London to Brighton...

Featured Replies

Have to admit I'm tempted by this - need to find somewhere to stay the Saturday night and then drive home after it on the sunday.

Try this site

www.laterooms.com

You should find some thing there  cheap as well

This is good stuff guys, more showing interest!

Flatfourburble... any luck with ringing companies?

When I get back from holiday I'll try and get in to full swing of organising this event withthe help of some of you!!

Suggestions of a pub meal in Brighton on the Sunday, if anyone can suggest somewhere then feel free.

Also was wondering about making this a little rally? All i could think about was the problem of check points... however have come up with a easy solution, perhaps...

You can go your own route from Clackett Lane to Brighton's unconfirmed destination however you must go to the check points on route, these will be service stations off the motorway system where you must purchase something small and the receipt becomes your proof of going to checkpoint and all the stuff that is bought can be put in to a little prize draw after lunch or given to the first place, second place, third place etc etc

Any thoughts or other suggestions please feel free to add them here or pm me :D

Really want to try and get this to be a good day out and hopefully become an annual or half annual event

Plus I have a DIY camera mount for the car so we can view the whole thing time and time again :D

I'm going to be knackered after this as I'm on nights.

Hicksy,

I will hae another crack at skoda UK today and see where I get.

To the just of you guys n gals are you happy for this to be also charity geared aswel? The date in question is in december so I was thinking maybe we could do something for a childrens charity?

If there is any charity's you feel that you would like to raise many for pm me.

Lastly thanks to the 10 of you that have show an interest, it would be really good to see a convoy of fabia's.

As for the rally idea me and Hicksy will try and look further into this.

Mike

Charity's a good idea, at least the convoy of vRS shant be frowned apon by any plods scanning this thread, as its all for a good cause :)

I drove the other way when the smart runn was on, it looked great fun. I think everyone should make an effort to do this its great... p.s. i am moving to brighton in 3 weeks to... :D

Just hope the weather is good around that time...

Wahoo! We've got 11 people now, got to get more though, come on, roll up roll up, get your convoy here :D

Alexst, if you're moving to Brighton then maybe you can scan the pubs in the town and the surrounding country area to find suitable establishment for the Briskoda rabble?

Just a thought on the charity front... How about RSPCA as they campaign around the Christmas time about dogs not being just for Christmas? There's a joke there but it felt inappropriate to type it

Also if anyone has any contacts in the sticker business then maybe they could sort out some form of "briskoda.net London to Brighton 2004" to apply to our Furby's glass?

There's got to be more Southern Furby owners out there? Surely?

Hicksy

Why dont we do the classic london to brighton run say start from the London Eye,a23 down though brixton then had over to mitcham, hackbridge, wallington then over the fields to pick up the a23 just before the start of the m23 then just follow the a23 down to brighton.

or

Lets be honest a motorway run from clacketts to brighton is a bit of a yawn, could do an interesting route via a / b roads with a navigation exercise with questions along the way shortest mileage wins not the quickest. Say

Sounds like a good idea, 50% to briskoda, and 50% to the charity that is chosen

Although if we get stickers done or any other form of memorabilia then this will have to be covered somehow!

Hicksy :D

I can come up with a list of questions such as what pub is in so and so all mixed up so the route is not all that obivious, everyone gets the questions at the same time and you set your own route to get the maximum number of answers in the shortest route. Winner calculated by taking a note of the cars mileage and resetting the trip at the start. At the end the mileage on the trip must fall within the mileage shown on the odometer within 1 mile so no cheating. Must have some prize money and when all said and done charity begins at home, but open to ideas

Oh and shall we be fair and open this up to all skoda owners??????

good ideas guys, keep them coming.

11 so far c'mon you southerns, it will be fun and a good cause!

this open for illegitimate twins to the furby too?

so is this just for Fabia's then???

or can us Octy owners join in your fun????

Yeah, good point. That's discrimination otherwise and you'll have to be reported to the authorities...... :)

On the subject of non-fabia's its over to the thread starter I think.....

So Hicksy,

have you made a decision as to whether this is open to other Skoda owners?

go on you know it makes sense.......we are all one happy family in the end...lol

Your call Hicksy... just spare a thought for the 'Fabia Family' first

thats "carmotional blackmail".....

moderators is this allowed??? lol

Could always have an Any Skoda but Fabias (special guests allowed) meet ;)

what about non skoda owners? ;'(

I will check out pubs, etc and find a nice big one, in the hope that the list will grow from our 11 we have at the moment. Loads of places available, however parking in brighton on any sunday let alone a sunday near christmas could be a nightmare, shall i call the council and see if something can be sorted out (Venue for the day or something) need to know rough numbers first though, or we could extend the game to parking wherever you can and walking to the destination (Pub)?!?
