Maybe I should go....

Featured Replies

Having been an on/off regular here since 2004, using the site for advice/hints and reference I have become increasingly cocerned with the way this site seems to be heading.

Why?

I'm reading more and more 'My vRS beat a McLaren F1' type threads these days from people who seem to think it clever to drive like idiots on public roads, just so they can lie to thier mates in the pub about how good they are at driving and how fast thier car is.

Now, I use speed when it suits for overtaking etc and if I see a kn0b in a saxo at traffic lights revving his engine I purposely let him 'beat' me off the line, I frankly find it embarrassing that us guys think that we turn into sex gods just by beating a car off or to the line. Get a grip.

Now, each to his own, you carry on embarrassing yourselves BUT when me and my colleagues up and down the country are called out to cut you free (if you are not already dead) DONT complain that it hurts, because quite frankly we dont want to hear it.

Too many times I've seen people dead in the road/wreck to even have the slightest bit of sympathy for the kn0bhead who somehow survived and is still alive.

So, carry on boasting that you beat this and that, im sure someone is interested, but not me.

Rant over, and I ain't apologising.

Hi Carefree,

Don't go from here, as I am sure that you will be missing the good things too.

You will always be reading of the exploits of the boy racers, on the forums like this one, as on any other one, and this is because they are still the young ones and have much to learn. We were, as them at one time here.

I know what you are refering to here, as we have all been at the traffic stop light and a 'spiky haired crap head', or 'goofey capped wonder guy' is looking across at one, while he will be revving the engine, and he his holding the steering wheel that is no bigger than the shirt button.

These people are not significant for me, and I am not so bothered by them, and I was having a young man speeding past me one time, then doing a handbrake turn in the road in front of me, and then facing my car. This made not a difference to me and I ignored it totally.

I think that if you are watching the programme called police camera action then this is a normal thing, and is not only with this forum. No one is blaming you for having the rant, here but there is more in life than this , I think.

Talking of Police Camera Action, one of my favourite programs on the tellybox is Road Wars. It's really made me respect the police, but then again you'd hope it would as you're watching pretty much the most well trained police traffic unit in the UK do their job :)

but how often do you see a marked unit floating around, we need more visable policing as a deterent in the first place.

I was recently sent a crime survery and they asked what I thought should be done with regards to road saftey. I said it may be a good idea to reduce teh number of attempts to catch people speeding, and to instead increase patrol car presence all over the county as a deterrent. We're probably singing from the same hymn book here!

Carefree ......Is that you in your avatar photo ????

this is because they are still the young ones and have much to learn.

Oi... i am young (19).

Im not a tear away.

I havnt ever crashed.

Or been in an accendent.

Bit of a generalisation.

But I do see where you are coming from.

Many "young'ns" do drive like c0cks, speed everywhere.

And think they are invinsible... until the crash their Saxo into a brick wall.

Michael.

did anyone see road wars last night the **** in the saxo (prob 1.0l) driving like a *****.. best bit was he was coming back from his mates funeral who died in a car accident 3 days earlier. the copper looked gobsmacked. id just have thrown the book at him.

Exactly, the best thing about that was that the other guys in the car heard everything that was being said. Hopefully that stern talking to will make 4 safer drivers in that area of the country :)

Last night's road wars taught me that if I want a good chance of escaping the cop's, buy a nice, powerful Audi :D

If you don't like what you read/see on TV/hear etc then don't read it/watch it/listen to it.

If you don't like what you read/see on TV/hear etc then don't read it/watch it/listen to it.

But how would you know you didn’t like it if you didn’t watch/read/listen to it first?:D

Everyone drives in a manner that could be perceived to be 'like a ****' at some time or other, be it off duty policemen/ Ambulance men or any other bugger, anyone who denies it, well thats like denying you are really a w***** on occasion (PPat out on a limb here ).

The I smoked threads I think are mainly tongue in cheek to get a bit of a bite. PS. for what its worth I smoke Old Holburn, but not in the car cos swmbo would kill me

Maybe you should start a poll.

