Octavia Long delivery times

Featured Replies

ATM it's anything upto 15 weeks for cars coming though now, so you might not get it 1st March, but you should get it that month. At least you'll have the new registration plate

15 weeks? I think I might be one of the luckier ones!

I ordered my Octy Elegance 1.4TSI DSG Hatch on 26th October with Simpsons of Great Yarmouth. I spoke to them about 4 weeks after ordering it and they said it was going to be built week 49. I spoke to them again last Saturday (12th December) and they told me it was on the boat! Even they were surprised about how quick it was coming through. Although I've heard nothing since we have agreed a delivery date of 2nd January (to make sure it is registered as a 2010 car). Apparently makes a big difference when it comes to trade in - about £400 it seems.

If my calculations are right that makes it slightly under 10 weeks from order to delivery - trust me, I've got everything crossed! I'd be happier still if the wintry weather would bugger off for a few more weeks as the Christmas and New Year shutdown will undoutedly stifle deliveries to the dealers and I could do without any extra obstacles between Grimsby and Gt Yarmouth!

  • Although dealers may indeed give differing stories as to build dates and arrival at dealer there is a mitigating reason for this. Two cars may be built on the same day and trained upto Emden together

Well, I ordered mine exactly 5 weeks before you and got the same build date. I collect mine on 29th Dec. I'm not really bothered by the Jan registration as I doubt it will make any difference given we don't plan on trading it in any time soon.

I did say anything upto 15 weeks - yours is definitely one of the faster ones :)

Rang dealer today to check on progress of my order. Car ordered on 5th October and built last week (48). They say it's now at the docks in Northern Germany.Told dealer I dont want it registered until January and he's happy as it seems this new computer system is causing them headaches.VRS 2.0 TSI DSG Estate in Black with full heated leather, MFSW with bluetooth, rear parking sensors, privacy glass, silver roof rails, Auto lights and mirrors, spare wheel.Still desperate to see a UK spec Black VRS. Anyone got one?

Ordered mine on the 25th of Sept collecting tomorrow.

Suspect it could have been here for a couple of weeks as I have been in the US for a while.

Collected the new 1.6 TDI CR Elegance in Arctic Green, a fitting colour for the current weather, yesterday.

The build date was 04.11.2009 and the dealer PDI was 02.12.2009 so it looks like it has been waiting for my return. So far very happy but only done 40 miles, not too keen on test driving it in the ice and snow

Interesting will you not have to pay the extra VAT difference as mine was the same build week and to be fair I've been thinking about the difference in a 2010 and 2009 model come resale.

I ordered an Oct Elegance 1.4DSG Estate two weeks ago with a couple of factory extras. I have been told it will be built at the factory in week 3. I am not in any rush so have asked the dealer to try and delay it so it will have a "10" plate.

I ordered my 1.8tsi SE dsg estate corrida red with a few extras including a sunroof on 25th Sep - originally given build week 48, then 49, then 50 and now it's almost week 52 and haven't heard anymore - not that I'm in any hurry and might as well wait until 2010.

My order for an Aqua Blue 1.8TSi L & K was week 50 but is now week 2 2010. Was ordered mid October.

I ordered a CR VRS at the end of October. It was originally listed to be built week 49 (beginning of Dec), but it hasn't been built yet. I'm in no real hurry (at least it'll be a 2010 car), and although I was originally told I should get it in December, they did say it could be January.

I'm now told it might get built next week, but I'm not sure if I should really expect that or not - it just seems a bit vague. Do the build weeks often get put back (and so aren't really that useful)?

I know a lot of people have had to wait a lot longer than 2 months, but it would be nice to know when it is really going to be ready. I'm beginning to think I'll be lucky if it is January. I don't mind if it is a while yet (eg 1st Marchemoticon-0103-cool.gif ), as long as I could be fairly sure that's when it would actually be.

That was one of the things I did get confirmed - no extra VAT for me if delivered in 2010. Well, we all know we still pay the VAT in a 'VAT free Skoda' offer but Skoda will up the discount to negate the extra cost. However, I knew that if the car was delivered to the dealer on or before the 14th December I would have had to take it in 2009. I only know all of this thanks to the great people on Briskoda

The other things confirmed were that the trade-in value would not change through the agreed delivery period (which was 'Dec/Jan') and that the finance deal would not change either. I know Skoda's offers (both on cars and finance) change every quarter so it was certainly peace of mind on my part.

Delivery dates vary a bit in the early stage an order. When it gets to about four weeks before build it seems to firm up.

Mine was quoted week 51 in early Nov and was built 14th Dec, week 51.

IIRC initial build date quoted was week 48 with several changes inbetween.

