Which Bluetooth kit to fit - Nokia CK-7W or Parrot CK3100

Featured Replies

Okay, my dad has just removed his 3 year old Nokia CK-7W bluetooth kit and had a brand new Parrot CK3100 kit fitted as the nokia kit did not support his new blackberry.

He is due delivery of his new passat in 6 weeks, so the parrot kit will be removed from his old passat prior to going back to the leasing company.

I have the choice of either of these and wondered which would be the better option.

I like the idea of the Nokia kit being very discrete and I have Nokia 6500 slide which compatibilty shouldnt be a problem, also I dont have to wait to get it fitted.

The other kit might be up for grabs after I have decided.

Has anyone experienced both of these kits ? Which is the better option ?

The Nokia kit would probably be my choice.

Had both, always had a Nokia phone, much prefer the Parrot.

Personal pref. etc

Nokia, for compatibility reasons, although I ain't tried a parrot. I have the nokia one and it works flawlessly. I heard the parrot are a little twitchy sometimes.

I have the nokia ck-7w in my octavia, its hidden away behind the climate controls with the mic mounted at the top of the A pillar. The kit comes with a speaker, I have not used this, but instead got some wires and connected the appropriate terminals on the HU. When I get a call, the hu is muted and the sound is played through all 4 speakers and is crystal clear. Volume is controlled via the HU which makes things very simple.

Phone pairing is a doddle for bluetooth, and with the added functionality of a dedicated nokia cable interface, you can also charge your phone in a cradle and keep the ciggy socket free.

I use a Nokia 6021 via the cradle, and my N95 via bluetooth and they all work fine.

Getting the Nokia kit tomorrow of my dad.

Got all the fitting instructions, but Ill probably be asking loads of questions, so watch this space.

I have had both and IMHO, the Parrot is the better system.

My Nokia kit was okay with my Nokia handset (although not perfect). Once I changed to a Sony phone, the Nokia kit just refused to work properly. I also feel that the sound quality from the Parrot is better.

Having fitted a couple of Nokia Ck7-W and a 3200 parrot and now a 3100 parrot, I think it depends on a few things.

Parrot

- Iso connectors are great if you have iso and want plug and play, but a pain if you want to wire straight in. I cut mine off the loom.

- Many more features

- Firmware upgradeable.

Nokia

- Simple and not too hard to fit

- Few features but does the ones it has well

- Better microphone quality IMHO.

I have the Parrot and am very pleased with it. Good Microphone and features. Very simple to use. I can't tell you how easy it was to fit as I got a professional to do mine!!

Can't praise it enough to be honest.

I have never used the Nokia kit, so can't comment on that one.

I have the nokia kit in my Octavia, along with the auto mute and a speaker kit, so the nokie unit drives the cars main speakers rather than using the little nokia one which is supplied. I self installed mine :-)

All the car has to show is the small volume / answer/hangup button

I will need help soon. Ive got the kit and no speaker, so I need to wire it up to the stereo.

You need an extra cable and little speaker bypass box to use the car speakers. I can't remember where I got mine from, but I have some pictures before I refitted it (took it out when my laser detected was stolen and some of the wiring got damaged)

I was looking for adapter kits, but couldn't find anything on the market, so it would connect easliy to the OEM stereo.

All you need the car kit to do it send a mute signal to the radio, and then "extra" bit (see my other post for URL link) to then send the audio from the hands free base box out to the car speakers.

Thats what I used after trying the speaker which was pooh.

On the motorway you cqan still hear the call through the car speakers, but with the supplied one you can't really.

I got mine off ebay for around £20 delivered.

If your on the OEM stereo you my have to get a specific adaptor as to fit in with wiring etc.

Give them a bell, they are very helpful

They sorted me out when my stereo kept cutting out with the telemute lead.

I had to do some minor re-wiring and they gave me the instructions via e-mail:thumbup::thumbup:

I didn't use that thing on any I've done and just wire straight into the audio in part of the car stereo.

I have got a brand new Parrot CK3100 kit today, from my dads work. Luckily all the new company cars had integrated bluetooth kits, so there was no need for them.

I will have the nokia one up for sale soon.

I'm running a parrot 3200 and in another car the Nokia CK-7W

The parrot is much more compatible and the sound is better coming back to you IMHO, however the microphone from the nokia is much better.

Again personal preference really, but i'd probably pick the parrot as then you can chuck the phone out of the way in the arm rest and use the parrots display to see who is calling etc.
