hehehehehe

good result

Shame they wasn't driven by real drivers - still it won!

Typical audience reaction 'Mini will win'! Ha. Not a great deal in it though.

Yeh saw that too, that was great to watch :D. Pulls away fast at straight lines :D. Definitely needs better brakes and suspension :P. Diesel all the way :).

Skoda Wins :D

The Fabia does need better brakes.

Watch this space, I'll shortly post the video clip for those who either missed it, or those in foreign parts who could not watch it in the first place.

I love Top Gear -

With better brakes and suspension and the result would have been better.

Big Up Skoda

I was hoping someone tapped it. Anychance of the maserati drive as well?

The track was wet, so being honest what else did they expect with the cornering grip?

Me, you can keep the Fabia, I want the Maseratti Quattroporte, but then its old news as I have already seen 2 in the flesh in town....simply gorgeous.

how many more good reviews do we need to show others how good our little car is ?!!!

yes it needs better brakes and suspension to be a better 'track' car but surely now we can justifiably say that our car feels as quick as other hot hatches at least on the straight and imo better than a lot of them in EVERDAY driving.

i bet there'll be be a few posts in the next few days from robmawer!!

evening rob btw :)

Fabia Vrs 2 mini cooper 0!

Manny

Post the TG vid on the Mini site when complete

ok, heres the top gear clip. I have 2 files, they are avi files recorded on my archos av380.

Links removed, if you would like a 3MB low quality version send me a PM and I'll send via email.

I cant seem to get them any smaller, also dont all download it at once. My 128K ntl bandwidth is not the best in the world.

I suggest you use right click > save as, or use something like getright to download.

I'm impressed that you got these files on line so quick.

Ye very impressed Manny.

Think I'll wait till tomorrow before I download it. Got a feeling its going to be very busy tonight.

also dont all download it at once.

yeah , like we all won't try to get it asap!! can't see an orderly queue forming personally! maybe a central posting would be better, let briskoda servers take the strain.

I see theres a few downloading right now, if its slow sorry not a lot I can do, you could try again later.

Where's Q when you need him.

If your having trouble try right click "save target as", and play from your computer once downloaded.

Think i will download later in the morning lol

Yeah, I was well impressed too. It understeered like mad and had no brakes - and still it won! So what gap if some small money is spent on proper suspension and brakes?

And a remap? :D

Had a mate phone me about this and telling me to get my backside to a TV! Needless to say, I wasn't anywhere near a TV, so big thanks to you Manny. Shall try and download it tonight, if not, I'll wait till the morning. :D

Another "Fabia faster on track" review...

again hardly a fair comparison...

Ah, but there is a snag to this comparison when done here in Holland.

The Cooper is a whopping 4,330 euros - i.e. three grand! - cheaper than the vRS.

Them Skodas - expensive stuff. :D

So how about a more honest Dutch comparison?

Fab vRS, now chipped to 160hp, coilovers and better brakes all-round at 2,670 euros additional cost, against 163hp Mini Cooper S, which is 2,670 euros more expensive than a standard vRS... Which one would win?

A standard vRS would keep a cooper S honest in pure straight line performance... so with chip + suspension and brakes it would kill it :)
