My lovely saloon is broken

Featured Replies

Its been a bad day.

1) Bonnet flew open on the slip road to join the A14. I'd checked the oil before I set off and can't have shut it properly. Its ripped the struts off the wings, and badly dented the bonnet on both sides. Will need a replacement bonnet. icon_redface.gif

2) Traction control light has decided it wants to be permanently lit - any ideas on that one?

3) Everytime I fill up with petrol, it gets full, the pump cuts off, and then it spits half a litre of fuel out of the filler neck at me. Again, any ideas??

Also to top it off, I got my drivers door lock repair kit from BMW. Dear God it looks like the trickiest thing to build in the entire world, wish me luck on that one... icon_eek.gif

I need a beer. icon_cry.gif

BMWs arrrh, who'd have em. I know what car you should buy.......oh.

1) D'oh!

2) & 3) Warranty?

:eek::eek:

Eeek best make that a double scotch on the rocks!!!

2 could be one of the ABS sensors and 3 could be a stuck venting valve, or you need to modify your filling technique.

3 you need to withdraw before she gets full

You plank!

time for a change.

Surely there is a safety catch on the bonnet to stop it flying up even if it isnt shut.

never have this problem on the E30.... cos the bonnet opens the proper way....

Believe that was on the options list just below the indicators. :P

Not good news anyhow. Surely the under points should be covered under warranty?

Sorry to hear about your problems Tom. As mentioned, points 2 and 3 should be covered under the warranty you got from the garage.

Yeah, I'd have thought there should be a safety catch too. However I think its the first car I've had with self lifting struts, so I probably just dropped the bonnet and it didn't catch at all. Serves me right for rushing round at 6am :( It seems bonnets are cheap as chips, think I can source one for around £30 collected, so not the end of the world.

I'll persue the traction control under the warranty. As for the fuel filler though, I'll check myself for a blocked pipe, but if not then I'll just be extra careful when I hear it getting full.

Ah well, love the car otherwise though!

Epic fail = on topic

How can I argue with that?

RESULT! Theres a little connector in the engine bay which had popped off of the ASR module, popped it back on and all is well with the traction control!!! Easiest fix ever!!!! :D
