Just.......I have a Road Angle GPS ( Professional connected ) it was reading between 90/95

And what angle where you looking at the speedo at?

You must have thought you were doing a ton + and got off light :)

I know I would have :)

When I have the RA connected up I always look at that for my speed, it was hovering around 90/95. the speedo must have been over a ton, but I trust the RA. He clocked me at J7 but stopped me after J5.........Should have been in a Fabia Vrs...... :)

Except the one where I'm in orange standing in the CESS , and you fail to see me .But then I trust you blokes in cabs to spot us and sound off.

Thanks for that feedback - it's very useful :D

It sounds like the course was pitched to a lowest common denominator which is a shame but if you ever fancy meeting up for a drive, let me know and I'll happily see if I can help you to build on your driving...

Chris

Well if you would see the cross section of offenders in my "class" (about 15 or so) you would see why that is necessary.

Thanks for the advice offer, but on the practical driving tests (2 of us with an advanced instructor) he did give us glowing reports at the end. But then of course one is obviously on best behaviour and driving with 40 odd years of experience. (My fellow captive was an HGV driver.)

Even the "instructor" said it was so different from his daily grind of sitting by very inexpeienced and nervous learners.

At least you stand in the Cess and not poking the gun through bushes or standing behind signal posts,

May I suggest you stand in the 4 foot, you'll get a better aim..........:D

Keep safe,.....Can't stop as quick..

May I ask who you work for Sir???

Sorry to here you got caught (remember it's only a crime when you get caught)

One of my biggest bug bears is people who speed yet have had no training on how to deal with a car at speed. When i first did a driving course i was shocked at just how bad i was and the fact that modern car chassis, suspension, brakes, ESP,TC etc actually stop a lot of people crashing - me included.

But Driving and Sex are exactly the same for men. We all think we are fantatstic at both. But im afraid that for the majority of us we are not.

Im not having a pop at you there AG i am just making a general comment. I have been caught speeding in the past but the last time was in 1997 (funnily enough 2 months before i did my first driving course) and i was young stupid and thought i was Colin McRae in my 1.4 Escort. Now i really don't feel that i have to.

The four years will fly mate. It doesn't seem like 12 years since i got my last points :)

Shame you are no longer as young as you were then, Carl ! :)

But he wasn't

He told me, when I asked him where he was he replied " up the entry slip road at junction 7 "

Didn't see him until he arrived in my rear view mirror.

Oops, sorry, looks like I need my observation skills looking at. Was there absolutely no sign of him when you passed the slip road ? If he's hiding, that's a bit naughty.

Did you know (for example) if you keep in 3rd gear you won't exceed 30 mph? (ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha...........)

On one level that's BS; my car is geared for over 70 in 3rd (dunno how fast; if I'm using those sort of revs I'm looking at the road, and may be about to change into 4th).

On another they have a point; The lower gear makes most cars sound "fussy" and you're less likely to drift up without noticing (same thing applies to using 4th at 40).

it probably wont make too much differenc to ins premium? Think mine went up 10%

Indeed, mine actually went down on renewal when I said I had 3 points and also increased the annual mileage to 20k a year. All very odd. Guess they reckon I'll drive a bit slower, which I do.

Re comments of sticking to 30/40 in these limits, I find my cruise control very useful and use it most days when I've several miles of these limits to go through.

I had the pleasure of attending one of Sussex's Speed Awareness courses, having been nabbed for 47 in a 40. Most of the other attendees were over 60, and one was absolutely stone deaf, so I doubt she derived much benefit from the presentation :(

It was quite entertaining when we got in the car for the practical side though, when the instructor asked if we had done any advanced driver training, and we both told him we had race licences :D To be fair to him though, he assessed our driving in the first 15mins, told us he felt perfectly safe in the car whilst we were driving, and we spent the rest of the time working on 'advanced' driving techniques.
