Removing dead bugs

Featured Replies

What cleaning products would people recommend for removing squashed bugs from the lights, grill, mirrors, bonnet and windscreen... Preferably one product that will remove bugs from all these surfaces.

Strangly the Furby seems to attract more squashed bugs than any other car I have ever driven, although this may be speed related ;)

Cheers

Dave

I use a Supraguard bug sponge.

Works well even on baked on bugs. You can purchase bug sponges from Halfords.

i have a carplan bug sponge, but im a bit worried about it damaging the paint, are these things safe?

The turtle wax wipes the come in a tube are brilliant, not much rubbing needed.

Thanks for your suggestions guys

Sure if Geoff (Monkeyhanger) was around he would recommend plenty of Vim a rusty Brillo Pad and maybe some Nitromors just to make sure all the bugs are gone ;)

I'll get mi coat

Right off to Halfords

Swissol the car, and then when you wash it the bugs go with the initial rinsing.

Meguires Lambs-Wool Wash Mit has a gauze type thing on the back of it that very easilly gets rid of squashed bugs etc...

And it makes a really good job of washing the rest of your car (on the lambswool side!)

Dave,

Without a coat of wax, my best advice is to keep running water over them until you have softened them enough to rub off easily. If you try with anything else you will most likely scratch the paint. A good coat of any wax will then at least give you some protection.

I use Swissol across the whole of the front of the car (including the headlamps), the 'A' pillars, front of the roof and the door mirrors after every wash. A "full frontal" as I like to call it :D :D

The turtle wax bug wipes are quick and easy and won't damage the finish on the car, I think they are great if you are at a cruise and have collected some bugs on the way :-)