My new vRS is now on its way to Emden

Wish my dealer could give me actual dates, I've had build dates change in the same phone conversation... Ordered my CR VRS on 30th September, and "should be here mid January...." It's not the delay that's annoyed me (was told 10-12 weeks when I ordered it), but more the fact they don't keep me up to date and I have to do all the chasing.

This is the replacement for my current company car and I have paperwork to deal with at work to get off the car scheme and onto the car allowance that will be covering the payments each month....

I bet if I'm as much as a millisecond late making one of the finance payments then I'd be getting a call :-)

I finally picked my car up friday 11th, I had a 300 mile trip to collect it but I was quite happy to drive it home and thats all I got to do was rive it home and it sat outside for the past week as I woke on the saturday morning feeling major ill, so I have been laid up not able to play with it

My journey was far from simple as I had train delays that left me 3 hrs late and trying to inspect the car in the near darkness, plus the dealer wanted my signature before I inspected which aint right but after advice on here I checked everything over including all electrics and the car is fine except when I awoke saturday morning I realise my front mudflaps had not been fitted, I was more concerned checking the extras I paid a lot for had been fitted and I totally forgot the smallest thing. I rang dealer on the Saturday and he says he will post out if I am happy to fit them myself but upto now I hae not received them a week on.

Wonder what the chances are I will get them as I have signed all paper work now ??? Just wondered also how many people on here actually purchase the GAP Insurance the dealer tries to offer?? I did and then realised I could get it cheaper and for 4 years so beware.

I was quite impressed with the speed of my order as it was a wk 43 order with a build of wk 47 my car was actually in dealers on 4th Dec so not too bad, I think I have made a good choice.

Today finally I took it out for a run and quite impressed.

Picking mine up from dealer on Tuesday! Was wondering if GAP was worth it or not on a 2 yr finance deal, as they only pay the shortfall between the finance left and the sum the insurance are willing to stump up, with the vat-free offer and the extra discount on top of that, I imagine that it'd be close to being a nil shortfall...any ideas?

I took out the Skoda GAP, its return to invoice, or shortfall of finance, which ever is greater. They knocked off £100 for me.

Regarding the flaps, they may well try and griggle out of it, but if its on the invoice, then its breach of contract, either phone or write letter to principle and give them 14 days to send them or you'll expect a refund on the flaps. You could also CC it to either finance company or credit card if you used this for the deposit.

Never heard of a dealer getting you to sign BEFORE inspecting it, what your signing for is to agree you HAVE inspected it. Again, might be worth complaining to the principle about but expect its him who has encouraged the practise to get the motors out quickly with less comeback.

You know I didnt think of trying to knock them down on the GAP, i was so tired by the time I got there, I did pay my deposit on my cc but I didnt think I would be able to claim for the flaps, I thought you was only section 75 protected if the dealer was to go out of business.. but hey if it work thats great I will look into it.

I know its the wrong thread but someone posted on here a sort of hints and tips guide regarding hidden menus in the bolero and the maxidot but I cant seem to find it, did anyone else see this??

I think thats in the sticky at the top of the forum - but links are not working :-(

EDIT: It seems to have disappeared completely now. I would have liked to read those but I suppose they got lost in the recent forums crash - maybe should start a thread trying to get them "relinked".

Pretty sure just speaking to them and compaining will get things sorted, but don't leave it too long! Dunno about hidden menus. When I got my Mazda a few years ago, mats and flaps were thrown in, a few weeks later the salesman phoned me up pretending he could'nt remember if they were FOC or chargable. lol

Result :)

Right there has to be a record for the longest lead time???

I ordered mine on the 26th Oct and up to now all i've been told is that it'll be built week 1! So the expected delivery dat could be as late as the 27/28th Jan!!

It's only a White VRS CR with maxidot, MDI, spare wheel (thanks for the advice guys) and heated seats. Not the earth!!

Has the dealer sat on it or are Skoda struggling with orders for FL octavias????

I ordered mine Sept 8th; was told 14 to 16 weeks and I am due to take delivery tomorrow - 15 weeks. I knew at the outset what it was and all being well they have delivered. 13 weeks, including the Christmas break seems reasonable given many comments in this thread. IMHO I'm not sure that the options list makes a lot of difference.

I ordered mine on 5th October. It was build week 48 (end of November) and it arrived at the dealer this week. I am collecting in the new year so about 13 weeks or so in total.

Ordered mine 12th October and picked it up last Tuesday - 9 weeks. Why yours is taking 4 weeks more than mine seems a mystery to me.

Anthracite vRS estate, manual, silver roof rails, curtain airbags, heated seats, spare wheel.

I believe it has something to do with my inability to add up, about ten weeks is probably more accurate.
