Maybe I should go....

Featured Replies

The ppl he has a go at in his OP are people who drive like idiots, not enthusiastic drivers.

But he does then go on to say he's thinking of leaving because 'those sort of people' are now an abundance on Brisky. Possibly why a few people are taking it a bit to heart? You could almost take it as him saying 'The forum is now only for kn0bs, so I don't fit in here any more'.

Now, for example, I don't like people driving like kn0bs. I doubt many people do really. But then I also see a rant solely for saying 'I may leave because of it' is a little... melodramatic perhaps? I don't like stubbing my toe or losing my wallet. But I've never thought of telling everyone on here it might be time to buy slippers or get velcro pockets?

In conclusion; I agree that people that drive like idiots aren't very smart; not much of an epiphany really. But then I also see people's points that driving enthusiastically, or being proud of the performance of your car, does not necessarily make you an idiot. 'Racing' on the road is illegal, and dangerous - yes. Pushing your car hard to make safe progress up to the speed limit however, is not. Nor does it brand you a 'kn0b'.

I wouldn't really care whether a Fireman cutting me out of my car has any sympathy for me or not, as long as they were doing their best to get me out as safely as possible. Though, again, I see people's points that it's not really fair to judge without all the facts, even if it may seem obvious.

Guess I see both sides, and am not really going to pick one. But to answer the question: Yes. Perhaps you should go. If you don't enjoy it here any more then it's probably best not to come here. However, if you do enjoy it and there's just a few niggles, then stay and ignore them. A rant is only going to make you feel better, not change anyone else. Not to say you shouldn't rant if you want to; I have plenty of times. Just don't expect a thread full of people all agreeing with you is all.

This reply was brought to you because I am bored. Please treat most of it as irrelevant. Thankyou.

very well said.

A lot of people have a rant on here and don’t get the stick he did. I honestly believe he hit a small nail on the head. It looks like he has gone, but if his words made one person think twice about driving like a kn0b then he will still have done a good thing. As Andy (PP) said, we nearly all have driven like kn0bs at some point in our lives, hopefully we have all gotton over it and lived to tell the tale.

He hasnt gone, all the "look at me" OP's will be back to see who is looking at them.

But he does then go on to say he's thinking of leaving because 'those sort of people' are now an abundance on Brisky. .

But he doesn’t, he says ”I'm reading more and more 'My vRS beat a McLaren F1' type threads these days from people who seem to think it clever to drive like idiots on public roads” he is saying it is on the increase. Plus as he later said he was having a bad day and I am guessing that a bad day means it wasn’t a pretty day.

He then says that driving quickly does not make you a kn0b if you stay within limits

He then says that driving quickly does not make you a kn0b if you stay within limits

whose limits?

speed limits? talent limits? drink drive limits? his limits?

he posted looking for trouble. and found it. mission accomplished and he has now gone for a spliff.. like most pontificating hippy types.

:)

Well I do not feel threatened by his comments and I hold my hands up and say I have driven beyond my/the cars, abilities before and have been lucky not to have had an accident. I am surprised that so many people who presumably have done the same, feel that the OP was directed at them. Perhaps they still drive regularly in that manner. Perhaps they love to try and smoke people of lights and go looking for it. The subtext in his OP as I see it, is he really doesn’t like the intent with which some young ‘thrusters’ go about their driving (the word ‘thruster’ is reproduced with kind permission of the 1980’s)

face it.. you have seen his pic and fancy him. stop defending his weird and random rant.

Bye Bye

Oh just to point out - You contradict yourself with your name. (You sir are not 'carefree')... I have been robshaw - Good night.

*Please don't feed the troll *

We aren’t really feeding the troll

And his Avatar is quite easy on the eye;) Well i think it is, as I have a 1920 x 1200 monitor and the text expander doesn't do anything for the image size. I have zoomed the page in but........i'll stop there.

But he does then go on to say he's thinking of leaving because 'those sort of people' are now an abundance on Brisky.

I'm having difficulty seeing much of a difference? Maybe that's just me? If it's on the increase, he's saying there's lots of it around, and that makes him want to leave, non? He also specifies 'my vRS vs...' threads, which alongside the [controversial] 'No Fabia vRS vs... threads' rule we have (no Octavia vRS threads mentioned) I think unintentionally targets the Fabia vRS drivers amongst the boards who from past incidents and general forum banter already get a bit defensive about that sort of thing (yes I realise the irony that he has a vRS too, but it's just an observation).

He then says that driving quickly does not make you a kn0b if you stay within limits

What he actually says is that he uses speed 'when it suits' and offers overtaking as an example. I've not seen any reference to limits, unless you count 'when it suits him' as a limit? He does then go on to state that it's not speed 'necessarily' that he has issues with, but racing on public roads. Which seems to be the gist of his overall argument, and I do agree that it's dangerous.

I get that people want to defend him, he's made a valid and good point. But I'm not sure he did it in the best possible way which is what is biting back at him now.

He mentions limits in a later post, which to be honest I can’t be ar$ed finding as I think this thread has run it’s course. I too think he had a valid point to make and perhaps worded it a little too strongly knowing that certain types would bite (I did the same with my I just burnt off a VRs thread…….in jest though). But perhaps as he said, he had just had a bad day. Perhaps he had scraped a young driver or passenger off the road. We will never know.

And that I think is that for me and this thread. I will now unsubscribe to it.

congratulations out of 20k members a whole 1 has thrown his support behind you, just like he supports the politburo.

you must be proud to be such a popular guy  pehaps you could advise gordon on how to be popular. :)

Hi Redbaron, Gordon who!

Ah the one being heckled here on the beach. I hate all of the politicians as I think you are knowing already.

I have my own politburo, who I am kicking regularly here.

Soviet:rofl::thumbup:

He did say cheerio a few posts back, I took this to mean he was leaving.

Hi your ladyship,

I am seeing this now, and so you win some and you lose some. It is good that we do not all leave, as site owner Colin would not know how to spend his spare time here.

Well said matey - I find this all very dramatic - go find something important to waste your time on - if this is all there is to worry about, you are exceptionally lucky.

Has he gone yet?
