Rear ARB ?

Featured Replies

^ You cant other than via snobbery.

However there was some semi-scientific reasoning behind the Jabba bar in another thread - apparantly its 90x stiffer or something - but is that such a good thing especially for a novice....

I have the Whiteline one, Have been on track a few times and its spot on for both road & track :D I don't think anyone will be able to say which is better unless they've tried both on the same car on the same road. Personally the £100 saving towards other mods and the "Adjustability" swong it for me

cool il get on the phone for a whiteline 2moro then. thanks for the help ppl

Thickness is not the only factor that determines the 'stiffness' of an anti roll bar. There are several other factors, but the main one is the overall length of the ARB. The shorter the ARB, the 'stiffer' it is.

Now, we all know that our cars benefit greatly with increased roll resistance at the back. But you can go too far. When too much roll resistance is introduced, the car will become very tail happy.

I find that with the adjustability of the Whiteline ARB, I can have my cake and eat it. Soft for road use. Plenty of grip and a small amount of lift off oversteer if needed. Set it on hard for track use and use the lift off oversteer to get round corners quicker.

As the adjustment only takes a few minutes with 2 spanners, it really makes for a great modification for both road and track.

I have never tried the other make, but the Whiteline ARB set on full hard seems to me about as far as you want to go with regards to roll stiffness. Because of the extra parts that Whiteline supplies for the adjustability the pricing should really be the other way round :-) Mind you, I spent an extra £70 to change the standard Whiteline droplinks that come with their ARB to fancy adjustable, rose jointed links.

seems this is an essential mod ?

my days of modding cars are over, however i will be lowering my Fabia slightly and that was my only plan really, leave everything else alone, when i test drove the car im buying one thing i did notice was that you had to slow down a LOT for roundabouts, but, if i do get a RARB i dont want it to be so stiff that the back end comes out, if one is adjustable how would i know how much is too much ?

Hi

I must admit , I have been told to put my rear ARB on to the hardest setting as I have the front one on too

So next service , I will get that done

I go over Woodhead pass every day to get to and from work

It is amazing!!!!

As someone said on the Seat forum , the back end just follows the front :D

Bless him , technical talk you know

But it does do just that

Amazing

As with me , I think it will trial and error with the settings , and I must admit surly , it cannot get any better?

I must admit , we have just had a very very large delivery of them , they are selling fast

At the moment we have 9 in stock , also they are having to go up in price soon

What sort of addition to the insurance would be typical for one of these?

When I had mine it was free with Admiral, just paid for a new insurance certificate to be issued.

Wicked. Looking forward to seeing the photos of it on it's roof!

lol are they that bad ?......even lowered ?

My 2nd hand Jabba bar arrived this week so looking forward to it being fitted next Saturday. Started prepping it this morning - stripped off all the loose paint and rubbed it all down. Now has one coat of metal primer on with the black satin hammerite waiting to go on later!

Will post thoughts re improved handling (I hope!) after its fitted.

Whiteline might make you up a bigger one?

Contact them.

I'll have one of these - can you keep one on one side for me until Tuesday? I'll phone up and pay for it in the morning!

the "Adjustability" swong it for me

Why make it adjustable when it could be made rite first time :D

Whiteline for show, Jabba for a pro!

The Jabba bar I would say is for the more discerning driver while the whiteline although perfectly functional is not as stiff. With the jabba bar and Eibachs you can get the VRS balanced perfectly to the point it will actually drift if you so wish. In fact, this is how stiff the Jabba bar is....

However your only going to notice the "extra functionallity" if your tracking or on a mission, I doubt most people will really notice it at all. (I really miss that car....)

You get what you pay for IMHO. If you want the performance, go Jabba. If you want something to make your commute a little more fun, just get the whiteline.

I was hugely sceptical when investigating this as my modding previously extended all the way to a new stero and remap.

Since i was travelling about 3 hours up to Jabba for their (TOP QUALITY!) remap anyways i took the plunge and had them fit a RARB too.

OMG!!

Seriosly i had no idea it would make such a difference. The lessened body roll and the higher levels of grip make every twisty road fun. It doesn't even have to be a quick road slow speed stuff is so much better giventhe better responses.

As it was only fitted 4 days after i picked up my Fabia and didn't really get chance to drive it in anger i can't really compare it to standard; however against my previous Seat Ibiza TDi Sport the difference is HUGE!

Not a particulary useful post in the Whiteline V Jabba arguement but either one and you'll be v pleased! (and maybe if i keep praising Jabba enough they chuck me a free set of Koni's!)

Have the Jabbasport one with KW springs, certainly makes a huge difference.

Mind you, I spent an extra £70 to change the standard Whiteline droplinks that come with their ARB to fancy adjustable, rose jointed links.

Where did you buy these? Does it do anything for the ARB? I have the Whiteline myself on my Fabia2 and love it....

Jabba one all the way. The whiteline one looks too puny. I have had a Jabba one on for .... well since time began, and it's still one of the best mods I did. In fact my car is pictured on the site :)

Must have taken you ages to write that review that's on their site.....;)

It's green' date=' and it's f***in double awesome (Shifty @Briskoda)

Had a Jabba bar fitted yesterday and initial signs seem very good. Not had a 'proper' drive yet as it was so wet yesterday so plan to go out later and see. Was quick and easy to fit and the guys at APD said it went on a treat.

took my jabba arb off,car now seems to brake away less under heavy cornering when the diff kicks in,but the kws sort the body control out perfectly

I have the JabbaSport bar on mine. It was fitted at the same time as Eibachs and FSDs and I really have no idea what the effect of fitting them independently would be, but the handling was a revelation. The Koni's are definitely responsible for the good ride, but lowering the car and making it stiffer undoubtedly improve the ability to go quickly through corners without moving the box of tissues on the back shelf. The JabbaSport bar is £100 more than the Whiteline, but it's been developed by people in the UK who are supporting us by bringing out parts for our cars. As far as I know Whiteline don't make an EGR bypass valve and neither will Jabba anymore if they're not supported.

There is no doubt that Awesome are cheaper for almost everything than JabbaSport (even after the Briskoda discount is deducted) and they'll doubtless see an order in the near future for some Passat AP Coilovers, but JabbaSport are a lot more than just a retailer in my opinion, and they deserve to be supported in their developments.

If you can afford the JabbaSport bar, then it's the one to have in my opinion.

And I'm reliably informed that although the RARBs do indeed make the car corner flatter, they do also increase the risk of the back end snapping out uncontrollably when it reaches the limit of grip. And because the car doesn't seem to be cornering so hard, it's harder to detect when you are approaching the limit of the available grip. Scared the living bejesus out of the person concerned:D

I'm not sure I'd want to try a rear ARB with standard suspension. The weight transfer to the front under braking is bad. My car used to feel like it was rotating. Front goes down, rear goes up. Add a rear ARB that loads the rear outside tyre more and the very last thing you want to consider is having to brake in mid-corner.

I had the suspension done, then the RARB maybe 6-10 months later.

The Eibach suspension sorted out the general handling. Reduced body roll, car now squats slightly under braking. Traction out of junctions and slow corners was improved.

The Jabba RARB greatly helps the rear end. Even after the suspension, it noticably helps to balance the car. In addition, the car corners flatter and the rear end doesn't sag when you hoof it. Junctions and slow corner traction improved again.

Assuming the suspension has been "done" and you're running Eibachs or coilovers. My recommendation is to fit a RARB. IMO either RARB option will be a tremendous improvement over not having one.

RARB is fine on standard springs and shocks
