Nope, the McLaren just pulled away, but it was close. Trouble was a 2.0 Furby then took them both like a king. :D:rofl:

i used to be a copper and i left the job partially cos of people like you (i assume you are a copper and not a fireman).

please go jump off a cliff along with the rest of the "holier than thou" brigade.

Coppers dont cut people from cars, so just by that statement alone you have made yourself look stupid.

What bit of my post offended you to have to say that to me. I hope none of your family/friends are ever involved in a fatal rtc.....it ruins lives, and that was all I was saying.

You clearly endorse driving like a kn0b, which makes you a kn0b.

Whats with this guy? i got my vrs because i like the odd blast out like overtaking in 6th and like covering people in smoke like this guy and his wife in a saab cabby,i dont drive round like a loon in 30 zones or anything just have a good laff every now and then. why dont you just get the bus dude?

Haha, legend.

I do that.

If I see a cabriolet which I deem to be "pants" i.e. anything built after 1991, I change up a gear and give it a floor.

Doing it with a decat and tuning box certainly gets RIGHT up their noses.

So you implying were all sh!t drivers and should drive slow

your thread title concerns me? it implys you have doubts - perhaps you need to see a doctor? its clear to everybody else what you need to do - DONT READ THREADS STARTED BY LITTLE BOYS IN LITTLE CARS.

ahem i'm a big boy in a little car:D

Too much infomation.

Suppose if you drive carfully while tonking it, should be ok...

I want to mod my vRS to 220bhp because i want to overtake safey, and i like acceleration, dont give to hoots about doing a tonne 20 down the backroads.

Ive crashed before, and been at nasty crashes and would tell anyone to take it steady when modding, especally when it comes to tyres... a tyre that grips more will loose traction suddenly, where as budget tyres... you can feel the slip gradually.

Always buy budget. And know your limit (go to a track and find out in your own car).

Hope that atleast one person reads this and takes action and saves there car, and more importantly, a life.

,if i crash i'll buy another,i want more performance to smoke cars i really shouldn't be able too on track or road, its the other blokes fault for racing me;)

I have to say I cannot believe you are recommending people buy s*** tyres.

Same here, utter crud haha. I will never ever buy some nankangs or any other rubbish.

Lofty dare ya to put some remoulds on

To be honest I don't think that "my vrs beat a xxx" threads gain respect from anyone on here. Since I've been here I've always felt that the member base is more mature than the kind of people who race off from every traffic light, etc. Yes, occasionally we all give in to temptation and can't resist showing people that the car is better than what they are driving in terms of acceleration, but I wouldn't say that it is a major problem on this forum :)

I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way about the community but I hope that, rather than you having to leave, the few people that your comments may apply to take note and try to change their ways :)

^^^^What he said. I drive quickly where it is safe, and have made it a rule never to go down in terms of performance when I change car. However, I'm too old and too interested in my NCD and licence to drive like a complete tool.

some remounds are not bad... way better than the chinese sh*te that high street wheels scratchers sell.

Sorry, but that's wrong. A good tyre won't let go suddenly, but a cheap one will let go a long way before, and that might be when you have all wheels locked, the ABS chattering, and a pedestrian who has just stepped out. I've had lots of cars over the years on tyres ranging from Woo-Song Ditchfinders to premuim brands, and guess which is on my car now?

Now that is *very* good advice.

yes there are knobs that drive cars.

but there the vast magority are good drivers.

thats the same to be said with this forum.

there are some *****, but most of the people on here are amazing guys who will give you all of the advice you need. (thanks for all thr amazing advice lately guys, got my alloys on now, just need to lower, and remap now.!)

what you said is such a generalisation.

if anyone does start a thread... "i beat a veyron in my vRS", people will rip the **** out of the person who posted it, and then the thread will be deleted.!

SORTED.

most of the posts on here are well worth reading, and i learn so much everyday by being on here.!!

rant over.

thanks for all your hard work.

im proud to be a briskodian.

Oh my ****ing god.!

Ok... first off no one listen to this person.

He should be banned for this statement, this could f**king cost a life.

Budget tyres are budget for a reason, they are made with cheaper materials and less reaseqarch and development is done on the designs.

You buy a good tyre, it will not only grip better, but it will last you ALOT longer too.

I used to buy budget tyres (i was a poor student), but I now have a good set of bridgestones.

The bridgestones grip much better, feel more planted at higher speeds, and should last me much longer.

When i say grip better, I mean MUCH MUCH better, I was amazed, and they dont just loose grip until much later than the cheap ones would have..

Thats why F1 and touring teams spend hundreds of thousands on tyre development every year... when they could have just gone to kwickfit and got some takiwakis from china.!!!

Mate you have actually really ****ed me off.!!

Again rant over.

I f****ng agree mate, I'm on Bridgestones for a reason on the vRS.

.......TAKIWAKIS.......for christ's sake.....NANKANG, now there's a tyre :rofl::rofl:

DO NOT BUY REMOULDS, save the extra and buy a good tyre, especially on the vRS's.

exactly...a good tyre would hold on until the very last minute befor giving out.

plus, I find they actually last longer, especially on the more powerful cars. my mate decided to go down the cheaper route on the fabia vRS tyres white I went down the Bridgestone route........he had 2 sets to my one and mine gripped better too, especially for the sake of £30 per tyre.

Remember.....the tyres are the only thing touching the road, so while people may skimp on the brakes etc, I believe, (& I don't care what anybody says), you should NEVER use cheap tyres, as these do the braking too, not just keeping you on the road!!!

Remoulds.....NO NO NO

Having been an on/off regular here since 2004, using the site for advice/hints and reference I have become increasingly cocerned with the way this site seems to be heading.

Why?

I'm reading more and more 'My vRS beat a McLaren F1' type threads these days from people who seem to think it clever to drive like idiots on public roads, just so they can lie to thier mates in the pub about how good they are at driving and how fast thier car is.

Now, I use speed when it suits for overtaking etc and if I see a kn0b in a saxo at traffic lights revving his engine I purposely let him 'beat' me off the line, I frankly find it embarrassing that us guys think that we turn into sex gods just by beating a car off or to the line. Get a grip.

Now, each to his own, you carry on embarrassing yourselves BUT when me and my colleagues up and down the country are called out to cut you free (if you are not already dead) DONT complain that it hurts, because quite frankly we dont want to hear it.

Too many times I've seen people dead in the road/wreck to even have the slightest bit of sympathy for the kn0bhead who somehow survived and is still alive.

So, carry on boasting that you beat this and that, im sure someone is interested, but not me.

Rant over, and I ain't apologising.

I presume that this was due to a bad day at work (or PMT).

Listen - People on Briskoda are 'Car Enthusiasts'. I'm sure there are some members that like to drive fast - I don't actually see where this is going unless you wish to post on every car owners website about the dangers with speed as on every car owners forum I have been on there is always a VS thread.

I myself must state I'm not the slowest person on the road. However, I think alot more since doing my "advanced driving" this involves other factors (not just speed) conditions, location, Number of passangers, Fuel Prices, Distance, Time and many more factors are there apart from just driving fast that can cause an accident.

I would advise anyone and everyone to do an advanced driving course.

I don't mean to sound harsh but step back from the PC - Take a breath... Come back and actually think about what your trying to state to people.

- It has been said already but the Mods on briskoda are brilliant at removing "VS threads" and it's already a sticky stating not to post them.

Listen - There will always be people who want to share a story.. There are hundreds on briskoda (Just a few Include):

- Skoda Fabia 2.0l

- Honda Civic Vs Fabia (With a remap)

- 0 - 60mph times vs standard figures

- Internet Trolls

These are all looking to bait or show-off. Truth is - I'm not interested. There is a reason in my eyes that there are race tracks - There is a reason that "Briskoda" attend these race track meets.

Oh did 'My vRS beat a McLaren F1' - No.

Well said. You don't to be going fast to have an accident. I've skidded on ice before at slow speeds. I would think there are plenty of injuries from this kind of senario.

Oh did 'My vRS beat a McLaren F1' - No.

Yes, yes..mine did.....then I woke up.

Seriously though, the mods do a great job of keeping the 'pointless' threads off here , but they are not superhuman, so occasiaonally they will miss one.

As I have said before, just don't read them if they wind you up, I don't.

and the main course of accidents is speed... so the simplest soloution dont travel and then that will make you stationary and stationary objects cannot collide with other stationary objects... only moving objects can collide and to move you need speed or we go back to the start of this paragraph and go through it all again

So your trying to state that we should all just not bother getting up in the morning? :D

Good Advice - However doesn't pay the bills here :thumbdwn:
