Best i got is 655 miles to a full tank,

most of the time i average 450-550 though.

I dont trust the computer, it lies :)

when i drive i get 45-48mph but put my learner wife in the hotseat and she getts 60+ no probs lol

I got 59.3mpg out of my Superb CR170 last weekend , just tried the keep the engine at around 2000rpm and look as far as possible ahead the car has only done 1000 miles so i expect this to improve , need to to a decent run so i can do a tank to tank comparison

My mum has a Fab VRS and averages around 48mpg day to day going up to high50's low 60's at motorway speeds again keeping to 2000-2500 rpm and whilst in most cases the displays arent accurate no car is and as a comparison they are perfectly valid

i got just under 600 miles to a tank the other week, drove from north london to newcastle and back, was quite impressed!

on the way up i was driving like my nan and got an average mpg in the high 60's

anyone done more, be interesting to read

On a recent trip down to Cumbria, I was getting about 64mpg, over the month I'm returning about 52-53mpg with mixed driving involving town and a roads, my real test is taking the car down to slough/reading in the next week via the brisky camping trip at billing to see what sort of miles I'm going to return.

Recently running a tuning box and millers fuel additive on my long trips, so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Some tuning boxes with throw your cars mpg reading out by miles as they simply manipulate data to increase fuel pressure the car thinks its using far less fuel that it actually is .

Just for the record, (52) Fabia estate 1.9TDI 82k on the clock.

I put £44 in the tank last week at 99.9p/lt (Morrisons) the computer said I had 15 miles left before I put it in, I have now done 564miles and have 35m left in the tank.

My trip says I have averaged 58.2 since filling up. My calculations say 60mpg

My driving is split between town and country, trip from Perth to Tyndrum (60m each way) today computer said average was about 63mpg going and 74.6mpg coming back. Best ever.

Probably average about 48mpg on short runs round town

Noticed improvement in mpg with warmer weather.

Fantastic car.

220 mile trip (A1M for 90 miles) - 57 Mpg one way driving quite steady, no hard acceleration.

62 the other way with foot to the floor when accelerating. Both journeys felt similar in terms of traffic conditions... not sure i always agree with the trip computer but can't complain with either value!

This is only from the computer so goodness knows how accurate it is but did Chesterfield - Leicester - Swadlincote - Matlock and the readout was 68 mpg. Didn't push it by any means but wasn't a constant 56 mph either.

I think either versions of the 1.9 TDI are any more economical on mpg but ive only had 2 PD 100 cars both estates and usually only get 55mpg on my trip comp up to 30k and once i was past the 30k service on the old car (04 plate comfort) i was getting just under 60mpg will have to see what my 57 plate fabia gets after its 30k service.....

  • 2 weeks later...

Well had a shock today. Managed to get 58MPG going to work which is 22miles of motorway, a road and b roads. Now I wasn't trying to get this infact I only decided to check what I was getting near the end of my journey.

Beats the 2.4 TDI Alfa we've currently got which struggles to get 30MPG.
