Maybe I should go....

Featured Replies

Having been an on/off regular here since 2004, using the site for advice/hints and reference I have become increasingly cocerned with the way this site seems to be heading.

Why?

I'm reading more and more 'My vRS beat a McLaren F1' type threads these days from people who seem to think it clever to drive like idiots on public roads, just so they can lie to thier mates in the pub about how good they are at driving and how fast thier car is.

Now, I use speed when it suits for overtaking etc and if I see a kn0b in a saxo at traffic lights revving his engine I purposely let him 'beat' me off the line, I frankly find it embarrassing that us guys think that we turn into sex gods just by beating a car off or to the line. Get a grip.

Now, each to his own, you carry on embarrassing yourselves BUT when me and my colleagues up and down the country are called out to cut you free (if you are not already dead) DONT complain that it hurts, because quite frankly we dont want to hear it.

Too many times I've seen people dead in the road/wreck to even have the slightest bit of sympathy for the kn0bhead who somehow survived and is still alive.

So, carry on boasting that you beat this and that, im sure someone is interested, but not me.

Rant over, and I ain't apologising.

Do you feel better now? lol

VRS's suck off the line anyway.

Beating saxo's off roundabouts ftw

i'm not nearly 20k into a skoda to go round driving slow:rolleyes:

I drive fast where fast is safer, (not 100mph either, that it tit head speed), not like a tw*t on the back roads.

I for one don't go round saying all that sort of stuff, my car is as fast as it is and I don't try to take on anybody who I know will whoop my fabia's ****.

Like oilburninnut says, I didn't buy a Fabia vRS to drive like a granny.

Note: If these type of threads wind you up, don't read them, I don't read threads that I would find annoying. I don't get involved with the threads that get heated, I just go to the ones where I can help somebody if they need it, if I can help.

It's good that you have expressed your thoughts on here too, I would if I had a grevance.

I understand what you are saying carefree, but the general "I beat XXXXX" posts are removed and the vast majority of the users in here take great delight in dissecting the users and their posts bit by bit. Part of this is also the report post button in the bottom left hand corner of each post, feel free to use it, we cannot vet every post that comes through so rely on users with their head on their shoulders to tip us the wink.

Demographics of people in here will change, of that there is no doubt, the skoda range was never the most expensive but now you can pick up fabias and octavias in the 3-4k budget making the car more accessible to the masses, which IMHO forced scoobynet to turn out the way it has with the advent of £1500 impreza classics.

The bottom line is, I’m not going to tickle any ego’s and say you must stay because of X,Y or Z, but the core membership has stayed pretty consistent and if anything grown in strength over the past few years. The majority of posts on here are still relevant and useful with the (more than) occasional off topic banter. These people that incense you either come and go again or come and learn, they do-not get the opportunity to have it any other way.

It takes all sorts in here, defining the place as a community!

:woohoo:

So what benefits do we get? or is it just a warm fuzzy feeling?

There.. I just doubled the membership :D

I dont drive like a tool.

And I am no longer part of the fabia crew :(

But i joined the group anyway lol

No huge disrespect intended lads but you are either antagonising carefree or proving his point, either way lets keep this OT.

Don't appologise and just go then if that's how you feel.

Or alternativley just don't open/read the 'My vRS beat a McLaren F1' threads and instead ignore them.

The options are simple.

To be honest I don't think that "my vrs beat a xxx" threads gain respect from anyone on here. Since I've been here I've always felt that the member base is more mature than the kind of people who race off from every traffic light, etc. Yes, occasionally we all give in to temptation and can't resist showing people that the car is better than what they are driving in terms of acceleration, but I wouldn't say that it is a major problem on this forum :)

I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way about the community but I hope that, rather than you having to leave, the few people that your comments may apply to take note and try to change their ways :)

Iam on Briskoda nearly everyday and i don,t read any of these threads because i never see any.Everybody here is always talking about speed and the way they drive at "Track" events or the "Ring" not on public highways.

Oh yes also on there "Private test tracks"

So there
