Rear Tdi Badge

Featured Replies

Does anybody know the meaning of the rear TDI badge existing in the following variants....

TDI - All Letters in Black

TDI - Only I in Red...Rest is in Black

TDI - Only T in Black...Rest is in Red

I'm just curious :P

Thanks

I will assume: All in black:90 bhp

Red i :110 bhp

Red di : PD engine

Tho i stand to be corrected , and if this is correct , im assuming the 150 PD has a red 'TDI'???

Depends on the model of car doesn't it ? Generally speaking the more the red, the more the power.

eg On The Golf you the all red T, D, I is 150bhp.

I believe it works for the entire VAG range...

TDI = 90

TDI = 110

TDI = 130

TDI = 150

Now, what does the blue I mean on the VW Transporter TDI? Or is it different colour, same meaning?

On an aesthetic note - I find VW's V5, V6 and 4motion logos ghastly to look at, probably because they have the paint acting as a direct background, making the Vs and the motion unreadable with most dark colours.

The silver bar supporting the 4X4 turbo logo, however - beautiful... :D

TDI is 90bhp version

TDI is 110bhp version

TDI is (any) PD version.

Well this used to be the case with VW Golfs and Passats as well but I have seen some 150PD motors with TDI some with TDI.

I removed the skoda TDi badge from the back of mine and put the VW style badge on (see attached) since remove it again, so now its "de-badged"

However, now for some reason I have every other car sitting on my boot! :mad:

Weird, but with the TDI badge everyone seemed to keep their distance. Also experimented with TDI from the 3l Lupo as well!

Might fit a 1.2 badge for a laugh! :D

I briefly considered going completely stealth and remove the vRS logos from the front and back as not to draw any attention to the car (always wary of people who like to break other peoples precious stuff). Am not so sure anymore though... quite like the subtle indicator that it is 'special' :D

Q.

It has some other less subtle indicators too, you know... :D

But I agree, I've decided to proudly wear the 4x4 turbo badge. It's only fair, and gives some explanation as to why you were beaten!

  • 5 months later...

On My Seat Ibiza TDi Sport PD (130bhp)

I have TDi

The 100BHP Version has TDi so I understand.

I think other Seat cars follow suit

I have seen Polos running round with TDi but I know they dont have a 130bhp motor in them.

I suspect this is the three cylinder diesel motor (75bhp I think)

Any Other Information?? :confused:

The blue I on the transporters denotes that although the engine is a 2.5tdi, because I think they dont have an intercooler they only produce 88hp as opposed to the 102 of the normal 2.5 tdi.

Hmmm - What does everyone reckon I should do to my TDI badge once I'm Jabba'd. I'm either going to remove it entirely and go stealth (but I'm worried about boot-clingers) or stick some badge from a less powerful Fabia, which of course no vRS owners have EVER done before. :rolleyes:

I've yet to make my mind up TBH, so any thoughts would be cool.

:cheers:

Im tempted to put a TDI badge on my vRS.. its either that or let the soot do the talking.. or maybe some subtle badges on the wings? hmmm :rolleyes:

Jason, maybe a 1.9 SDi badge?!

I like the clean lines of the complete de-badge on mine.

Also experimented with the green badge from the Lupo 3l as it matched the Skoda badge and the red one like the one on the engine cover.

Its so easy to hit that button twice! :o

SDI badge, hmm. Bet I'd have to pay for a badge from a dealer though... Time to check out the butts pdf catalogue... If it's going to cost, say a tenner, I'll probably go for the clean looks... I don't want to copy you, Matt, but it does look nice I reckon! :cool:

Clean looks is the way to go!

Also people following have no idea whats under the bonnet!

If you want stealth, how about:-

...or adapted specially for Fabia diesel owners!

Matt.. that Diesel Inside avatar.. do you have a higher rez version by chance?

:cheers:

Col G

I actually nicked the image from somewhere on TDIclub and i messed around with it to fit the avatar.

I'll see if i can find it again...

Im actually tempted to get some black paint and repaint the red on my badge :D fool the buggers into thinking its a 90 :D :D :D

I see the rear badge virus is spreading! Maybe certain members will now back off from questioning why I changed my 4X4 turbo badge for a 1.4 16V one.... :(

Given the distrust to the verity of the 4x4 turbo badge I was shown recently (see the insult thread), I will certainly refrain from questioning your decision...

Mattijs, I am very tempted to stick mine on the front grille since it looks really good there. But I am having trouble reconciling that with having a stealth mode badge on the back. So in my case I would be quite happy for people to disbelieve the badge on the front and believe the one on the back - letting me have the last laugh! :)

You really do have too much time on your hands, Denis!! ;) ;)

Back to the red letters of the TDI badge, I have never seen a TDI badge all in red.

Has anyone?

I thought Golf 150 PD TDIs were actually badge GTI
