  1. Not so much on newer cars, unless you don't get out for motorway/longer runs on a reasonably regular basis and it is all town driving. Regardless with 12k miles, I'd say petrol and with 15k both could work, but with all the hatred/taxing/bans and increased parking charges of diesel, you're better off with petrol (for now). What's your typical and maximum journey lengths though, as it could play into a hybrid or electric vehicle?
  2. Which trim level are you? I'm fairly certain the dual tone horn is very similar to the FIAMM. If you have a single tone horn, it might be better to find an OEM dual tone and do a direct swap.
  3. On the Jag front which of the 4 seat versions are you talking about? The manual, the cheaper 10 or 14 way or the pricy 18way adjustable? I find Skoda seats more generally have no give, but for me the superb seat side bolsters gave me a painful/dead leg after about 10-20 miles . Couldn’t work out what it was exactly but I would get is was the seat structure under the padding.
  4. Did you go for a 180 or 240?
  5. R dynamic? Which engine did you get in the end?
  6. It's not really a superb problem, it's a VW group problem. The car list prices are far more expensive than they should be IMHO, then they discount it away. So I get a 5k discount, but a 2.5k extra tax bill (Plus first year hit). Why not just take 3-4k off the list so it's below the 40k cap and people will have to get used to the fact that there is 1-2k off not 5k. It's that "big discount" model coming back to bite them in the arris.
  7. Just consider when doing it that LED bulbs are probably not type approved/road legal. I've seen a few claim they are approved headlight bulbs, but only for LHD cars.
  8. I was looking at the estate, but I can configure that today so at least it's still available. The killer is that an S3 sportback can be had for under 40k list vs a superb for over 40k list. The kit on the car probably will be different and the size is obviously much smaller, but the extra tax on cars listing over 40k, will obviously hurt and need to be factored in. Obviously it will come down to lease prices once discounts are factored in.
  9. About a week tbh... Will have another look now
  10. If the dealer will fix it/clean it FOC, then obviously that's the prefered route. How hard is it to get the fog lights or the surrounding trims out on the S3 anyway?
  11. Pressure wash usually removes the green, or a reasonable amount of strong sunlight will likely kill it off. If you've not got strong sunlight, you could try drying it out with a warm (not hot) hairdryer, then carefully using a UV sterilising lamp to kill the living matter. Worth a punt.
  12. I looked on the online tool and couldn't configure a 272 with L&K so had kind of discounted it to be honest. Might be interesting again now
  13. My money is on them claiming a software update that magically makes everything run better. It does feel a little like dieselgate all over again and clearly some range standards need to be designed to standardise the figures properly. Mix in some cold running, some warm running and a random mix of hard driving and city style stop start driving. They really need to do something about the complete fiction coming from the hybrid cars too.

  15. Ditto tyres are a massive factor. Other things that can make a difference is weight saving. Reducing the mass of something can make resonant noise. The spare wheel well can be a real noise generator if you don't actually have a spare. Even with a spare, I found a small patch of dynamt type material around the sides and a couple of pieces over the bottom removed a drumming noise on certain road surfaces. Ditto for putting some carpet underlay below the boot carpet. These days weight is a big issue for MPG and emissions, so you can't just chuck extra mass at a car in the factory to damp everything. Careful placement on designed pieces of mass damping is needed, along with the correct isolation of points of transmission and shaping of items such as mirrors. All achievable, but at a cost and at some point this passes the price point of a mainstream car.
  16. I assume the superb has a 60-75L tank from the ranges mentioned here?
  17. Do they still make it as l&k or only sport line now?

Right... Regardless of rights or wrong, this has to stop. The fact that we're getting reports and having to consider cleaning up a goodbye thread clearly proves that some things have gone too far!
  19. They would still do a pure up down “dance” just without the left right movement.
  20. Do you have any levelling adjustment by the light switch? You shouldn’t but it’s worth checking. Same goes for headlight washers in the bumper. The lights definitely should dance around when the engine is running.
  21. Late to the post, but there was a tsb for leaking shocks as my local dealer checked my car during a service. the tsb was for prematurely leaking shocks.
  22. Threads merged...
  23. It's true the width isn't a great help on the side roads and that's a fair point. Sadly I think some of that is just people not caring, as we get the same with big US trucks and 4x4 type vehicles around here. Our household will get one electric car first, to see how we get on with them then we'll look at either hydrogen fuel cell if viable or another electric a few years later. Our problem is that whichever car is first, be it a bigger car or a 3 mile trip to work car, the range has to be 200miles give or take on a single charge in winter and it will have to be able to take shopping/kids. If it's the larger car, then closer to 300 would be good, but I also want it enjoyable to drive. Personally I have always perfered a car that handles like a go cart and gets up to speed reasonably quickly over one that is very fast in a straight line but no fun in the corners. Last time I did any modifications to a car it was a billstein B12 kit, new bushes all around and better brakes, with nothing to the engine at all. That is also why I really didn't like the original merc and etron releases, although I don't like lardy ICE cars either, so perhaps worth re-visiting the second generations. The e-Corsa seems to be getting a lot of marketing budget thrown at it, much as every other electric car, but I have to be honest I've not driven the smaller stuff bar the mini. I'd love it if mini did a clubman with a range near 200 miles, but then we are also starting to look at some of the other small stuff too and considering starting with the second car as the first electric car. Your model information says you've got an e-Corsa. Are you happy with it? Much as I've not been a fan of vauxhall, that's mainly for the drivers of astra and insignia on the motorway more than anything else. Any thoughts on good and not so great bits with it?
  24. It’s one I would add yes, I’d want to see the lease price in the real world as opposed to the list, but it’s an option. The ipace handles well for a porky and is another option on the electric front. Not a fan of Elon and his behaviour, so they are not. I skipped a car by extending the last vehicle with the intention of having something fun this time. Charger infrastructure is a risk but I am hoping it rapidly improves. The other option is to go for a last chance gt or sleeper with a big engine such as an ftype svo/v6 or perhaps an rs6 etc. I found the merc similar in terms of softness of the ride, but you expect that to a degree in a merc. I am sure/hope that gen 2 will be better across all brands, but many of the first attempts didn’t in my opinion get the handling right with all the extra weight.
  25. Yes, hence the hoping it’s not horrible to drive.
