I hav e a question regarding the fascia on the pictures you posted.

I bought an aftermarket MFD2 for my octavia '08, but in Holland you can't buy such a fascia. Do youknow where i can buy it online?

I made same as you. I'm in Turkey. First, I bought it. So I learnt there isn't new fascia which suit it. Then I talked to dealer and made an order and gave them part number. The last, they brought it for me only to (aprox) ten dolars and in ten days.

It only provides the platform (WinCE 5.0) to launch your choice of Satnav software from mate. It then has a button that's mapped back to the .exe file that kicks off the chosen software (not sure how geeky you want me to get) It uses a "mouse" style GPS antenna just like the VAG unit's (MFD2 etc)

In theory, any Navigation software designed for PNA devices will work on this unit, but IGO8 works 100% in practice and supports the witsons native screen resolution.

Think of the Witson as not being a true head unit, but somewhere between a head unit and a carputer and you have got it sussed. It's basically a Head unit shaped PDA for want of a better expression.

So, I don't think anyone can answer the question directly, because the answer actually lies in the manual of whatever Nav software you buy (or acquire) and install.

I am very much interested in a new headunit like the one you talk about in the thread.

I must have RDS though, anything else would be irritating for me.

I have tried many IGo version before to find out the right one. Problem is only compatibility of the program.

With the right one you will get IGo8 on you unit without problems .

Very nice systems will be useful if ever the exchange rate gets better, and once they install digital TV, we have no analog here now

first of all i want to say sorry for my bad english. i need your help.

about 10 days ago i received my witson 782 for my octavia II tsi. It is not the best machine but it looks great. when i bought it, i ask the seller if i can watch gps map while i hear music , and he answer me yes. i install it on my car and i can watch gps map and hear music only from dvd. i mean i can not watch gps map and hear music for radio or sd or usb or tv. of course i have tund on gps in setting. I email to seller and he answer me ""Please connect" Brake" wire of the DVD player to the ""Brake" wire of your car that is the only wire make it as a dual zone, then choose "ON" of the GPS setting mode afterwards.""

so i want all you have the same dvd to tell me, if you have done something like this or if you know something else.

Does anyone know if there will be any units with digital TV coming on the market, what with the analog signals being turned off all over the Uk shortly, ours has already, and if i get a unit i dont really want to fit a separate digi box

does it have a dimmer function so its not too bright at night time?

also, how good is the Ipod feature with my 30GB Ipod Video? that and Bluetooth would be its main uses

I have d780-witson. So for this device: It has dimmer button with 3 level; dark-medium-bright. The bright level is brighter than car's dash illumination level.

I can't say anything about ipod because I m not using ipod but if you go back in this tread, there must be some explanation.

Bluetooth: In first I was thinking it is good but after some people who calling me or listening me from other side say generally my voise is too poor. So I think the device's microphone needs to operation.

I have a D782 Witson. I think dimmer is like the D780. There is a easy button on the dislay to switch off the light on the display but it's not so handly to choice the different light for the display: there is only a selector that you have to push 10 tims before to select the dimmer; alternatively you need to go out from the play menu and go the settings and select the right dimmer directly.

This unit is not made for our iPod! It manages only ipod with little capacity. The main error with big ipods is to not be able to open list with many titles. And it's easy to have long titles list with your 30Gb or mine 80Gb iPod .

Also, the iPod menu on he screen is poor, without the same functions of the iPod and the audio quality is not good.

Bluetooth with new D782 is better then he D780 and people can ear your voice fine.

It's useful to store mp3 music on dvd and SD reader.

TV is not necessary and you need to install two good antennas.

USB port is not 2.0 (in my opinion) and it's not so fast.

Radio is good but doesn't have RDS function.

Another lack on this unit is the the loudness function.

Very good is the GPS ( I suggest IGO 8) even if mine is not real "dual zone" unit: It means that I'm not able to play music while GPS works. For this purpose this way D780 is better.

Its the 780 im bidding on, I will need a new Fascia too I believe, which is no big deal. But Im worried about the Ipod thing, I currently use a Dension Icelink with the standard stream unit, does the 780 display track info?

I would like change it and buy another HU like u did.

would u pls advice about the sound quality, and shall i will be able to connect it to external amplifier and change the factory speakers or not, also I would like to know about ur experience with such device

I m using d780, its sound quality is not better than original HU. Bluethoot is good but sometimes the people from other side on phone say that my sound is in sufficient, tv function is not usable because you have to become static otherwise display is going out, but nav (IGO8) is perfect .

Any idea how much they are, the only thing missing is being able to put a sim card in

I wish someone would bring out a taxi unit, it would need digital radio, sat nav, phone, and a taxi meter all in 1 unit, just think of the taxi sales it could generate world wide

Then all that would be require is slot it into the dash and off you go, and no more clutter
