I've just been listening (partaking) in a conversation with some people at work about if you don't drive a BMW no-one gives you respect on the road :rofl: and if you drive a supermini people will always cut you up and overtake you because they have a faster car than you therefore you should buy a z3 or a 325i for your 1st car to make you a better & safer driver.

after listening to an hour of him trying to convince someone in the office to buy a BMW because they are the worlds best car and because they are the best cars it makes you a better driver. I then had to point out that his parking wasn't even inside the white line of the parking bay and he drives a z3 2litre. :D

I know we all think our car is better than some elses but that is just utter b0ll0 x that was coming out of his mouth.

how can buying a 10year old z3 be safer and better than a more modern supermini for someone who has just passed their driving test?

this was his advise for someone who has just past their driving test.

no offense itended to any brisky bmw drivers but this guy is a **** and gives you all a bad name and his thoughts seem to be the general consensous within the office here, I guess its just the area that I work in that give these people the thought that they are better than everyone else.

I know there's not really much point to this thread but I need to get off my chest what a c~@t he is and he shouldn't be allowed on the road with that attitude.

You don't even have to get personal about BMWs to answer that one. Just try to get an insurance quote as a new driver on a z3 .

Otherwise, its perfect

I bet he thinks speed kills too. Not in his 2.0 z3 though lol.

Tell him he should have got a Z3M, then he would have your respect, as currently - you think he is gay.

I test-drove a used one just pre-vRS - they are nice cars, but a tad light and not too powerful I felt.

When I thought that I had wrecked my vRS's engine - I sat and thought for a week on a replacement car.

The combo of the Fabia's vRS's power, economy and price cannot be found easily if at all.

Yes the newer BMW Z's nice, but no need to go OTT....

:)I learnt to drive in a 1972 Morris Marina 1300. It had the most horrendous clutch judder of any car I've ever driven, handled like a ferry, and was generally knackered! I had to learn reversing in my instructors Micra as the Marina had lost reverse gear! However, I honestly believe it made me a better driver...if you can master driving something as crap as that Marina you can drive anything! I'm not claiming it makes me a better driver than anyone else BTW.

Sounds like your work colleague has a serious image problem! And terrible taste in cars too.

Kinda goes without saying - if you buy a car purely for image - you're kinda screwed unless you have a lotta cash.....

The only z3 i would be seen in would be either a z3m or my cousins 2.8 with a jackson supercharger

Only problem i have found is these cars dont like going forwards, they just step out and go sideways........ not much fun if you have juts passed your test and dont know what to do in that situation.

You never really know how to drive properly until you have driven a RWD car.

The guy sounds like a ****, does he think his 2.0l z3 is quick?? I ma sure we could between the both of us prove him wrong ;)

Just yawn and walk away.

Yep, and don't wait until he's finished talking before you do it. If you show you're upset he will only think you're jealous, whatever you actually say.

BMW = Boost My W!lly

Should get his 2.0 Z3 faced off against a 2.0 Fabia... that'll show 'em!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Oh dear, oh dear, seems your colleague loves himself too much. I mean, at least buy one with a real engine in it for starters. As for trying to convice a new driver that this sort of vehicle makes them a better driver, I don't know what planet he is on.

And on Top Gear last night they say BMW's are no longer driven by c*cks(!) sorry but they are wrong !

Break My Windows !

Seriously now.....this chap really needs a bit of sympathy as he's clearly incredibly shallow and obsessed with image. He must be very deeply unhappy.

Personally I have nowt against BMW's nor their drivers and in genral don't agree with the way they're stereo-typed. This chap will be a b3llend no matter what he drives.

And making him realise that he's just bought a hairdressers' car ain't really going to help!

:rofl::rofl: I was just thinking the same thing:D

I have a 2.0l z3 :)

It's not faster than your car, I'm not a better driver (nor a hairdresser), but it is great fun. And on a nice day I can put the roof down :D

just as a matter of interest, what is wrong with bmw's???

BMWs had an image of being driven by arrogant t0$$ers. That said, since the Octy A4 came out (years before I bought one), I've been cut up by more VWs and Audis than anything else (but would say that the majority aren;t driven that badly).

Golf MK IV GTi - Has to be the bigest number of badge w@nkers driving these ever.

BMW's do have a lot of *** holes buying the clapped out old ones to look cool.

And on a nice day I can put the roof down :D

...And in this man's army you'd be shot at dawn for not doing so on any occasion there wasn't something falling from the sky! :D

This reminds me of one time about 10 years back, it was a cold, wet June day, and I overtook a couple in a Midget in my ZX. At that point i saw their miserable cold wet faces and realised that not only was I warmer, drier and going faster than they were; I was also enjoying myself more!

I hired a TR6 for SWMBO's nnth birthday to pick her up from work and embarrass / delight her in front of all her colleagues. Was a lovely sunny day when I picked her up so all worked well, but had a thoroughly miserable time driving back along the M61 after our weekend away through a thunderstorm...

judging by your forum name, you're not actually in any type of position to make such assumptions
