Octavia Long delivery times

Featured Replies

Ordered my Octavia vRS CR DSG estate on April 19th and have just been notified by the dealer that build week is now 34!!!!!!

Means I won't get the car until late September....that's 5 months.

How come others who ordered around the same time are having their cars built in the next week or two?

Originally given a delivery date of early July.

At least it will come with the new reg.

This is my first Skoda.......I hope it's worth it!

I'm beginning to think I should have bought that one year old BMW 330d I looked at in April.

  • Although dealers may indeed give differing stories as to build dates and arrival at dealer there is a mitigating reason for this. Two cars may be built on the same day and trained upto Emden together

Tell them you'll cancel the order due to their inability to provide the product in a reasonable time period... My build date miraculously moved forward about 4 weeks when I threatened that

I tried that and got a reply from SUK saying that it was within the expected timeframe due to heavy demand and i should take my complaint up with the stealer.

Sorry, it was the dealer I complained to, not Skoda UK.

I basically reminded them that they told me it would be 10-12 weeks for delivery and when it became 18 weeks I said that was unacceptable as I needed the car before then as it was replacing a company vehicle and if they couldn't provide the car within the time frame they had stated to me then they were in breach of contract and I would take my custom elsewhere. Not long after that they phoned me back saying they'd "misread" the build date on the system and it was in fact 4 weeks earlier than they'd originally told me... Strange coincidence that emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Maybe should add, I'd made it clear to the dealer when placing the order that I needed the car by a certain date and was informed that would not be a problem...

Update on my order:

Despite ringing the dealer and Skoda UK on Monday of this week I was not able to get an indication of when I would get my new VRS. However had the call this morning that I would be able to collect it on 29/06/10. So that will be 9 weeks from order to delivery which I am pretty chuffed with, and makes up for the frustration of being kept in the dark.

If anyone wants a car straight away I spotted a race blue hatch in the skoda dealer in Darlington. Perhaps a new thread on showroom spots ?

yep i saw that , unfortunately 4 weeks after i had already ordered my Black Magic one and i would have had to lose my deposit to buy the blue one. But on the bright side i prefer the Black and just found out today that mine is now due for deliver around the end of July start of August although cannot pin the stealer down on a definite build date.

... end of July start of August although cannot pin the stealer down on a definite build date.

I had the same - although all I could get from the stealer was "Mid July".. I mean how can they provide an estimated delivery date if they have no idea when it would be built?

Ordered Octavia VRS CR DSG Hatchback in Race Blue week 23 - build date week 44 - (could improve?) original dealer estimate was from week 36

extras - Front / rear parking sensors Auto dimming mirror / rain sensor / light assist multifunction steering wheel MDI cable Temporary spare wheel

There are updates planned for Octavia from week 45 build (confirmed by factory email), so trying to find out direct what they are / if my car will have them etc.

Allowing factory shut for 3 weeks in July, still did not expect to wait so long. Also have px that may now be valued lower (ok still using it but now have to buy 2 more tyres as done 43k and bad roads are now taking their toll on wear tracking etc)

Allowing factory shut for 3 weeks in July...

I've read somewhere else on this forum that the factory is only shut for 2 weeks this year to help keep on top of demand.

Just wondered if anyone here who ordered a new VRS around the end of April beginning of May has been given a build date yet? My dealer is being rather vague as to when i'm likely to get my VRS!

Hi Jimmy , i ordered mine May 17th originally told build date is August 13th, was told yesterday should be delivered early to mid August.

It isn't getting any better!! I ordered an Octavia 1.6 TDI CR Elegance Estate in bog standard red on 18th April. I was told delivery would be in June because of demand. Just telephoned the dealer for an update and after checking on his computer he says that production is due to start on week 30 (26 July 2010) That's 14 weeks after the order add on another 3/4 weeks and it will be nearly 5 months after ordering before it arrives.

Update

Picking car up today. 20 weeks from order to delivery.

