Anyone thinking of changing their car this year

Featured Replies

Happy New Year everyone, anybody thinking of changing their cars this year. I have heard there is going to be some great deals around between january and may because of the economy.

I want to have a change but feel i am attached to the Mk1 Octy

I would like a Subaru Legacy Outback but finances will not allow at the moment. Ho hum.

I did something really stupid. I told myself that if I got my promotion sorted I would buy myself a new car, now I feel I must do it. The car will be three in March, so it feels like a good idea, but who knows? I need to find something that completely floats my boat first.

It's going to be good if you have cash as most dealers need to do a deal.

If you have a px then your not going to be very happy with the offer you get.

I'm tempted to buy a new/ex demo car this year, but it will all depend on my finances in september/october. Right now i'd love to, but it isn't worth it.

I know what you mean mate

I'm sticking with the fabia for a while I think, otherwise the money I spent on a leather retrim and cruise control retrofit is completely wasted, especially given the current state of the used car market.

I might buy a second car for track days though...

Going to get a Octy 2 2.0 Elegance DSG next week I hope!

I know that I my P/ex price on my Ibiza probably wont break 5K, but if it does I will be happy.

Trying to source a good Mk 1 Cortina to replace the Morris Traveller. The VRS LE is staying with me though :D

wouldn't mind, but as my trip to work might be changing from a 3ish mile round trip to about 50 miles each way I could well end up with a poxy diesel :thumbdwn:

yeh .. i'll probably buy something fun to go alongside the mondeo which I purchased in place of my fabia vrs se after moving house a year ago.

At the moment I'm keen on the mkvi golf gti which will arrive in the summer although there's a 10% chance i'll opt for the cheaper octavia instead. That would be a little silly if I'm going to run the mondeo alongside it though.

I was thinking about a Megane R26 F1. I popped into my local Renault dealer for a laugh. That laugh has now turned into something a bit more serious. I was offered 10K for my 07 Clio:eek:, I was expecting more like 8K.

Thought i'd proper take the pee and ask for another grand off the price of the Megane. Unfortunately Christmas put a stop to the proceedings and the dealers had to close for the holidays. I'm hoping for a phone call on Friday.

I changed in late October and got a REALLY good px offer on my ST, I wouldn't of got anywhere near as much from a private sale. So there are some really good deals to be had. :D

emmas swift may be going this year,to be replaced by a mk5 golf gti edition 30,but shes not made hermind up yet.

i cant for a few more years yet, but im liking the atthawotsit grey that the vrs is in ;)

Happy new year folks!

In regards to changing the car, not this year, got to have the Fabia for at least another year and a half to pay off the finance on it. Got to admit this car has been the best that I have owned and won't be my last Skoda, normally I change my cars every year and a half but not this time round.

If I'm going to change I've got to admit it will be a slower Skoda ie a roomster scout diesel or a Fabia 2 estate.

Currently got a 54 plate Octy (reg Feb 2005) Elegance 19.tdi with full leather, sports suspension 17" pegasus alloys and sat nav.(only done 27k miles). Was offered £5000 as part ex against a 57 plate Octy similar spec with DSG so would cost me £6200 to change. I can't make my mind up as in Feb mine is due service + timing belt so that will be approx £600. Decisions, decisions....

Im just about to leave for a Mk5 Golf 4Motion TDi Test drive.

Nice.

Have to get rid of wifes Mazda 5 in May and I may give her my vRS and I'll look at a new BMW 330d Touring. We already have two people interested in her car, so we may be cash buyers :D

Alternativily, we could keep the Mazda for another year (though that might not be a cheap option), sell it and buy something cheap that my son could also learn to drive in or get her 4x4 that could tow a horsebox  Choices, choices . . .

Ordered my Mk2 Octi vRS Tdi about 2 hours ago. Can't wait till the end of the month :D

maybe changing our 52 reg Focus this year, but it won't be new, or anything close.

Mines not due to be changed for another 20 months or so, unless I can do enough miles to justify palming it off on to a lower mileage colleague. However the GF Fester is three in September and currently has no finance on it, the big question is something new and similar (Ibiza) or something a bit older and flasher (Audi A4 2.5 TDi Cabriolet! :) )

I see you have good taste in cars :)

A 330d would do me, or a Z4 :) Choices, Choices

New Ibiza SC, or new Polo possibly! 6 months time possibly!

Nope, vRS only has 76k on it and I won't be getting rid of it as I only want a small car and I don't ,like the new Fabia, so this one is here to stay....at least for the next 2 years.
