently seen a noticeable increase in junk mail, no idea why. Probably a couple of dozen a day. The Mac does a good job of filtering it out into a junk folder, but even when I block the sender and add key words to a 'rule' that deletes them, some still get through. A good example here is HeySpin: The red 'no entry' sign shows the sender's already blocked, and if you look in the 'Rules' if the subject line contains 'Heyspin', it should just get deleted without me seeing it. So I'm under the impression that I shouldn't get it on two counts. I wondered if it's just intermittent, or if anyone knows if I'm doing something wrong, or missing a trick? TiA Gaz

Warning lights on after battery change
Indeed. My Mk1 certainly didn't. @Colliedogs is describing several warning lights that are increasingly common with battery changes. My 2015 vRS had battery management, so I figure Colliedogs' is more likely to have than not, as it's from the same era. Gaz

Some astrophotography shots
I've been looking upwards for a while. It's surprising what you can see, even with 10x50 binoculars. I'm lucky to have Herstmonceux Observatory and Science Centre only a few miles away and access to dark(ish) skies as a result. I wasn't sure what to get, but it's easy to find recommendations, not to mention we have astronomy group open evenings at both Herstmonceux and Beachy Head. I also wasn't sure if I'd take to it, so didn't want to spend a lot of money for an entry level telescope. I decided on a 130mm Celestron, or similar. But then this came up, very locally (under two miles away) for peanuts, with three lenses, including a Barlow: It's a 114mm Helios (forerunner to Celestron), but I figure it's a good starting point. As an absolute novice, I've cleaned it, but I'm dead nervous about collimating, so I might join a local group to find my way. Yet to use it properly. Interesting to read @skomaz comment about his spotting scope - I'd wondered if one of those might be a better option for me. Gaz

Think it's likely you haven't 'told' the car it's got a new battery. Gaz

This little rose bush is only two years old, but already produces an astonishing number of blooms that are still too heavy for its branches - full marks for effort: Love-in-the-mist: And sat doing a bit of gardening, I got the unerring feeling that I was not alone: Gaz

Are garages insured to drive taxis ?
Surely then no offence is being committed as the garage are not 'operating a taxi..', but driving in in relation to plying their trade of being a garage, rather than using it for hire or reward? Sounds daft to me that a garage can't do a reasonable test drive of a car they've worked on. Gaz

Left exhaust louder than the right?
It's a 230 - so a TSI, not a diesel. Am I missing something? My GTI shares pretty much the same 230 set up, and has two working tailpipes. Gaz

Left exhaust louder than the right?
Most likely condensating water collecting inside the silencer. A good run and several hard accelerations (maybe uphill too), to slosh it out the hole at the back helped when mine started to gargle. Gaz