I wonder if it depends on dealer or spec ordered so just random delays. I'm aware the 1.4TSI has delays till Feb/March.

I ordered my car 2 weeks ago and had a build week with a day or 2, which is Week 44. Maybe there has been a rush of orders since then.

Yeah....I ordered mine two weeks ago and was given week 44 but was told it would now be week 48!

Got good news yesterday - build on my vrs is now planned for week 41. Ordered end of July with a week 44 build.

I asked at a dealer today and they said it was 21 weeks :o

I wanted a 1.4TSi Elegance and a couple of weeks ago was quoted 20 weeks delivery by 2 dealers. Luckily they had what I wanted as a demo car only 2 months old so bought that. Dealer rang to see how car was and they are now being told minimum 24 weeks delivery and not sure how that affects the VAT deal or if VAT increase to 20% will apply. Glad I went for the demo.

Imagine the amount of sales they are losing because of that ridiculous order period??

My vRS was order on August 8th and was spider to be bw43, last week in October. I'm going to call the dealer at the end of the month- hopefully it hasn't been put back! We were quoted ten weeks when our order was placed......

Wifes new vRS ordered June 3rd, currently on a boat heading for Grimsby, expect to collect next week some time, week after at latest, so somewhere between 16/17 weeks (was told 10-12 when ordered it!)

Mine must be on the same boat with yours :D Got an email from the dealer today saying it left on Tuesday from emden so hoping for a next week or week after delivery too.

ordered 19th june by the way.

I sent an email to SUK a couple of weeks ago asking about late delivery compensation, and received a phonecall a day later telling me that once I took delivery of the car, the dealer should offer me something. He then said he'd phone the dealer to make sure they contact me asap.

The dealer then emailed me explaining her manager would be away on holiday for a couple of weeks, but would be in touch as soon as she returned.

SUK phoned me again yesterday to make sure the dealer had been in touch (and to make sure I was happy with my car), I explained the email conversation I'd had and he said he'd phone me again next Wednesday to make sure they're looking after me.

I'm very happy with the service I've had from SUK so far, let's hope the Dealer is equally as good

I suspect UK cars may be starting to jump the build queue to avoid Skoda Uk getting stung for a big bill when the vat rate increases.

The build date on mine has just come forwards 11 weeks for a car ordered mid July. It should now arrive late October as opposed to late January.

Either that or I've just pinched somebody else's car. We'll see if it arrives with the correct options and colour I guess.

Ordered a L&K TSi DSG on august 3. The dealer said that the build week would be 49... two weeks later was told BW, 43. Yippee I thought. However after another 2 weeks I was told this had now become week 47.

This week, only 2 DAYS later I rang SUK myself with the order number and was told not before week 2 2011. Allowing for the normal 3-4 weeks for delivery I will get the car latish february so I may as well wait for the 11 redistration. That will mean order to delivery 7 months. Is this a record on here or has anyone waited or will be waiting longer?

(i hope the compensation is good)

Steve

When mine was looking at late January delivery I asked if I could postpone registration until 1st March. I was told the car had to be registered immediately it arrived at the dealer if I wanted them to honour the price guarantee.

SUK told me if the car arrives at the dealer before March it will be registered with a 60 plate. I was considering cancelling my order when the dealer informed me the build date had come forward.

As per my previous week 47 thread - I placed an Order for a diesel Scout on 29 June. One or two fairly standard options (MDI unit, MFSW) and found out last week that the build week is 47. James of Allams believes I will be lucky to see the car this side of Xmas.

Very disappointing given the dealer estimated a 12 week delivery. I certainly would have had second thoughts about placing the order if I had known about the delays at that stage, given that the dealer had a mint second hand one for sale with 3k on at the time I ordered!

Would a petrol Scout (which seems to be not quite so in demand as a diesel ) be easier to source?

Imagine the amount of sales they are losing because of that ridiculous order period??

I suppose the only plus is it helps keep secondhand prices up
