Need for speed!

Remap, comp exhaust, brakes, suspension cotton filter..well what's next?

What more can be done to get this Furby to go even quicker without breaking it and the bank balance too?

Loose some of my 15st bulk p'raps?

Yeah, weight loss is the cheapest way. Replace the spare wheel with TyreWeld, remove all un-needed seats, remove as much acoustic padding as you can find, remove a lot of the trim, etc.

Or yank up the fuelling and screw some NOS on it... :D

Rob.

Sand the paint off?

replace windows with plastic

Put in a 1.8T?

Think the next stage would be a hybrid turbo from turbo technics. But then it'll need a remap to adjust the boost. Or could go for the front mounted intercooler of a Ibiza Cupra PD160 to help control intake temps. Could go NOS route. But what about the standard cluch? Will it melt?

Cheaper option. Loose some weight. Tyre weld. Not rear seats, lightweight front seats.

Put in a 1.8T?

I keep sayin to john that that would be a class idea :D:thumbup:

Why?

would need about 250+bhp to pull away from a chipped TDi.

even then would still get spanked by an octy over 100mph

But it would weigh considerably less with a lighter powerplant in it...

which model is that.... only 25kg difference for the ibiza cupras.

but seat says that the ibiza weights 1650kg? that cant be right!!!

Rob.

it would weigh considerably less with me in it, instead of CJ :D

About 40kg actualy

CJ can we come up with some sort of weight sharing scheme.

Jonno(super lightweight)

it would weigh considerably less with me in it, instead of CJ :D

Was reading a stat somewhere last week about how much being overweight would cost you in terms of increased fuel consumption...hmm, now where was it...

Rob.

Think i read that too.......

Woudn't call 15st a huge amount.......

My Octy used to have to cope with a whacking 22st...

Much more svelte 19st now......

Wonder if someone can produce a fuel consumption/weight calculator as an incentive.........

Oh, thats why i get 100mpg :D

FR model.

According to some Australian site, an increase of 50kg gives a 2% increase in fuel consumption.

So if we assume it's linear, then 1kg = 0.04%.

22st -> 19st is a loss of 3st, which is around 19kg.

So net decrease in fuel consumption would be around 0.76%.

So if you were averaging 30mpg before, you'll now be averaging 30.228mpg.

Over a year's motoring (assumed at 15k miles), your fuel usage will have decreased from 500 gallons to 496 gallons. Saving you, by my reckoning, about

Every 5kg of sprung weight saved is the equivalent of 1bhp extra.

Every 2.5kg of unsprung weight is the equivalent of 1bhp extra

Drive counts as sprung regardless of how well padded their posterior is :D

Driver training would be my option, best part is that it is a mod that is transferable between cars :D

Losing weight has got to be the best/cheapest route to take. Trouble is I'm a bit of a cake n bun monster! Don't drink much though,so wouldn't one cancel out the other? pie in the sky hopefull type of voice!! :D

New engine.. 1.8T, new turbo, perspex windows, lightweight seats, rip the interior out?!

No I don't think so...

I think young Mr Clarke is the best man to talk to about extracting max power from the wee beastie ;)

Ahhh i have that problem' date=' but throw in burgers and curries as well and my ultimate downfall...biscuits :D

Back on subject i would go for a bigger turbo and maybe NOS [/quote']

Bigger turbo = more stress on vital engine parts? pistons cam etc.?

NOS can be a very quick way to destroy your engine apparently. Also over

and maybe NOS

Well then, you're certifiable. Huck will be along shortly to section you. Online. The great new sevice from NHS Direct!
