  • I've got just the thing you need for your engine, looks like your inlet manifold is a 50mm jobbie. In which case, how about this to bling up the engine? Smoothed and chrome plated, very nice, wa

Well wheels dropped off at the powder coaters should be ready on wednesday.

Picked up new rear engine and gearbox mounts along with new water pump.

Bay is mostly ready for primer now. Going to colour code the brake servo as well now. New parts from VW ordered and with 30% discount it's still £255. Quite a lot of parts no longer available.

I'd hate to see the full bill for this!

Should in theory keep most of its value though :)

While i was waiting for the primer to dry on some of the bay i started to some other bits.

Got my spare drivers side dash under tray and cut a couple of holes in it to see if i could mount my stealth stereo install.

Managed to get both the eq and the volume control in the service documents slot.

Very slight stretch on the front but a bit more on the rear.

P1000836.jpg

Cleaned and waxed one up and shines in the sun.

P1000835.jpg

Shows the quality on Daz's work on the wheels. Hardly any balance weights needed and the centre one didn't need any.

P1000837.jpg

Golf was in the spray booth last night as well but need a bit of time for my fingers to rest from all the sanding lol.

Wheels look top quality!!!

Lets just hope i didn't go to wide on the back lol. I can see a lot of work needed on those rear arch's and arch trims. Only problem now i am doing the bodywork myself i can only blame myself. Still i do have a grinder for such problems.

After a late night last night the bay is now a nice shade of white. Will finish off the servo and bonnet hinges tonight. Trying to get the truck over the weekend to get it back home.

Sorted out my engine bay wiring looms today as the cloth tape had mostly come off.

All layed out ready to go

P1000840.jpg

As soon as you touched the loom the tape was falling off.

P1000841.jpg

Power and lighting loom all cleaned and cloth tape put on.

Come out better than i thought it would.

Think you got the width/offset/stretch/arch combo perfect at the back mate!

Just needs more lower ;)

Wheels were a bit of a calculation and guess but will fit a lot better once it's dropped. Should go lower once i start to put stuff back in. Will be going for coilovers once it's back together.

Try to get most of the floor sound deadened so i can start fitting some of the interior. Just hope the weather is ok this week.

Looks like great progress mate and it's coming together nicely.......

Wheels look spot on........

First class it has to be said. Wheels are going to be just perfect I'm sure!

Started to put things back together today.

Floor cleaned and one layer of sound deadening then one of thick underlay to replace the old rotten stuff.

P1000854.jpg

Sound deadened the rear suspension turrets and boot floor. Not putting the foam boot trims in as got a set of carpet trims from an older mk2. Took a lot of cleaning to remove the dog hair but came up mint.

P1000855.jpg

Rear carpet section cleaned up and fitted.

P1000856.jpg

Installed JBL rear speakers into the factory locations.

Removed the lock mech for the petrol flap and just need to convert it from air to electric operation.