I think you should go. Bye

My only comment is I think it is a bit harsh for the services to be having any sort of attitude towards victims of a car crash. My admiration for them has always been that they don't care if it was Hitler in the vehicle they would simply be thinking we are saving a life

No one knows at the time exactly what caused it and assumptions shouldn't be made.

Must say, I've previously expressed my dislike for the fact that there seem to be more 20" spinner / MaccyD donut boy racer types on here now, but I wouldn't want to leave. It's easy enough to ignore them or flame their stupidity, depending on how the mood takes me. And they'll exist whether you and/or they use this forum, so you don't really have anything to gain from leaving, and quote a lot to lose IMHO...

I think the rescue services are more qualified than anyone to have strong views on Kn0bs and driving as such. They do know what causes the fatal accidents usually, as they examine the scene. But what I don’t get is the venom directed at the OP, he was saying he didn’t like the tone and slight shift in the Forum as he perceived it and then added that in his professional opinion these posters are often the ones he scrapes up off the tarmac. He should know! imho.

Also the OP has said he does not care if 'Hitler:confused:' was driving the car that crashed. You are as guilty of putting words in the OPs mouth as you are when calling his professionalism into doubt.

PP (Andy) You make and honest and accurate assumption there I think. :o

i used to be a copper and i left the job partially cos of people like you (i assume you are a copper and not a fireman).

please go jump off a cliff along with the rest of the "holier than thou" brigade.

I think that's a fine example of why Briskoda isn't the place it once was.

Which part:confused::rofl::rofl:

As usual.I probably worded it badly.

Lost someone close who was young, not a 'knOb' but a passenger and innocent victim.I felt quite emotional thinking I hope that is not what the emergency services were thinking at the time.

As to the thread, yes,Briskoda has changed a lot but it has evolved. This is a similar sort of thread that people put up really for no reason. If I got peeved with say scoobynet,I would just stop visiting.

Normally I would skip over these threads but I was a bit disappointed with that comment on a personal basis

Hi micmason123,

Yes this was a bit of a generalisation here, as not all the younsters are like the c0cks, but at some time before we have all done the bad things, but the wise head happens when one becomes older. You are fortunate to have the wise head on the young shoulders, and I will say good luck to you, as you will live for a long time, I am sure.

Soviet:rolleyes::)

I cant believe this thread is still going... lol

And yeah I did see road wars. Amazing programme.

Just shows you whos out there... and how dangerous roads can be at times.

Thanks Soviet, nice to see that someone else shares my views on what is essentially law breaking.

I appreciate it:thumbup:

I dont have attitude against INNOCENT victims of rtc's, but I do against the CAUSES.

Ask any copper and they will tell you that the ****s they catch drink driving/speeding are toerags, plain and simple.

I am allowed my opinions, as are doctors that stitch up blokes on a fri/sat night after punch ups, they have no sympathy for them either.

Frankly, you carry on mocking what I have said, I'll still sleep at night in my nice warm bed, I couldn't give a flying t0ss whether you find it hilarious or not, shows you up for what you are.

I think I read on this thread that one or two are getting bored, well so am I. I have expressed what I think about kn0bs who drive like kn0bs, and nothing will make me change my mind.

Cheerio:thumbup:

In all honesty mate, I really don't think there has been an increase in the type of thread you are talking about. It may well come now that the Furby vRS and MK1 Octy vRS are heading into C H A V territory (on a price basis that is), but the mod's here do a pretty good job of keeping on top of such things.

It's a forum after all, and in my opinion one of the most diverse ones that I have ever come across and I think it's all the better for it. You are always going to get people trying to pull your leg, get a bite, it's part of the t'internet (and I thought it was just for Porn and Visordown before I came here).

If you think it's time to leave, then it's your decision to make and of course only you can make it.

You can block post's from people you don't want to read them from (maybe you are and won't get this :)), you can report posts yourself to the moderating team so everything you need is there to put a stop to the posts you are referring to.

The final thing I suppose is to close the door on the way out :) if that's what you choose.

PS It's that time of year, we have had an "I'm leaving, a Biker's and now all we need is the traditional "the mods are all crap thread" and this year on Briskoda is complete :)
