Just talking to Steve at SWG there and he said the price would be £209.95 including delivery. Discount would depend on the amount of people interested.

Ok im going to go for this!

How long before it could be delivered?

How do i need to pay?

£210 doesn't seem like a great deal, tbh.

You could buy the kit for £170 and a centre vent assembly from Skoda for £30. Then fabricate your own mounting plate.

Is the £210 without the need to provide the "exchange" vent for them to modify?

On my Leon you don't get a whole vent, you have to remove the vanes of the vent then insert the gauge (in it's mount) into the now empty carcass of the vent.

i'm still interested

Great video of it running here:

YouTube - racediagnostics's Channel

Running on 1.9TDI

When he runs through the menus you can hear him mention that oil temp isn't available.

At 2:45ish he shows the "four variables at once" display which used to have oil temp at the far right and would crash out when tested on my car... Looks like he's updated the software.

FYI oil temp works on my 2001 Leon, is quite scary just how long it takes to get to 80 deg.

I'm still interested in the drivers side mount. Anything is better than nothing!

What's happening wit this?

In fact, having just watched this:

it's the one I would go for due to the datalogging function. But I haven't got an iPhone or $249 dollars for the hardware and $?? for the app...

I did get a card from a company with the above application, but in a 'sat nav' style case. Meaning it could be unplugged and not left on display for theft reasons, and also meant you could switch between cars aslong as they have a OBDII port? Thought it was pretty good, for those reasons and tbh the bigger screen made it easier to view..

If a few of you are still interested, I will contact them as I got the Directors e-mail/contact after he saw the car down at Pod ;)

Well, I'm picking up my liquidgauge tomorrow.

Thought about the options and the limitations of the device, and it still seemed like the best one.

I would love something that does data logging, though. Personally, I think the Creative Zii will be a great (and comparatively cheap) development platform of this kind of application...

If you can excuse the lego, string and duct tape mounting solution for the moment, here it is:

After a quick play, I think it's a bit of gimmick, but a fun one!

There are a couple of rough edges in the software that surprise me a little.

I'll try to put review of some kind up at the weekend; maybe see if I can sort out some video.

Are there any features you guys specifically want to see in action?

First run out with it this morning.

Not impressed that it lost communication when i tried to change the display and nothing would work until it powered itself down (thinking the car was off) and I restarted it.

However, on the restart I did manage this:

Note the peak power in the top right of the display. This was on a damp road, with traction on and not much road space. Standard car!

Sorry guys I've kind of given up on this. I've just put a deposit on a house so money is tight and racediagnostics don't seem interested in helping/giving any kind of discount for a group buy. Sorry

Guys, I do group buys on standard products, but this vent does not exist yet, Steve at SWG said that he would offer a discount depending on how many people wanted one.

I don't want you to get the impression that I am not interested, the reverse is true.

If some of you can still get a few people interested I will buy an additional ten units from SWG to get this off rthe ground.

Cheers

Jim

The hp figure wasn't a fluke! (bottom right of the screen this time...)

Lets see a dyno run.

Lets see a dyno run.

I'll try to get one done - it will probably be later in the week - requires a thoroughly warmed engine and quiet, level and straight roads - not easy to find in these parts!

I was thinking that it would be a pain to have to switch to diesel each time the unit is plugged in, we can meet up at some point to set the default to diesel rather than petrol.

Jim

That might be good. Although I will be plumbing it in permanently like most people will do - eventually - I have plans...

One question - I'm having trouble getting it to plot a dyno plot.

I've read the instructions and I'm not really following. Do I just run through the rev range in a single gear - in 3rd from a rolling start, as the instructions seem to suggest? I tried some plots evening doing standing starts going up through the gears, and it just seems to get confused; drawing some very odd plots and basically giving up.

The "fun" I've had tonight trying to find a suitable section of road. All my "private" roads in this part of the world are somewhat busy!

The best way is in 3rd gear, with the revs at 1krpm, foot light on the gas, then select dyno, continue as before for a few seconds, then, as soon as the digits apear in the bhp/torque value boxes, put your foot to the floor as quickly as possible and then hold to the red line.

You can see me do it at then end of this video.

Before starting select the most appropriate scale for your bhp and torque from the gauge displays.

Okay - updates:

max torque figure - produced on the motorway:
