I emailed the guy this morning to remind him about us when he comes back from holiday...

Okay, the guy's back from holiday and he's asking if those of us with vagcom (anyone?) can have a look at the following in the search for the missing oil temperature datablock...

have a look at block 50 of the instrument cluster, position 2, with vag com to see what is shown on their cars.

If anyone's got vagcom and can do this, please post your results here and I'll pass them on.

I've got VAG-COM, will give it a go tonight and see.

Would the discount be available on a Octavia vRS with vent? ( £210 on website )

is immensly interesting - they're also seeing the -60oC readings...

So, how shall we move this forward?

- do we wait for him to get to the bottom of whether or not oil temperature sensing is possible?

- do we wait for the project box casing to be available?

- do we push forward with the current product?

well personally the oil temp isnt a problem for me, if it can be made work at a later date thats even better.

Im not keen on the project box mount would much prefer a vent mount

I'm told it is possible to update the software in the units (i.e. if they can make oil temperature work), but this requires the units to be sent back - it's not something you would be able to do yourself...

If vag-com can't see the oil temp them the the liquid will not see it either, so for the time being I will not look at this any further.

I will ask Steve at SWG the manufacturer of the plastics to comment here on any progress on that.

It displays and clears engine trouble codes.

So as it clears error codes then I would be intrested but it all depends on costs.

No it's still not stopped....sorry was away last week on hols.....will follow up with swg and see how the development of the vent mount is comin along.
